American Idol: Season 10 PART III

Everyone needs to take one of these:

Get a GRIP people. Most of us have been having this NON fight for ten years. It's what we DO.

Glad it's almost over :surfweb:

:rotfl2: Do you know years ago I was a member of the beanie babies board. I got banned for life for telling someone to take a chill pill!!!

I've stayed out of this thread since my favorite was eliminated. I just didn't have (and still don't) have much to say about those that are left. I really don't have a strong perference for a winner from those that are still performing. What has brought me out of lurking is all of the comments toward anyone who dares say anything about Hayley. She is a contestant on a show about being judged and I think any and all comments about her performance are fair game. This is TV, not radio, and she is judged on not only her attempts at singing but also on her stage behavior. (And I do still remember the ridiculous butt-slide off of the piano and admit to posting about that. You should direct your anger toward me as a terrible human being for mentioning this.) What is not fair game is to go after fellow posters about why they do not like certain contestants. You can tell us all day long about all of the great things about your favorite and what you don't like in the others, just don't disparage other posters who don't agree with you.

This thread used to be so much more fun. Plenty of negative comments were made about my favorite. I didn't agree with them but would never think it was ok to question the motives of the posters. It is OK to dislike someone's voice as well as their stage presence.

Geez, the playground isn't much FUN anymore, is it? :yay:

Ack, this argument happens every year. Just check back to Season 5, Part 2 near the end. It was the exact same complaints, just different names.

This thread usually gets "heated" the closer we get to the finale. Should be close to total nuclear meltdown tonight!

You don't even want to KNOW the names the seniors ( at my mom's retirement home) have for the contestants....makes this thread look T-A-M-E!!!!!!!!!!!

On another topic, who is Steven Tyler mouthing all of those things to when the camera is on him? He has been doing this for several weeks now. I can't tell what he is saying but it looks like he is saying a special hello to someone. It is coming across as a little creepy.

:rotfl::rotfl: I love him, I do, but yep.....his GF maybe? Grandson? Manager? Joe Perry?:rotfl2:

Thoughts on last night:

Round 1
Scotty - amazing:love:seriously he has been so flawless this season, judges never have anything bad to say about him and he is sitll only 17

Lauren - didn't like it, I felt like she was talking through it more then singing

Haley - I have come to like her voice, the song choice was alittle odd but I still do like her voice

Round 2
Scotty - love the song but wasnt my favorite of his performances, still was very good but he has done better

Lauren - very good, as much as I dont like her this was the perfect song for her and she did it very well

Haley - I liked it, I thought her movements on stage were nice and she sang it fine, its the right type of song for her

Round 3
Scotty - LOVED IT:love: I dont care how young he is I thought he did such a wonderful job with it, I felt so much emotion from it

Lauren - the beginning sounded like she was talking again but the end got great

Haley - I liked it, once again the right type of song for her

I would love to see a Haley and Scotty finale but I really don't know what is going to happen. Everyone says the country vote will be split but thats been said all season and it has yet to happen.

I really enjoyed Scotty last night. I liked all 3 songs he song. I loved the little interview with his dad. What voices they have!
I said during song #1 that he has the type of country voice that can just get up on stage like George Strait and sing--not need for a "show" like I think of Garth Brooks doing. Lo and behold, the same type of thing is mentioned by Steven Tyler or Randy jackson but the opposite was said--that Scotty could just sing as Garth just sings. LMAO, I always thought of Garth as a showman with gimmicks of coming up out of the floor or down from the ceiling. Oh well! lol

I really saw Lauren's lack of confidence last night and she seemed really young to me. I think she has what it takes and has a beautiful voice--she just needs to mature some more and will, of course. Whether she wins or loses at idol, I think she'll be a winner in the world of music.

And Haley. As my DH said last night, "I'd like to buy her for what she's worth and sell her for what she thinks she's worth." I just do not understand why she's made it this far and since she has, I would not mind her winning the whole thing. I hate to think of anyone with tons of talent being under Idols' thumb for a year or whatever the time frame is!

I don't have a clue how the vote will go tonight but I have noticed that a lot of younger females seem to be supporting Lauren. Everyone comments about Lauren and Scotty splitting the country vote or about Scotty getting by on mass voting by young females but I think they are missing out on Lauren's voting block. I think it looks like she has the same kind of appeal as Taylor Swift. Youthful appeal and non threatening. Whether Taylor can sing or not is up for discussion but she is raking in the money and hits as a country/pop artist. I have thought all along that AI sees this same path for Lauren.

In my opinion, all of that talk about young females only voting for the cute guy is missing the point. Now more mature women is another thing. We probably vote for the cute guy every time.

James Durbin on Ellen show today. Awesome young man! Very inspiring. Check it out if it hasn't come on yet in your area.
