American Idol: Season 10 PART III

I don't have a clue how the vote will go tonight but I have noticed that a lot of younger females seem to be supporting Lauren. Everyone comments about Lauren and Scotty splitting the country vote or about Scotty getting by on mass voting by young females but I think they are missing out on Lauren's voting block. I think it looks like she has the same kind of appeal as Taylor Swift. Youthful appeal and non threatening. Whether Taylor can sing or not is up for discussion but she is raking in the money and hits as a country/pop artist. I have thought all along that AI sees this same path for Lauren.

In my opinion, all of that talk about young females only voting for the cute guy is missing the point. Now more mature women is another thing. We probably vote for the cute guy every time.

I would've if there WAS one this year... :confused3

I don't see Lauren as YOUNG, immature, yes, but she looks like a 36 yo soccer mom. They pull down curtains and make her dresses instead of letting her look like a effortless young girl and then they fluff up her hair like Loretta Lynn:confused3. Like Steven said "grand OL opry". Taylor looks and comes across as the kind of girl young girls want to BE.

 I'll have to pass that one on to him!

I don't think he has a Business degree in his future. ;) That has never been his thing. His intention was always to teach high school English. However, he decided against the Education minor during his last semester, meaning he didn't do the student teaching. So who knows?

So how did you put your English degree to use? I think there really are lots of things you can do with an English degree. The problem is finding them!

I taught high school English for 2 years and decided it was NOT for me! I then married, had a couple more kids, and spent years homeschooling them. Opened a scrapbook t-shirt business (wrote funny sayings for shirts, guess that was sorta using the degree ;) ) then went belly-up in the recession. Decided I wanted to work for WDW mid-life, so went to grad school for a Master's in Management. It did the trick and now I'm a manager at WDW and I have the Master's I never wanted. :lmao:

I also put my great evaluation and writing skills to use on AI threads, where I can talk about what is wrong with America for letting Haley get this far in the competition. :rolleyes1

And Haley. As my DH said last night, "I'd like to buy her for what she's worth and sell her for what she thinks she's worth."

Best. Quote. Ever. I just had surgery a week ago and laughed so hard it hurt. But in a good way.

Exactly. Whoever is styling Lauren is taking the Grand Ol' Opry thing too far. She needs to look more her age. Instead I think she's the teenage equivalent of a toddler beauty pageant contestant dressed up to look years older with too much makeup and gaudy clothes. I bet she'd be even more beautiful without all that puffy hair and Tammy Faye makeup.

And there were no hot guys on the show this year. I don't think I even remember one during auditions.

Thanks for posting those links! :thumbsup2 The last one, from the mtv guy Jim Cantiello(?), was hilarious!

Jim Cantiello is a favorite. His idol in 60 seconds is so funny. I used to enjoy watching Slezak's weekly review on EW (he is now on TVLine) but he has become so biased that it is pointless to read his reviews. It is the same thing over and over again.

The makeup on those girls must be put on with a spatula. One of the pitfalls of HD tv is that you can see everything. Last night you could see the bumps on Lauren and Hayley from acne but it was covered over so thick that everything was the same flat color. After the show is over, I would want to run wash all of that stuff off of my face.

:rotfl2: Do you know years ago I was a member of the beanie babies board. I got banned for life for telling someone to take a chill pill!!!

really? if it wasn't so ridiculous it would be seriously funny.

aMEN, asta!! :worship:

Geez, the playground isn't much FUN anymore, is it? :yay:

:sad2:..not always, but then it gets back on track and becomes :yay:

Ack, this argument happens every year. Just check back to Season 5, Part 2 near the end. It was the exact same complaints, just different names.

Oh yeah. I think the only year it wasn't bad was DC year. We all liked him.

This thread usually gets "heated" the closer we get to the finale. Should be close to total nuclear meltdown tonight!

I need to find a bomb shelter that gets cable then. :rotfl:

That's a good thing with the zombie apocalypse!!!

----------------> NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Not zombies.

I agree, they are making her look like her mother. Female country singers do NOT dress like this anymore. No more big hair and sequins from here to there.

One of the shows they had her hair straight and she looked so cute. even in the audition when it was super curly it looked cute.

It isn't just that they are styling Lauren as old, the stuff she is singing is too old as well. I would have liked her a lot more if her whole spiel had been more youthful I think the Miley song was the only song that she could relate to.

Wow, that's awesome! Many people dream of working at WDW, but I don't know how many actually follow through on that dream. :thumbsup2 I don't know whether to hope my DS wishes to ever teach high school or not. I really just hope that he finds whatever it is he is good at and is happy doing.

About that last part.....:rotfl2: We will have to agree to disagree about Haley's place in the competition. ;) But I respect your opinion!

Everyone needs to take one of these:

Get a GRIP people. Most of us have been having this NON fight for ten years. It's what we DO.

Glad it's almost over :surfweb:

Really? It's been THIS contentious every season? I guess I really stepped in a hornets nest and didn't realize. I don't mind fighting with someone who can defend themselves but this kind of ...well, I just don't understand it. It feels bad and unnecessary.

So, it's just a release and these people don't really mean harm to the contestants they are attacking?

I'm looking for an opinion from Robin. Thanks!

I don't remember it ever being this bad, I think David Cook season was pretty bad, David A fans took a lot of crap

Me either. I've mostly avoided this thread. Who needs DRAMA over a silly TV show?!?!?!?!? :confused3

As far as the season of the Davids.... Don't you mean David A's FAN? I think poor Laura was the only one on the thread! But she took us all on! :thumbsup2

I do think it has been more contentious this year than many of the others. I don't even really love any of the contestans, but there are a few who I don't like at all musically. Just because I don't think they are great singers/musicians doesn't mean I think they stink as a human being.

And I do agree that Laura held her own and that of all David A fans with her enthusiasm. :thumbsup2 I don't see any other fan that has ever held up that well in any season.

Hi all. Had to work last night but watched the show back. I liked Scott best, Lauren second, Haley last. None of them really WOWed me though.

I've been sick for a couple of weeks, so I've cleaned out my DVR. Since I had nothing else to watch, I just watched The Voice on demand. WOW! Made me realize that I really don't like AI anymore. I've only seen the first episode, but so far I like the format MUCH more. Can't wait to get caught up on that show. :goodvibes

I'm watching it! I really like it too!
