Amazing Race All Star starts 2/23/14 Offical Thread no spoilers

He had contacts that were due to be switched out within the next day or two. I can see why he'd leave the extra contacts/glasses IN his backpack (and not fanny pack), since the backpack was always with him. I have both, and there is no way that I can see without one or the other. I fully understand his dilemma.

Oh ok that makes sense.

Does anyone know why the You Tubers left before several teams at the start of the last leg? They were 2nd to last in the first episode -- only the twinnies came in after them (and they were eliminated). I thought I was losing my mind, but went back to a recap which had them listed 2nd to last. Did anyone else catch this? Has anyone heard how they jumped ahead?

He is probably near-sighted like my mother. She can see just fine up close without her glasses, but for things like driving she needs them. There would probably have been legs later on in the game that would have required him to drive or otherwise need to see far away. He couldn't do that without his glasses.

That's me. I'm very near-sighted and am very comfortable reading up close without my glasses. But you don't want to be riding with me if I'm driving without them :rotfl2:

I didn't catch this. Anyone have an answer? Now I'm curious!!

Several teams left in a different order at the start of Leg 2 than they arrived at the end of Leg 1. Dave & Connor originally arrived in 3rd place but were 4th to leave, Margie & Luke came in 4th but left 3rd, Jessica & John came in 8th but left 9th, Caroline & Jennifer came in 9th but left 10th, and Joey & Meghan came in 10th but left 8th.

I was curious so I went to the board at Television without Pity and someone said that a "reliable" source said it was due to production delays. I remember a lot of those kind of delays in the first few seasons, but nothing recent.

The previews for next week left me speechless. A grown man throwing a temper tantrum. Does Luke also have some other disabilities...autism? Asperger disorder?

I just watched the episode where Mark and Mallory went out. Why couldn't they finish the leg and then go back for it? And obviously there was a camera guy there getting shots of the back pack, so it wasn't going to get stolen.

I missed the scenes from next week(but I am hearing he throws a fit). Margie and Luke are not my favorites, I don't like them for the same stuff he pulled on their season, so doesn't surprise me.

My DH was asking me that too(he has never watched before), I wasn't sure why they couldn't go back?

RE: Mark & Mallory - I read in an interview that, had they gone back as soon as they discovered the backpack missing, it would have taken about 15 minutes. Why they waited to drop off the car before turning back (and then dancing around debating whether or not they were going back) is beyond me. I truly think that Mark was done. With such communication issues within only two legs... well, it didn't bode well for them.

As for last night's episode: Once again I'm VERY happy with both the first and the last place teams. :thumbsup2 Now it's time for Brenchel to say adieu. ::yes::

I actually like Brenchel this season. They're communicating so much better, and she wasn't calling on crocodile tears and whining that she wanted to quit.

But if not for the blur we would have seen more of Rachel than we ever wanted to.

I wondered the same exact thing while watching the previews!!

I understand getting frustrated and all, but that looked strange. It was also strange the way his Mom reacted and spoke to him during his outburst. It was like she was talking to a young teenager not some one in their mid 20's.

Wasn't there a team who wanted to check in before settling their cab fare once and Phil said no go? I have a feeling they're not allowed to go back and tie up any loose ends at all once they check in on the mat.

I bet they would have needed to take race time, either right then when it was a safe bet the backpack would still be there, or once they had their next clue and were racing again, in which case who knows where the backpack would have been.

I honestly didn't see that partnership working anyway; both of them may have been from KY, but they were very different people and not having a chance to mesh before trying to get along in a high stress environment didn't help.

I like the cowboys, but their inattention to detail sure frustrates me sometimes! I can't quite decide how I feel about them asking the afghanimals for route info and then floating past them as their raft fell apart either. On one hand my competitive side says it's all game play so go for it if you can. On the other hand it's still early and burning bridges can backfire, especially when you don't always pay attention to detail. LOL

You can't check in and then go back for your stuff. You'll notice they only drop their pack within eyesight of the mat because otherwise it is considered abandoned and they may not race with it.

This is on wikipedia, under the rules and penalties section:

Teams may check in after losing or abandoning any non-mandatory items (e.g., items of clothing), but they must continue the race without them.

As for this episode, I'm very happy the youtubers are gone. Hopefully Luke goes next.

Exactly. I am so glad she didn't get her sequined shorts wet at the waterfall! I bet she was able to keep them dry on her well made raft! Rotfl

I still am not sure why you wouldn't keep your cab at a waterfall in the middle of the rain forest? It sure didn't appear to be a busy tourist attraction, kwim?

So they let teams shed their packs to gain an advantage in the mad dash to the end but won't let someone go back for a pack afterwards when shedding it gave them no advantage?

Margie also has a nasty streak. I don't recall the situation, but she replied nastily to another team about something or other that seemed innocent enough.
