ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

I hope you have an awesome stay and love the Poly as much as we do :wizard:.

Oh we do too. Hey a bad day at Disney far outweighs a bad day at home anytime. Also, knowing that our DS15 will be happy being at the Poly is all that I need to enjoy the Poly.

I got a TON done today including the Mom's Panel Round 2 questions and video which were STRESSING me out. But all done - yippee!!! So just some sleep, dentist appointments, and a gadzillion meetings because adults seem so desperate to have me do their work for them (heaven forbid I take a vacation and make them coordinate their own meeting ). Oh yeah, we have to pack while the kids are at school. Then we get them at 2 pm and somehow surprise them. DH and I are so tired that we don't even know what we will do. Oh well, they like it no matter how we deliver it to them. I'm not sure I can fit in my 5 mile run tomorrow but hey, it is technically a vacation day tomorrow. We can hear the cabana calling us....

:dance3::cool1::dance3: Happy Dance for you Tinkerbellie16 and your family. Have a great time.:flower3:

disneydreamin247I hope today finds you feeling a little better. Sending :grouphug:

According to Jillane, the Disney GS rep, she said that they have extended the monorail on party nights in part to all the complaints so they are listening.

We just need to keep reminding them why we chose to pay a premium to stay at a monorail resort :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone :flower3:

Is this really true?!?! We're leaving soon and I was dreading having to wait for that ferry:rotfl: I'm glad that there have been enough complaints to make them change it. I wonder how much later the monorails are running now?

On another thread it was mentioned that the coffee makers are now senseo pod makers. Can anyone verify this? Also was the supplied coffee any better than the packets with the old coffee makers? or should I bring my own pods.

Not too much left to do. We get the kids in 4 hours from school and somehow surprise them. DH is so exhausted and tired (he worked tirelessly to finish this fence he was working on) that he may not even function during vacation. But, we leave tonight and we are at the Poly tomorrow (we spend tonight at Hilton Bonnet Creek). I'll try to send some live updates while I'm there but don't hate me if I get too wrapped up in the moment and forget what technology is.

I also got a phone message after I wrote to complain. The customer service rep assured me that they are addressing the issue and that there would be no transportation problems after the party. She said they had extended the resort monorail hours - I think they are running them until 12:30 now.

Tinkerbellie16, have a magical trip.:goodvibes :goodvibes I hope you can send us some live updates. Did you request a room preference? We leave on the 24th and I can hardly stand it. :thumbsup2 I had to laugh that you said you could not fit it your run...you will do twice that at the parks.:rotfl2:

We had to take the bus because of the ECV. It was just my mom, the baby, and I so I had to juggle the baby and the stroller plus all of our bags. When we got to the bus line the bus had just finished loading and it was PACKED so we said we would just wait for the next bus (yes, they wanted to somehow out us on it) and we were now the only people in line, but the line quickly piled up and the next bus eventually came and now there were more ECVs lined up behind us. The bus driver had a difficult time loading them, the other guests made rude comments and stared even though we were there before them since we opted to wait. It took us much longer than it would have on the monorail and it was such a hassle having to deal with loading an ECV and stroller on and off the bus. I really resented the lack of monorail that night.

Sorry that you had to deal with that. I hope the rumors are true about the monorail running after the party now. It would make it so much easier for those of us staying at a monorail resort.

Unless they've changed since August, I have a picture somewhere, I will try to locate it for you. The coffee in the room is gross and a basic little 4 cup coffee maker. But I only seem to get 2 cups out everytime. :thumbsup2

Hey its time, have a great one and drink some Pina CoLavas for me & anything else you find. Congrats also on Round 2 of MP!:woohoo:

That's great......sounds like they're really listening to guests :thumbsup2.

You are so right.....I'd take a bad day at Disney over being home anyday ;). I'm sure you will have a fabulous time. My DS16 loves the Poly over any of the other deluxes we've stayed at.....it's just an awesome resort :goodvibes.

Do any of you have an opinion about online check in----specifically for the Poly? Just curious if anyone has experience with their room requests being honored when they've used online check in.

I'm a little more with it today. Thanks. :goodvibes

Our was a cusinart and they left the little pods everyday. I can't attest to thetaste however since I didn't drink it.

I'm glad that they fixed it so others don't have to have the same experience.

I know wireless internet access may be had at a dear price, but is wired access available? Pricing?

Thanks,

What is the transportation issue everyone is talking about? I tried to go back and read on this thread but couldn't find it.

I know that there is no way to guarantee a longhouse. However, I'm just wandering with the number that there are and the amount of people that probably don't even submit specific requests, is it fairly easy to get the longhouse you request? Are there some buildings that are easier/more difficult to get? We are booking garden view. I want to try REALLY HARD to get a balcony or patio. Thanks!

What I read from searching is that the monorail is closing an hour after the normal park close time so people are having to wait in huge lines for the ferry or bus to get back to the resort if they stay for magic hours.

That and special events like MNSSHP.
We are leaving in a little over a week for our first trip and part of the reason I booked the Poly was so we would have great monorail access for everything.

Interested to hear about the longhouse request as well. I think we just asked for an "upper floor". Maybe I need to be a little more specific in hopes we get a great room.

I took a picture while I was there, but I don't drink coffee - so I can't tell you anything about the packets.

Just returned from another great stay at the Poly :). We had no issue getting back from MNSSHP. It took about 10 minutes to get back-we took the resort launch and there was no wait. The resort monorails were running. This was at about 11:45.
We did notice that Disney is being strict about when the monorail is going to stop. We left Epcot one night after Illuminations, which were at 9:00. We walked around WS to get to the monorail, and arrived at the ramp around 9:50. A CM was putting up a chain across the bottom of the ramp right after we entered. We were told that this was the last monorail run of the night. This message was repeated when we arrived at the TTC. Passengers were told that all passengers needed to get off as the monorail would be out of service. When we left Epcot there were still people walking around and eating in the full service restaurants, so their transportation options when they left the park would not include the monorail.
