ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

I really hope the rumblings of the POLY undergoing major construction, perhaps next fall , are unfounded and just stay as rumblings! I am booked for my first stay at the POLY CL next October, and I was really looking forward to experiencing this resort.... I really don't want to pick somewhere new.....:(. Waaaahhh!

So I think I brainwashed my 2 year old into being a Poly addict too! :woohoo: We got back a couple months ago and have been planning another trip. He of course knows the word from hearing it and says it so cute! Polly - Knees- Sand... :lmao: Anyway, today we decided to add a day at the begining and my daughter request 1 night at AKL. I was fine with it and booked it. (I mean I get a week where I want... who am I to complain?!) At dinner tonight I mentioned to my husband something about it... and my sweet little boy started crying for the Polly-knee-sand! :scared1: Apparently no other resort will do and he already has learned this at the ripe old age of 2!:banana::banana: Guess next time there is a fight I know who will be on my side with staying there!

That is too cute about your little one :goodvibes. Sounds like a smart boy who knows what he wants ::yes::.

We absolutely loved our cabana. They are right near the pool. I was able to sit in ours while the baby slept and still watch DS go up and down the slide and swim. We will definitely be booking a few cabana days next time.

The cabanas sound awesome. We may have to get one ;).

Thanks so much.:flower3: I have read and heard that the Poly pool gets very crowded so having a place to relax and put our things is a must for us.

So glad to hear that you loved your cabana. We are only there for 2 nights before heading to BLT but we are the type of people that really like to enjoy our resort. So we will be booking them for two days while we are there. Who knows, maybe DH and I will become Poly lovers. I am excited for our DS as he will be so surprised when he finds out he will be staying there.:cloud9: I booked a GV CL room and saw the pictures at the beginning of the thread and the view's look so lovely. Thanks for your help.:hippie:

I am sure there will be more questions that I will have.:rotfl:

The cabanas really were great. It's an excellent way to spend the day. I really spoiled my parents this year. ;) it was my sneaky trick to hook them and it seems to have worked!

How do they rent them? I've looked into the ones at the GF and those are either a 1/2 day or all day.....does the Poly do it the same way? Glad your parents loved it. It's not hard to get hooked on the Poly.....we loved the resort the minute we checked in :goodvibes.

They rent them the same way. We did 10-2 and it was perfect for us.

We feel the same way. I'm trying desperately to find a way back ASAP! :rotfl:

Oh no! I hope you don't have to cancel and get to enjoy your trip.

I'm a little sad we may have to cancel, but I am thinking we can go in March to replace it, so that is a positive thing :goodvibes. We are also going to try to go in July. In June we will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and our oldest DS graduates high school, so I am starting the planning stages for a celebration trip the middle of July :wizard:. I keep telling myself that March isn't that far away, so as long as I know I can go back in the near future I'm ok.....but if it wasn't for that, I think I would go nuts :rotfl:.

Thank you....you're very sweet :flower3:. I love Disney at Christmas so it will be a little hard to cancel, but I know I'll be so busy with the holidays and by the time I know it, March will be here and I'll (hopefully) be heading to the Poly at that time :goodvibes.

I've never been for Christmas. I can't seem to wait that long to go see Mickey. :rotfl:

This is just too cute about your DS. He already knows what he wants at the age of 2. Good for him.

We call our DS15 a resort snob because his first resort was the GF when he was 2. Like your DS ours knew what he wanted as well. Our DS may change his mind when he has to start paying for his own vacations to Disney. :rotfl::rotfl2:

Good for you with regard to your parents. Sometimes, parents can be hard to sway or convenience as they are set in their ways. Like my parents. Their first vacation ever was with us to Disney in 2006 and we stayed at the GF RPC. I did the same thing with them as I did with our DS. Started at the top instead of working our way up. They were spoiled.;)

We have booked and canceled the Poly many times as it really doesn't appeal to my DH or I. But I have to say that this is the first time since booking the Poly that we haven't even questioned about staying there. My DH said last night that he is kind of exciting about staying there, enjoying the cabanas and the resort and I am too in a way. We are hoping to see what everyone else loves about the Poly.

We have had to cancel a few times since our trip two years ago for various reasons. While I am very excited :woohoo: it will not be until our plane lands safe at MCO that I will believe that we are finally back :dance3:

For those that want to get pics and updates live from the Poly-or are going soon and want to contribute. I made a FB page so we can get updates since it is hard to post pics on here. It is an open page to look at so if you don't want to "join" that is fine, you can still check it out. If you do, then come join us :thumbsup2 and you can post and comment.

On FB just search for Live at the Poly October 2011 and it should pop up :surfweb:

Happy Travels everyone :wizard:

You are so going to love Disney at Christmas!! It is so beautiful there and fun!! There is so much going on....we also went for NY as well and it was so neat how they did. The theme was Cinderella's Ball and they counted it like the movie counting down to Midnight---it was awesome!! So crowded though one of my kids (much younger then) had to stand on the lampost cuz there was no room on the street...but ahhh so many fond memories of that time. I would love to go again then if only my wallet coud afford it. Have a great time!! :)

We're back!!!!!! I don't know where to start....but between the rain, family that joined us and the issues with our room - I need another vacation!!!! At least my DH has stated that he will NEVER go on another short trip again. We just don't feel relaxed and feel like we missed so much. (We were there for 5 1/2 days.)

Anyway I have to get the kids off to school, but will be back later. However, just to warn those of you going....the heater on the volcano pool is still broken. Made for some chilly swimming, but when we wanted warmth we went to the quiet pool.

Our last day was beautiful and we opted to skip the parks and rent a cabana.....WONDERFUL! Anyway pictures to come later....

I walked in on DS6 drawing at his desk. He had drawn Mickey Mouse with block letters spelling "I mis disney." I know exactly how he feels!!
