ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

I know only Poly guest can book the cabanas but can non poly guest be "guest" in them? We have family staying at other Disney resorts but would love a cabana day for all? (Yes we are thinking more than one cabana, as i'm sure they have a minimum) sorry if this was already covered...there is so much great stuff to read here! I am sold on POLY for our next visit!!

I was just going to ask the same thing! I don't want to cheap out on our cabana boy/girl. From all reports I've read they are very attentive & do a great job!

I just hope I get a really cute cabana boy :rolleyes1

Yes, that is right :woohoo: I booked a cabana today. With all the good reviews and the pictures I just could not help myself! DH just may kill me but it is a risk I am willing to take :lmao:

Tinkerbelle_325 ~ What beautiful pics! I love the flowers you got!

I cannot believe tomorrow is 9 days.:cool1: This trip has been two years, multiple cancellations and a whole lot of not-so-great days in between! I am looking forward to every minute :wizard:

This calls for a creepy guy dance! :dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer::dancer:

:scared1: creepy guy!! :rotfl2:
So excited about the party on the upper deck at the volcano pool!! (we've rented the other cabana that day)

Unfortunately that would be considered pool hopping - only guests of the Poly are allowed to swim in the Poly pools (on busy days the life guards will even ask for key cards & distribute wrist bands).

The next 9 days will fly by and you will be at the Poly before you know it :dance3:. Enjoy the cabana.....they look awesome and so relaxing :cloud9:.

TinkerBelle_325......Thanks for posting such beautiful pics :). The cabanas look great and the grounds of the Poly are always so nice to look at :goodvibes.

love all the pics and helpful info on this thread!! We'll be heading to the Poly for our first stay in 183 days (but who's counting!). Can't wait

Glad you liked the pictures! We requested Mauna Kea as we felt it was a bit more private than Mauna Loa. Mauna Loa is right at the top of the stairs to the cabana area, whereas Mauna Kea is off to the left side.

Oh thanks so much. That's good to know. Dh and I talked about it and we would definitely want the Mauna Kea cabana as well.

BreezysMom I will join in the :dance3::yay::dance3: with you as well. You all must be so excited. The pic's that TinkerBelle_325 posted are fabulous aren't they?

Just thought I would let everyone know that we've extended our 2 night stay to a 3 night stay at the Poly. Even though we have never stayed at the Poly before, we just don't think that 2 days is enough time to really take in the whole experience. Not being Poly lovers yet, we are definitely giving it a try. Besides, our DS is going to pass out when he finds out we are staying there. We have always told him that we would never stay at the Poly.:rotfl::lmao:

Just staring at my ticker today. Come on time, go faster!!!
Congrats to those the single digits!

Excellent choice on extending the stay. Three days may be enough for a test but two days wouldn't give it justice.

Chiming in here with just 28 more days to go!!!

I'm so looking forward to this vacation (just have to heal this sprained ankle from Sunday!!)

Jealous of those in the single digits. Enjoy your stay.

Has anyone experience the shorter monorail hours from EP back to the Poly via the bus?? Just curious.

This is what DH and I were just thinking as well. Now if I can just keep this secret from our DS until next June.:scared::hyper::ssst:

Tinkerbelle_325, Great pictures of the Polynesian. It takes me want to go back right now!

Question though: I need some reassurance on the presence of the volleyball net on the Polynesian Beach as I did not see it in your pictures that captured the beach area in front of the Hawaii longhouse. Is it still there?

Our family had such a great time on our last trip playing beach volleyball it would really stink if they took it down! Thanks!

Arrived yesterday! We arrived by car and someone greeted us and took us to check-in. It was silly but nice service. We did online Checkin but our information wasn't ready so we essentially checked in at the desk. Odd but we were 2 hours early, got our room request (yeah!) and the room was ready. Room is great. Tiny bit of wear on the room but nothing bad at all. At the pool today (cabana day!!). The pool heater is working and the temp is perfect. It's a gorgeous day out and the cabana is awesome!! Oh, we also went to mnsshp last night & the monorail was open till 12:30. It was easy and smooth. So thanks to all that voiced their displeasure over the shortened monorail hours!!!

The pool heater and monorail news just made me so happy! Sounds like you're doing great so far. Have fun!!!

They would not let me request a cabana ahead of time but I checked in just before the other folks & got to pick Mauna Kea. Its definitely the better location but they are both nice so I wouldn't have been terribly upset if we got Mauna Loa! Seth is our attendant ;) he's great!

One glitch was at mnsshp- we got stuck on splash for an hour!!!!! Then were snotty to us as we got off. We went to city hall and they were really nice and gave us some fastpasses for our whole family at any park to make up for our lost time. It worked for us & I was happy they realized we paid good money and we missed out on 20% of the party time. So it ended well!

That is so great to hear about the pool :thumbsup2 I am also happy to hear you got your room request. I just booked a cabana for our stay yesterday for the day after the party because we are usually tired the next day so this way we can relax for the early part of the day. :cloud9:

That stinks but at least they made good on that. I would be bummed to miss so much of the party too! I am glad you are having a great time. :wizard:

Thanks for checking in :goodvibes

Oh no, an hour on Splash Mountain!! :scared1: I'm glad at least they made it up to you in City Hall! Shame you were met with such rudeness when you got off the ride after being stuck for so long. :headache:

Talked to Tim at the bar- changes coming to the Poly to be announced oct 24. Seth our attendant said dvc is being built at gf & they r adding a slide at the quiet pool & that will be the main pool. Then the other pool at gf currently with the slide will be the dvc pool.

So glad to hear about the monorail and the pool - we are doing the single digit dance :banana::banana: :dance3::dance3:

Also glad to hear things are back to normal at the Poly. Can't wait for our trip next month. :woohoo:
