ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

We have booked the Poly again for Oct 2012.

That is awesome! So did we!

I can't wait to go back and I really am excited to start to see the openeing of some of the Fantasyland expansion!

What dates are you going?

I just wanted to post about our wonderful stay at the Poly from Dec. 12 - 18 in a Garden View room in Rarotonga. We had stayed at the Poly back in 1992 and loved it so gave it another try for our 40th Anniversary.

The CMs were wonderful right from our check-in and the patio room we had (1818) was perfect for the ECV my DH needed. We could see the monorail but had privacy from the shrubbery and beautiful gardens. Our room was spotless and cleaned perfectly even though there were days when DH didn't leave the room but for a few hours. The walk to the TTC was short and I liked how close the Guest Laundry was to our longhouse.

We were positively spoiled by the time we left for the Royal Pacific at Universal (a not so nice stay:sad2:) and DH said that he should have bought the Express Passes for Universal and stayed at the Poly two extra days!

Just back from the Poly LATE last night. We loved it and are now addicted. We are also addicted to CL and the Hawaii longhouse. I now understand all of your obsessions :)

Hi all!!

I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this or not, or if I just am sensitive to things, but the Great Ceremonial House seemed to have acquired a scent of some kind of flower during our stay. Whenever we would walk into the GCH we would smell it, and to some people it may not bother them, but we found that it smelled a little "fake" and was quite noticeable.

Just curious to see if anyone else has noticed this!

We stay at The Poly every year, the last 2 years CL. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else! We love it there and have had wonderful trips and magical memories! :cloud9:
Can't wait for September!

Personally I would have issues with the Boardwalk because of that evil clown slide :scared1: (trying to shake that image off now ... )

Why? Now I have to shake the image!! :scared1::lmao:

I personally would have loved torchering DH since he HATES clowns, but my parents have decided that we should stay at the POLY!!!:banana::banana:I am not a fan of switching resorts and we are hoping everyone loves it as much as us! Tonight Grandma and Grandpa are unveiling the big Christmas surprise. I hope this goes well and that they get a great reaction from all of the grandkids. This will be a first trip for seven of them and I've been telling my kids that we won't be returning for at least a couple of years. :santa:

We noticed the smell too. My niece seemed to notice it the most. Smelled more like a floral perfume.

I remember seeing floral perfumes in Boutiki, perhaps it was that?
Who knows, but glad to know I wasn't the only one who noticed it!

I figured it was intentional. Like the smell at the Beach Club lobby. I think it's a nice "welcome home".

I didn't notice a smell at the Beach Club lobby (hehe). I guess it is just a matter of opinion, my parents found the smell at the Polynesian to be a bit overpowering - much like the smell at the Grand Floridian lobby.

I just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a wonderful holiday season! We will be having a Merry Christmas here in Jersey, and I hope all of you and your loved ones have a wonderful Whatever You do or Don't Celebrate and a Happy New Year!! :goodvibes
