I think currently it is not too small for the resort. We have stayed there in the hottest part of August and in the middle of December, and it's never been too crowded. We've always been able to get a table or loungers without a problem.

It may end up too small once the resort has more guests due to the DVC when it is done. But, I'm not sure what the plans are for the rehab... Maybe they plan to make it larger, I don't know yet. We are waiting on some more news before we make a ressie for next August. I think we can deal with the construction, but not the construction and no main pool.

We stayed this past August and I never thought the pool was too crowded. We swam everyday and night and never felt packed in.

Thanks...I'm glad to hear from folks who experienced it first hand as we left wondering if it would fit everyone. We too can handle some construction but no pool and the possibility of no GCH - that will be a dealbreaker for us, for sure.

Why did they cover up the touch screen ordering kiosks at Captain Cook?

Slows things down so much more now.

Could be a computer problem. Are you there now and this is happening or did you read that on one of the previous posts?

We have stayed at the Poly numerous times and all different times of the year including this past August which was scortching hot. We never found the pool to be too crowed any of the times we went. Busy yes, but over crowded no.

We will be eating dinner at Kona in less than 48 hours...

Mostly packed, ressies in place, FP+ too, MNSSHP tix in hand...

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm there now checked in yesterday. Both days the kiosks were covered with a menu board.

That is weird. Must be having computer issues or something. I can't imagine why they would take them down because it takes long enough with them up and running. Could you ask one of the CM's so that we know if this is just temporary? Would be greatly appreciated.

We were at the Poly Oct 19-26 and the first day the kiosks were down was either Fri 10/25 or Sat 10/26 so it's been several days already. I didn't ask about it while we were there since our trip was almost over and I figured it was a temporary thing. Now I'm curious to know what's up!

Nine days!! Single digits! I cannot wait to sink my toes into Poly sand (if there's any left, that is...).

I have the same feedback as other folks. I actually found both pools at WL to be more crowded than the Poly! While we love the volcano pool at the Poly, we end up at the East pool equally (and possibly more) than we end up at the volcano pool. We've always been able to find seating, including a shaded table, and typically only share it with a few other people - if anyone at all! It is less hectic than the main pool and still close enough you can go to the pool bar or captain cooks :thumbsup2 Hope that helps!

Hi all are the rooms in Raratonga all refurbished? I don't want an old room but this location looks good
Thanks

Talk to me about the differences between Kona and Ohana for dinner... We currently have reservations at both during our stay but since the food options seem similar, I'm wondering if we should try a different style at another resort/park.

The food is completely different. Ohana is family style which has sides that go in the center of the table, noodles, salad and such with grilled meats served from skewers. Kona has all kinds of different foods, steaks, burgers, fish etc.... I have a reservation for both on an upcoming trip because they are so different.

I second karriealex's opinion. The experience for both restaurants is completely different. Kona is one of our favourite WDW restaurants, and we love 'Ohana too! :goodvibes

I have had lunch at Kona and had to kinda be careful of price. In December we are doing the dining plan so I can order whatever I want. I am SO looking forward to it. We do Ohana on every trip. I was told it had changed to a plated meal and was very sad but then found out that it was basically still the same as it always was right before our last trip. I was so happy and so relieved. We love Ohana and I am sure Kona will also become a must do on every trip too.

Dole whips at captain cooks you get a free refill? I thought I saw someone post that on this forum. 21 days we will be sinking our toes in the poly beach sand! Whoot!!
