OK, so my husband's brother would like to come join us for part of our trip, starting with our last night at the Poly. His parents (the grandparents) would be more than happy to have him crash on their extra bed... but is this even allowed? Would he need to get his own separate room, since he won't be on the dining plan or need the same amount of tickets? I thought I saw somewhere you can register an extra "guest" with the front desk... just so they know for fire purposes, etc. Anyone know what the fee is on this or how it works?

Yes they can put him on the reservation once they get there and right before he gets there unless you are doing a package. You don't want to do it now because I don't think they can separate it like that. The fee for an extra adult is 25.00 per night and he will get a room key. I am unsure how it works with a package since you pay per person for the package per day. I would get with your travel agent if you are on a package.

Had to share.....

Did on-line check in last night and requested Tokalau & Balcony for our upcoming 9/18-9/24 stay. I am so excited I think I may just burst!:hyper:

Interesting. I know this option wasn't available when I went through the online check-in process a few weeks ago. I think the requests were limited to specific buildings and there was an option for ground-floor but not an option for balconies. I see the option today and made the same requests as you.:thumbsup2

Excited! Just upgraded to CL for our 11/-30-12/7 stay! First trip for all of us to WDW! Any recommendations for requests for this longhouse or CL tips?

This is correct that he can be added when he arrives or you can add him for the night(s) he will be there when you arrive. If you are on a package and you add him ahead of time, he will have to have the same components as everyone else in the room (same ticket days and DDP, if you have DDP) and must be added for all nights of the reservation. If you are on a package and you add him when he arrives, he won't have the package components and will have to buy his tickets separately and pay OOP for his meals (if you have the DDP).

Congrats......you are going to love the Poly :goodvibes.

If you want outdoor space (patio or balcony) request 1st or 3rd floor, the 2nd floor rooms don't have balconies.

Also, make time just to enjoy Hawaii - it's the best longhouse at the resort wrt location. My favourite time is when we're taking a mid-afternoon break. The lounge will be virtually empty and it's nice just to relax, but not in your room. I like to get a snack, sit quietly and just enjoy the beautiful view of the castle and lagoon!

Also, if you are staying GV they pipe the music to Wishes/Holiday Wishes into the lounge and lower the lights, so it's nice to watch from there, if the night is cool or you're tired and just don't feel like watching on the beach. If you have LV or TPV you should be able to hear the music from the speakers on the beach in front of Hawaii on your balcony.

Yep! We had a TPV and could hear everything great from our balcony. It was amazing. pixiedust:

We didn't have one.

Thanks! Was really hoping they had one. We had one in our room at BC last time we were there. Great place to hang our wet bathing suits. Oh, we'll.....I'm just glad to be at the Poly. I guess I can live without a clothes line! :thumbsup2
23 days!!!!

Yeah, sorry, we didn't either.

23 days--you're so close!

I just lost my Mom on Friday. She was healthy and active, but had a massive stroke 3 weeks ago, and never woke up from a coma. I want to plan a WDW trip for my DH and 2 boys, and my dad (the world's biggest Mickey fan). It will give Dad something to look forward to. On our last stay at the Poly, we stayed club level in the Hawaii building. Best location, and perfect view of the castle and the fireworks.

So here is my question for all of you. I am trying to decide if I should get 2 theme park view rooms in the Hawaii building (I think 5 of us in a room may be too close), or if I should get a 1 bedroom suite. I am guessing that the sofa bed would be in a different room, so it wouldn't feel so tight, and would give my Dad a little privacy for sleeping. It would be cheaper than the 2 rooms, but I would like to know if we could see the castle and fireworks. Anyone stay in a 1 bedroom suite that can help? Can we see the castle and fireworks? That is our favorite thing about staying at the Poly. Thanks for your help!!!:)

So sorry about the loss of your mom. I lost my mom totally unexpectedly (heart attack) on Mother's Day 2009. And I lost my dad (following a 2 year battle with cancer) just last August. We planned a trip while my dad was sick - at his urging- and wound up going a week after he passed away. That trip was actually my saving grace. My dh wanted us to reschedule, but I knew that my dad would've wanted us to go.

As far as your question, I'm going to agree with pp and say 2 CL TPV rooms would be the way to go.

Can anyone tell me if there is a retractable clothes line in the shower in the new refurbished rooms?

I see that others have answered that they didn't have a clothes line. Pretty sure I remember Tikiman saying that they were removed with the renovations.

2 days till we arrive "home" at the Poly. I can hardly stand the wait!!! :lovestruc

Checked in earlier today. Upgraded to TPV. So beautiful and everyone is so friendly. Sitting in the lounge enjoying chocolate chip cookies and milk. Waiting for Electrical Parade. I couldn't be happier!

We wound up using the towel rack and just put the towels in the corner of the vanity.

It's just beautiful isn't it? Have a wonderful time and post some pics if you have time.

Ok, please don't flame me for this - I have never been to the poly and I don't know what the culture is like there. Would it be entirely inappropriate of us to bring our three little girls to the beach in their pajamas to watch the fireworks/ electrical water parade? Normally this is not something I would consider but they'll probably be bathed already and need to get to sleep ASAP afterwards. (Unfortunately I don't think I can justify TPV to my husband : )
