ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

Poly in October - yea! :cool1:

Has anyone here had water shipped to Poly from Costco recently? Any problems? Do you just ask for it when you check in?

Did you put the hotel name on the order? (Some are saying not to, but i would be afraid it wouldn't make it.)

So yesterday I had to pick up DS and take him to hospital, today it is DD..LOL I feel like there is not enough of me! Im worried about strep with DD she keeps complaining about her throat..

Thank God I have a three day weekend coming up, then three more work days then ILL BE ON VACATION!!!

I hope everyone feels better soon and you can enjoy your vacation :goodvibes

Good news DD doesnt have strep just a virus, dr gave her a Zpac so both kids are on a Zpac now..

DS goes back to school tomorrow, DD is insisting on going b/c she hates to miss school.

I bought DH and I some multivitamins to try and avoid getting sick especially after reading the threads about ppl being in WDW right now and sick!

Bringing a travel bottel of hand sanitizer for my mini D&B backpack I bring to the parks, Im not taking any chances on ANYTHING ruining our dream vacation! LOL

Just got back and we loved loved loved the Poly!! :lovestruc Never stayed there before and now we just can't picture staying anywhere else, it definitely became home after 9 days!

I'll post a full review, but the only 2 issues we had was that I noticed one day there was a spiderweb on the door frame across from ours, and the next day it was still there. I tore it down myself but I would have liked to see it gone by then from mousekeeping. The second was the lack of air conditioning in the elevators at least in the Tokelau building. the WL and AKL don't have this problem so I was a bit taken back with that...other than that, loved the Poly and can't wait until I can return!!

It's official!

We're going to the Poly THIS MONTH! AAAAAH!!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

And a :cool1: for good measure!

I need to get my fill of the boards today since tomorrow marks the end of my slow season at work. :sad1: Why slow season can't coincide with my anniversary, and thus my vacations, I'll never know...:confused3

;)

My slow season ends this week as well, and I too have spent the Summer teasing myself with WDW

I've read a lot about the Poly this summer and originally wrote it off as a potential resort for our 1st onsite stay because it didnt look great on the outside, and is expensive compared to some of the other deluxes. However, it seems to be held in very high regard by almost everyone that has reviewed it, regardless what site I go on to read reviews and opinions.

The plan was to stay at 2+ WDW resorts and the GF would be one of them. If cost was an issue would people suggest dumping GF in favour of the Poly?

I hate going through this before vacations, but it always seems like a few of us get sick right before. I have even taken an extra zpac with us (really good Dr. trusts me with an extra one). I ramped up the vitamins last winter after a lot of sickness. Now we do a multi, immune c, omega 3, vit d (immunity) - so far so good! I wish you all health and happiness on your trip!:)

hi everyone! i've been reading this post since my boyfriend said we can go to universal studios! (first, we were just going to universal for 2 days and disney for one... then it became 3 days disney and 1 day universal, haha.) he booked us a trip from oct 21 to 25 for my birthday! at first it was in the saratoga but i read how it wasn't as "disney" there and it was further from the parks so i wanted to switch to a monorail resort. it was a few hundred more but he said okay and i am so excited!!! this is our first time to disney together and staying at an on-site resort in general. so keep posting tips and advice for the newbies like me! =)

We are getting so close now and we are VERY excited!! I have a question about the fridges in the room. Do they have a little shelf or a section inside that sort of acts like a freezer? Like cold enough to maybe almost freeze a bottled water or get a blue ice pack really cold?

DH and I stayed at SSR back in 2008 for our honeymoon, DH first trip since he was a middle schooler and first stay onsite. We enjoyed it, it was a beautiful resort, new rooms but I felt so far away from everything so I doubt we would stay there again.

Ive been in love with the Poly since my first time in it at 4 yrs old, we have pics of staying there but I dont remember alot except falling in love with it, I remember being in the lobby, they had live birds there back then. I remember going to the luau and we have pics of us on the beach. So my trip next weekend is a dream come true!

Well my Poly peeps, have a great day!

8 more days!! :banana::jumping1:

There is no freezer section in the fridges at the Poly. The one we had last week was pretty cold, but not cold enough to freeze anything.

T-minus 7 1/2 hours and counting until we leave for Buffalo and 24 hours until we arrive in Orlando :goodvibes

How I am going to get through the work day, I don't know :lmao:

I am mostly packed (just carry on and toiletries when I get home) and now all I can do is read the DIS and listen to live365 to make the time pass :thumbsup2

When we stayed at the Poly last Sept we turned the knob in our fridge all the way to 1 (coldest setting) because it wasn't cold when we arrived. After 2 days, our large bottles of juice and milk had turned into slushies! It can freeze lol, trust me :lmao:

We always end up with a few beer slushies after a couple of days in the fridge. The items in the rear tend to freeze when the fridge is full.

We will be at the Poly in 11 days (:yay:) and I just wanted to know who would be there the same time as us, and if there is a DIS meet scheduled or not. Would love to meet everyone!!

Sooo...in Feb we booked our November vacation and stay at the WL. Started talking recently about doing a big family vacatin next year and my Grandma said she always wanted to stay at the Poly. We started reading up about the Poly the past few days and loved what we saw/read, so last night called Disney and changed to the Poly.

So excited to try something new, and something that looks so amazing! The Disney rep I talked to said she loves the Poly since her father worked there for 30 years basically. I guess that was a sign we were making the right choice with the switch.

Hope you enjoy the Polynesian as much as the vast majority of us do! Welcome to the thread. :welcome:

Yeah we had frozen yogurt-- solid-- after our first night. As the fridge emptied, no more froyo.

On another note: Mmmmm... beer slushies... [/homerjsimpson]
