ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

I have indicated in red the general area the speakers are located along the beach. This is a path that runs in front of Hawaii, and it has speakers every so many feet along it. If you are anywhere on that beach you should hear just fine, take a look along the area, and listen, you'll spot the speakers and be able to locate the perfect spot for DS. There is music playing all day through the same speakers, so a short scouting trip before the show will get you right where you need to be!

I'll do some looking around while I'm there and pinpoint exactly where the speakers are on a map to put in the main FAQ as this seems to be a popular question.

Have a great trip!!

Great map, guitarob!! :thumbsup2 I can add that there is also a speaker in the cluster of bushes on that "island" of grass, just to the left of the your red line. I walked past there many times and could hear the music coming from those bushes, and could also hear the music from there while on the hammocks on the beach near there, and also while on our patio in room 1516 in Hawaii. :sunny:

I LOVE this thread!

We are staying at the Poly from Oct 16-24. First time for me since the 1970s and first time ever for DH and 3 kids. We had planned to stay at POR, but I switched over once the room discounts came out. The kids don't know yet, and will be so thrilled. We have visited the Poly during the last two trips to watch Wishes and go to Ohana, so they know it's wonderful. :goodvibes In 2008, they didn't have music piped in for Wishes, is this recent? or maybe wasn't working when we were there?

I too have braindrain trying to decide which, if any, longhouse to request. I'm down to either requesting a 3rd floor anywhere and leaving it up to the Tiki Gods, or asking for 3rd floor at Tokelau. Watch me not get either...but I'm sure we'll still be thrilled. The only thing I don't want is one of the 2nd floor no balcony rooms.

Can't wait to go and try one of those lapu lapu drinks!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

PixiePoppins - From reading many boards I have learned you might want to specify your request for balcony in your request. That way the CM assigning your room knows that is important to you. something like "balcony room preferably Tokelau" I know that it is a request anyway - but this way I have prioritized my request. Just a thought - I am in NO way an expert - haven't been in many years.

Good luck making your decision - and lots of fun on your trip!!!

Going back to my favorite place and my first cruise to boot! WOO HOO! Disney Dream this February and land portion at POLY! My DD loved the POLY so much on our recent stay, that she doesn't care if we take the cruise, DD prefers to just stay at POLY the whole trip! So now I have to get a new vacation ticker going..:cool1:

Thank you everyone for continuing to post on this thread!!! I am so enjoying your pics and tips. We are going in Feb for our first trip with our daughter and first trip at the Poly (for me...husband has been many times). This thread helps the time go faster!!!

From the inventor of Preschooler Midol, try new Teenager Midol.
:lmao: I need to get my green mickey head so I can be recognized as a DISer. We'll be there at the same time.

Awesome map! We've never seen Wishes, so we're really looking forward to it!

I usually make a smoothie for breakfast at home. Are there places you can recommend to get them at WDW?
I would like to know if there are any good smoothies. Something with protein and lower sugar and more fruit. I know Main Street bakery has a smoothie machine, but I don't know what ingredients it has.

But, YES!! They piped in the music for Hallowishes. I'm pretty sure we also watched Holiday Wishes (avec music) from the Poly beach. :thumbsup2
Cool! Does anyone know what time Hallowishes would be in September? regular wishes is usually at 8 or 9 pm.

Guitarob...That map...so that's what you do when I go to bed?

Well, could be worse I guess ;)

It's practically 17 days!!!!! AAAAH! When we booked, it was like 140+ days. Time really is flying. So how to make it stop when we're at the Poly? :)

Yeah, definitely do. :D I'll be wearing a red & white Hibiscus cross-body bag with my not-so-lime-but-still-green, overly-large Mickey Head attached to it:

Ah, if you figure this out, please postpone one day before you stop time... so we're there too! :thumbsup2

They did last year!! We watched Hallowishes from the beach...and sadly lost our camera there. :sad1: Spent two solid weeks checking with lost and found before finally accepting it. Still check the found cameras blog every now and then.

Yippee, thanks!:thumbsup2 (so sorry about your camara - heartbreaking!)

We also found that at the end of the boat dock the sound was good (right side) and there are benches. It was never very crowded with other guests either. Another nice and quiet location is at the marina where the bikes are parked. That said, we didn't visit that spot this past June and I won't guarantee the sound is great, but it was in the past. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip! We will check that out too!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the additional info - everyone has been so helpful here! :worship:

Now, if I could figure out how to multiple quote on one post!:rotfl:

I hope the other Poly experts correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Tokelau has 2nd floor balconies. I checked tikiman and his description says they do. Just an FYI, again, I may be off here, but I think they have 2nd and 3rd floor in that building.

Now, if I could figure out how to multiple quote on one post!:rotfl:

For multi-quotes: select the little button next to the "Quote" button on each post you want to include in your reply -- it's the "Multi Quote This Message" button, has the little plus sign on it. After selecting all the posts you want to quote, then scroll to the bottom and hit the "Post Reply" button, all of the posts you highlighted with the multi-quote button should now be included in your text editor. Hope that helps and makes sense. :goodvibes

You are right. Tokelau has balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

I had read on the "Spring Thread" that the East pool would be closing for rehab. Does anyone know when this rehab is scheduled for?

hey Missoutandabout, how did you get your lime green Polynesian Mickey head? I clicked on it and I was not sent anywhere, :confused3 so did you do it yourself? Would you then graciously make one for me ? :worship: Please, please, please?

Beaucoup de poussière de fée,
Cilvy
