ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

How comfortable is that futon to sleep on? Bringing my two teens DS17 will be 18 the next month and DD14, I plan on them taking turns on who gets the bed who gets the futon.

Also will mousekeeping put the futon back in its upright position or should we plan on doing it ourselves? Not sure since we didnt use it last yr. We are in the Hawaii building if that makes any difference.

I think the daybed is pretty comfy, my DS9 loves sleeping there, my DS7 though didn't like it at all (he can't sleep no matter where he is, so that opinion is taken with a grain of salt). Mousekeeping never returned it to it's upright position for us, so it just stayed open throughout our trip. They did make the bed for us each day, but kept stealing the pillows from there and returning them to the queen beds vs giving us another to leave on the daybed. :rolleyes1 If the daybed is open when turndown service comes they also prep that for you and leave a little chocolate on the pillow. :lovestruc

Ok.. Guess I will have to irritate my DH and DS to put up the futon each morning..I cant help it Im OCD and like everything in its place, even in our resort room..LOL

You're not alone in that one! I have a friend that lives in Orlando and visits us on every trip. I ALWAYS end up cleaning up his messes and his clothes that he likes to leave piled on the floor. I have on occasion ended up doing laundry for him too. Don't make a mess in my room!!!

If you move your trip by one day it is available for theme park view or if you can change your dates to a week or two later there are tons of options open. That is when we are going.

Amen to that!! I shared a room with my friend and her daughter on this past trip. Never again. I cleaned that room daily!!! I love her, but I could never live with her! :rotfl:

My kids take turns on the daybed - they actually fight over who gets to sleep there so we have to take turns. I could have sworn they put the daybed upright when they cleaned it but maybe not?? :confused3 I do know they don't leave it messy. If they don't put it up during the cleaning, you could do that upon your return.

Just be careful Carl, some of those cooler carrying, kids changing folks are guests who either (a) arrived early and are awaiting a room assignment or (b) have checked out, checked their luggage, and are killing time around the pool until flight/departure time. Both are totally acceptable practices.

We have been both (a) and (b) at times, but did our changing in the third floor of Hawaii. If you aren't staying CL, you do not have the luxury of a private restroom.

Now, obviously, if folks brag about not being guests. . .:confused3. . .all bets are off. :lmao:

I read in another thread earlier today that poly has gone back to using wrist bands to keep this from happening though... not sure on how legit this is... but I'm all for it!:thumbsup2

That's why I tell one of my good friends that if she wants to go to Disney with me she HAS to get her own room, which is probably why she has yet to go to Disney. :rotfl: Thank goodness when my other friend comes he only stays a night or two. I think he plans on staying with us longer this time. If that's the case, he will be given a list of rules before I check him in and he gets a key!

If that's true wouldn't they also be added to the list of pools which DVC members can't even swim at, because what's the point of having wrist bands to keep out guests who are not allowed to swim and still allow DVC members?

It was nice on the room cost, but I'll pay double the price to keep my sanity and order. ;) Just don't tell Disney that. Even my two were annoyed after a while. Guess they're used to my OCD ways. :rotfl:

As of right now Sept 20-28, but I've been known to tack on an extra day or 2 as it gets closer lol especially since I will be staying at my dream resort for the first time. :lovestruc

I just saw this response! We'll be at WL the 25-27 and the Poly the 27-2. Maybe we'll run into you and your uber-clean self!! ;) I'll be there with my two and the grandparents.

I wouldn't have a problem with DVC members using the pool...isn't that one of the cool perks of being a member? Do members have some type of ID? Couldn't they just show that for a wristband?

I don't think I could tolerate her kid either, but we won't tell her that! lol And that's awesome! It will be just me and the kiddos, and perhaps my not so clean friend. :rolleyes1 It would be great if we ran into each other!

Nothing wrong with being OCD, we're meticulous with where we put things in the room, everything has it's place! I can't stand the chaos if I let the kids have their way. As for folding up the daybed, I would probably wait until after you got back in order to put the bed up if you want mousekeeping to clean it. The reason I say this is I assume the people before us in our room closed theirs after each use and when we checked in and opened ours for the 1st time there was a muddy shoe print on the bed. :sad2: I would prefer that the bed be serviced and then close it up when we were back and using the room, otherwise I'm not sure mousekeeping bothers to check it.

This is why we bring along a pop up hamper and tuck it under the sink in the bathroom. No dirty stuff left anywhere since there is an obvious place to put it! plus it comes in handy if you do laundry while at the resort. ;)

Exactly what I would do and what we would do if we stayed in the room for any length of time. :goodvibes

The wristbands were being used during very busy times at the resort, e.g., Christmas/New Year, but I'm not sure how often they would use the system otherwise. I haven't really seen anyone who has recently returned (within the past couple of weeks) who has had to use a wristband.

If that's true wouldn't they also be added to the list of pools which DVC members can't even swim at, because what's the point of having wrist bands to keep out guests who are not allowed to swim and still allow DVC members?

DVC would not necessarily be prohibited from using the pool just because wristbands were used. It is my understanding that DVC uses the pool hopping capability at the discretion of the pool/resort staff. If it is overrun with guests, they would not be permitted to pool hop--at least that is what I understood. Not that I am in favor of wristbands. . .:confused3

Yes, DVC members would have some type of ID.

Well Stromalong Bay at the Yacht Club and Beach Club is the only pool that requires their guests to wear wrist bands and doesn't even allow DVC members to pool hop over there, along with the pools at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Bay Lake Tower. So based on that if the Polynesian was giving wrist bands to their guests I assumed they would follow the same rules.

Now from what I know when DVC members want to pool hop the dates during their stay can't be blacked out and they need to call the resort they wish to swim to see how busy they are, because guests staying there should have access to pool chairs and etc. Plus they also need their DVC member cards if asked for ID since they won't have a KTTW card of the resort they want to swim at.
