ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Fall 2010 Edition

They are glass. We have sport bottles we use in the parks (color coded by child :rotfl:) so we would fill them up before leaving with the water from the glass bottles and then top them off through the day with bottled water from the parks.

They will also give you a bottle if you ask. I just feel strange asking.. They used to have plastic water bottles in the lounge fridge.. But it disappeared too fast.. :confused3

Shoot - I was hoping we wouldn't have to order water. Oh well, guess I'll put my order into Sam's in a few weeks. Thanks!

My understanding of the CL lounges not having plastic bottles of water anymore is that people were kind of hoarding them! Taking a bunch at a time so they could keep them in their room fridge and taking them to the parks. Maybe they just want you to pay a ridiculous amount for water in the park!

Yeah we ask for one bottle at night (for our nightly water and to fill up one of the kids water bottles) and one in the morning, we don't use the ones they leave out in the lounge. Why would you feel strange asking for a bottle of water to take back with you? I see it no different than asking for a beer or two which they also offer in the lounge.

I was chatting with the lounge staff this past visit and we were actually talking about this exact subject. They said it was perfectly fine for people to request water, beers, etc. The only thing they enforce is the 2 alcoholic drink per person at one time policy (but you can come back in a few minutes for 2 more, just can't walk away with more than 2 at one time). They also don't like when people take the entire bottle of wine with them to the tables in the lounge or to their rooms (and this does happen! :sad2: ), it's ok to pour 2 glasses worth and that's all that's in the bottle so be it, but don't take off with the bottle. ;)

I'm glad you mentioned this conversation!!! Now I won't hesitate to ask!

We actually didn't know this last time we were there and the CM overheard us talking about water and brought us 1 large glass bottle per couple that was there. He told us to take them and to ask for more when we were out. Not a problem at all!

We normally have our driver do a stop at a food store to get propel, water, and DR Pepper to feed my soda addiction. Cannot find a Dr pepper anywhere on disney property!

;)

I know that we are paying a lot to get very little.. But I feel like I am begging for something I already paid for.. if I can grab it in the lounge good if I have to ask...not so good.

I have meds I have to take with water right at bedtime and right when I get up so I did ask for water and they gave me a big glass bottle of Evian that they popped the cap off half way and I put in our little fridge in a 7 day stay I only needed 2 bottles. The first time I didnt even ask the guy asked me. He was just so sweet our entire stay his name was Michael!

By the way youll have to ask for several things if you want them so Id get use to the idea.. Yogurt, milk, soy milk and any beer and the fridge runs out of sodas alot so count on needing to ask, they dont mind at all, thats what they are there for.

I actually don't mind needing to ask for certain things. In a restaurant you have to ask. I don't see much of a difference. I'd rather the dairy be nice & cold (which is probably easier to achieve in the kitchen's fridge). And given the opportunity, with human nature the way it is, you know there are those that would horde/take way more than they need just because it's there and they've "paid for it". I can even imagine there are some who would be slipping pop, water etc into their suitcases if there were unlimited supplies sitting out. By limiting the quantities sitting out I'm sure the amount of people making pigs of themselves is more limited (therefore keeping prices down which is fine by me because they are high enough!) It's unfortunate there isin't a way to limit the piggies who see the food offerings as an all you can eat buffet.

Has anyone taken the reigns for starting a new poly FAQ? Aren't they going to close this one soon?:confused3

Guitarob should be notified when that happens since he took over from BreezysMom. Good eyes though--I didn't even realize we were approaching 250.

:cool1: How exciting!!

I am partial to Figi myself. Either side of the longhouse has a nice view. It is close to the GCH and the pool but farthest from the TTC. It really depends what is most important to you, i.e., third floor, close to certain area, so forth...

Happy planning :wizard:
