To take Tick Tock out of the parades and Peter Pan Ride is insane!

But then don't you run into the debate about removing other things that might offend people?

is it often that people die at Disney world in a manner that is joked about in the parks? I think a small child being killed at the gf is major and I think responding in a major way is appropriate.

I'm not waging a campaign to force wdw to do this. As I've stated, if they are in fact removing the gator stuff, I believe it to be an appropriate response to what happened.

I guess I don't understand how its being joked around the park, nobody is making light of this situation. You're talking about characters/lines/rides that were established long before this incident took place. Are you saying its in poor taste to keep them around because of this incident? Primeval Whirl has taken 2 employees lives, should we remove it as well?

I saw a report yesterday that there were tw gators involved in the attack. The 2nd gator attcked the father when he was trying to save his son from the other one.

The signs are needed. Too many foreigners and people from parts of the country where they aren't aware of the dangers visit Disney.
I haven't seen a report where it was confirmed there were 2 alligators involved in the attack. The father claims there were, but in the chaos, confusion, adrenaline and terror, I don't think he honestly knows.

In reference to the characters, lines and rides, remove anything offensive or hurts the feelings of the PC world.

Removing the alligator joke from The Jungle Cruise was appropriate. Any/everything else is a gross overreaction.

I think you can see that a gator chasing hook is a joke about gators attacking. I don't care about tic to. Croc and wouldn't have even noticed had he been removed before this happened.

I think it's fine if Disney wants to remove them out of respect for a dead child. i am personally able to make the distinction between adults dying at work and what happened at the gf. However I wouldn't take issue with Disney either temporarily or permanently closing attractions because a human being died on it. I very much hope it won't happen regularly.

I understand you hold that opinion. I would personally rather see an over reaction to a child's death then an over reaction to removing a couple crocs from the mk.

I have no opinion on the signs or whether or not they should remove things from rides, but I will offer this...

I am from Ohio, and I would never have expected to see a gator in Disney. Not in the parks, not in the lagoon, nowhere. If you don't know anything about the specifics of building the park or what lies just outside the gates, you would just ASSume that Disney has the parks and surrounding areas "locked down" in terms of large animals that kill people. My family has spent more than 100 nights on property in the last 8 years, and never once has it crossed my mind to look out for gators. I am well aware that gators are all over the state and attacks DO happen- but it is easy to get into the "Disney is magical and nothing bad ever happens here" mentality. I consider myself a pretty intelligent person, and while my common sense occasionally takes a vacation just like anyone else, it wouldn't occur to me to keep an eye out for ANY dangerous wildlife on Disney property (save those who can fly in and out). For me, the signs would be helpful as a heads up to be aware of my surroundings. I certainly wouldn't feed the gators when I saw them, though. Even from Ohio, that seems like a big fat DUH. Just my two cents.

I was saying exactly this to my sister and DH yesterday -- seemed like a no-brainier to us. That one joke was just too close to what happened. Removing fictional gators/crocs from around the parks seems absolutely ludicrous to us. Draws more attention, to me.

Well- I've been to WDW 63 times--all week-long trips. That's since 1975--nearly 450 nights. And used to stay at the Poly and rode around Ft Wilderness on bikes and in paddle boats.

Saw an alligator just ONCE in all those trips..a # of years back at Coronado Springs. When we made note of it to our server at Maya Grill, she just laughed and said there are gators all over the place at WDW and everyone is well used to it.

And it would be impossible to "lock down" WDW from gators or any other kind of animal.

Are they planning to remove the alligators at the French Quarter pool? Isn't there a gator in one of the paintings in the stretch room of the Haunted Mansion? I haven't seen anything about removing those.

I wouldn't want to see them or Tic Toc croc or any cartoon type gators or crocs removed.

I don't see how keeping cartoon characters around is disrespectful to the child or his family. A cartoon character hasn't killed anybody.

What's next? Removing the Country Bear Jamboree because people are attacked by bears? Maybe we should take out the Tomorrowland Speedway because so many people are killed in auto accidents.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Angelo Nieves told the Orlando Sentinel Sunday that during initial interviews, a witness also said "he saw a second gator attack the father" as he was fighting with the first one that had his son.

Of course it would be impossible. That is what I mean. It's as if the danger is not realized until it's right in your face. It is easy to believe that it's a "safe zone", when in fact it may not be. That's why I can't blame anyone who doesn't realize it's a danger. It certainly had never crossed my mind before this incident.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but wouldn't it be better to keep alligators such as Tick Tock and Louis in attractions and shows so that people DO think about the possibility of real gators? Because we all know, give it a few months, and the average WDW tourist will go back to thinking everything is fine and safe, and ignoring the signs (if they even see them). I think subtle reminders that make a person think "oh, yeah, there could be a real gator around somewhere" wouldn't be a bad thing. I agree that getting rid of the joke on the Jungle Cruise was totally appropriate.

So they removed the joke from Jungle Cruise but have they actually removed any characters gator croc or otherwise from the parks? I hope not.

In addition to the deletion of jokes in JC, it was confirmed in the days following the incident:
- Tick Tock croc removed from parades
- Description of crocodiles removed from narration for Kilimanjaro Safari
- less than 24 hours before the new Castle Stage show debuted, Louis was edited out of the show and his CM friends were assigned to other roles.

We were in WDW from June 15-23 with CM friends and we noted the alligator/crocodile pictures in the Hangar Bar drink menu book - not noting that it was alarming just that Disney hadn't removed everything alligator related. In the past couple of days, a new food menu for the Hangar bar is in place and the drink menu book has been removed from the venue.

I'm not sure if World of Disney has removed a crocodile window display that was prominently displayed.

Considering all that has been removed, I do hope the signs are noticeable to guests.
