(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- With the opening credits set to be updated, "All My Children" fans are set to get more than they bargained for in the album...
It's that time of the year again! Soap Opera Network has learned that "All My Children" recently shot footage of their new stars for the semi-annual updating of their opening credits. Newcomers Melissa Claire Egan [Annie McDermott], John James [Jeff Martin], Ambyr Childers [Colby Chandler], Taylor Gildersleeve [Sydney] and Brent Weber [Sean Montgomery] will not be the only new addition to the credits, replacing the likes of veterans such as Julia Barr [Brooke English] and Vincent Irizarry [David Hayward] . Sources close to AMC have told us that Jeffrey Carlson will also have a spot in the updated opening credits.

Just who is Jeffrey Carlson you ask? "AMC" fans may remember Carlson because has appeared on the program before. In late August, Carlson played the demanding British rocker that Josh and Babe successfully persuaded to participate in a new Fusion campaign. Carlson is infact reprising the role of Zarf in late November, where he'll be very busy mingling with the owners and patrons of this town's busy fictional businesses.

This show is showing signs of very poor writing and directionless storylines- and has been for a while.....anyone remember Port Charles:happytv: another good show gone bad...such a shame.

There are just so many news format shows you can watch. We want good daytime TV...not just a band-aid put over the gaping hole! Soaps will get their ratings back if the writing improves...end of story. There are some great veteran actors and long time favorites on AMC. The writing (and clothing) should be age appropriate for the old favs, and realistic for the younger actors and believeable - mind the details!...The writers should understand just because we enjoy daytime TV does not mean we are stupid.

Did any of you watch LOVING? Used to love it.

I never did, but my mom & 2 sisters watched it. They really enjoyd it.

We already the 3-hour Today show here - runs a consecutive 3 hours. When we are in Florida they do 2 hours, then Regis & Kelly & the other hour of the Today show.

I certainly hope they don't cancel AMC. As someone said previously, it would be like losing friends - friends that I share lunch with every afternoon!!! :sad1:

I think you absolutely right on the money. The writers are missing the boat..and alienating the very people who actually watch daytime.
I remember watching Port Charles..and really liked it..until..as you said..it went bad...with the stupid Vampire stuff. Ridiculous. I did like it prior to that..it's storylines started out varied..in both ages and interests. Then..kids and vampires. Good-bye.

I enjoyed the brief bit we had with maggie and Bianca today! that looked that crossed between them was sweet!

Just pick up the latest Soap Opera Digest, they FIRED Cady McLain! They're killing Dixie off next week as the lastest victim of the Satin Stalker or whatever lame title they've given the killer. This irks me, I've watched the show since it started (as a little kid). :(:sad1:

Makes you wonder why they brought her back at all. What really was the point?

I just read that today. Why in the world did they bring her back? What is going to be the use of having the little girl turn out as Kate? This soap gets weirder by the minute. I can barely watch 10 minutes of it. :confused3

I don't like it either. I never understood why they put Dixie with David years ago either!!!

It must be hard getting fired in the Soap World. It's not like a regular job where you get fired and you clear off your desk you walk out and that's the end of it. You actually have to come back to work and die some horrible death....knowing you have been fired.

I still can't believe they let Julia Barr go like they did. Don't the writers/producers respect not only the actors but the viewers who have watched this show for years. I would think the other actors on the show are pretty upset over these kind of things.

Maybe the show is going to be renamed "All My Grandchildren". And it will be shown on Sat morning on ABC. Right between the Emperor's New Groove and Lilo and Stitch.

Erica will look like "Baby Jane" and Jack and Jeff can chase after her in a Jazzy.....

Me too, they can cancel it as far as I am concerned and extend OLTL and GH!:thumbsup2

I've been feeling the same way lately. Mostly I've have been a viewer of AMC since Day one..and a long time viewer of GH also..not quite as long..but from 1980. I feel like I've grown up watching these shows and the characters. From a jr. high schooler...to a young mother..and ..ehmm to the mother of teens and a twenty something. I am very disatisfied with the direction of both soaps toward the teenie bopper set. I have teens..and they wouldn't watch this if I paid them money..there isn't enough money in the world.:sad2: They have different cable options that appeal to their age group. These shows are trying to stay with trends and appeal to younger viewers..frankly I think it's a mistake and they are missing the boat there..because they can't compete with cable and what teens really watch anyway. So..what do they do..? :confused3 they alienate their long time viewers in hopes of what...an audience that isn't there for them anyway. Makes NO sense. It really does seem to me that you can watch for 10 minutes here or there..and be on the computer or cook dinner or vacumm. There are times I find myself switching and watching something else during these teen scenes..and frankly I don't go back. So the idea of them going to a half hour format..I can see it..there just isnt enough to interest me anymore. I know when I'm working I'll catch it on Soap Net..I'm usually just watching who I like..and then switching to network tv..I almost never watch a show all the way through, like I used to love to do. There isn't enough there to hold my interest.

I find myself doing the same thing. I have it on, but do not feel compelled to actually sit and watch it for the entire hour. It is background noise unless something is going on...

It's sad that the show is losing their faithful longtime viewers and not doing anything to attract the next generation of viewers.

Maybe it's just me but it's the little things that piss me off. Part of the "soap" life is the glam clothes and unrealistic love and work life....that is part of the reason why I like the show....it's unrealistic realism:rotfl: However the other day when Jonathan called the credit card company and got personal info....well that kind of writing loses me. It tells me that the writers are lazy and they can just write what ever thay want and who cares...maybe I am a bit detail oriented....but things have to make sense to hold my attention.

Hey Auntie! I remember how Port Charles went down the tubes too....that entire vampire thing. It started out OK...kind of like a Dark Sahdows kind of thing. Then there was the Rebecca painting storyline. The girl in the painting came "alive":rotfl2: It went downhill fast! They did the same thing with the lead actress Lucy Coe on that show as they do with Erica. She was way too old to be wearing the skimpy short mini skirts and half tops and she acted like an idiot....
