All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

In theory, yes. In practice, no afaik so far. We asked last summer and our guide checked every week and said there were no tower studios available for FW purchase. I think this was discussed a month or two ago and other more current buyers got similar answers.

I had my guide check last month - confirmed some visibility but only those duos above 100 pts.

I can confirm duo fixed weeks at Polynesian are indeed available for sale. Unless I change my mind before closing, I will have a fixed week for a duo at Polynesian. My guide was quick to be able to access the fixed week info, but it didn't seem like it came up often with buyers; I don't think it's a popular option.

Even though DVC can, they won’t. There must be some algorithm they use as to when and how many, if any, they want to release for sale.

I got a “ not being offered” in July for RIV tower studios despite them being on the chart for periods where it was 100plus points. I was not really interested in them so I never questioned it.

A RIV duo would be a rough week, I think this BLT studio is about as small as I would ever go and that is solo, I would not even do the BLT studio for a week with 2 or more people.

I could see it as an “ extra bedroom” if I had a 2br or GV in addition to the tower suite

Riv Tower Studio pricing is odd to begin with because they’re all considered “Preferred View” or whatever. Standard view deluxe studios at Riv are largely on the same side, facing parking lot & Epcot, and for all the extra space they’re only 3-5 points per night more.

At Poly for the Duos, at least they’re 4-10 points per night cheaper than the 4-person Island Tower studios!

Curious to know if any Disboarder bought FW at VDH? If so, which week? Which room cat? Did you ask about off-menu like one of the garden villas?

I haven’t but considered it and asked specifically about the garden villas - my guide looked but said none were available (most likely bc there are so few overall).
Thanks, I think you are right.

Thought I’d ask…

Had anyone here bought VDH FW39 or FW50 Duo Studio?

I did it.

“We” bought CFW FW39 122 points.

DW loves Halloween. Her favorite holiday!

Disney Golden Retriever (age 1 1/2) needs to have a place to stay when we go next year.

So I really had to…

CALLING ALL FW FANS!

Guys I’m having second thoughts after looking through points charts. I am still in 10-d recision period for FW39 but am now thinking of switching to FW50. Is this smart and pragmatic or dumb and greedy?

Current Contract Status:
I signed, DW hasn’t yet.

Contract Background:
FW39 122 points; Add-on small contract 28 points to reach 150 for incentives.

Contract Assessment:
1. Point differential between FW39 and 40 is 54 points.

2. Differential between FW50 and 51 is 100 points.

3. Since we passed June, I pretty much had to use my DEC instead of JUN UY for FW39 (so I would get extra 150 pts for 2024), which is the second worst pairing (1st would’ve been an OCT UY).

Of course DEC UY would be ideal for FW50.

4. FW50 is 145 points so I would just carry 5 extra points for 50 years of dues (to get the incentives @ 150p.). Those 5 extra points (let’s say $60 per year x 50yrs = $3000). But that would be more than offset by the favorable differential between FW50&51 (even if we discount by half to 50 pts per year at $60 pp is $30000 over the life of the contract)

5. I’d save a relatively tiny bit on closing costs and $250 document prep to switch.

6. I mentioned the wife’s love of Halloween, but honestly, she loves cmas season almost as much. (Its just the work of xmas overlay she does every year at the house, office, and parties that makes the Halloween Season inch ahead.)

Plan: Just email my guide and tell him to make it happen?

What you all think?

Are they going to allow you to buy the extra 5 points? Did your guide say that was an option?

The rules say they can allow you to add points directly to the fixed week contract to make an incentive level, OR you can add a 25 point additional contract ( I just did that).

I think having a 25 point separate contract is better since you can offload it later, or use it like I will to add on the preceding Saturday so you are not stuck with Sunday to Sunday.

If the price were the same, do you want to be there at Halloween or Christmas time?

Oh yeah, Week 50! I doubt you’ll ever regret it.

If you need some more encouragement to make the switch:

2025 rack rates - Week 50 costs about 50% more than Week 39.

IMG_1445.jpeg

Decisions should never be made on this alone but it does make you think about why those rack rates are so far apart. Both have the awesome Fort holiday spirit. Sept can be unpleasant between heat, humidity and bugs (sometimes mosquitos). The odds of which is more pleasant year after year? I’d take December! Not to mention DVC point charts are oddly low compared to rack rates in pre-Christmas December. Not sure why it remains a low point season but if any season was going to get adjusted upward, December would definitely not surprise.

Thats a great question! The answer is yes!
My vote is week 50 - and I say this as an owner of WK 39 (at RIV). I just don’t see there being as much demand for 39 (making it easier to book if you didn’t have the FW). But week 50? Probably near impossible.
This is problably the most persuasive advice so far. If I wanted to check out Halloween Season at the Cabins, just book it at 11months and skip FW50 that year.
I think @AstroBlasters has a good question.

I would not buy the week because "it's a good deal." I would buy the week because it is the one I wanted.
For sure agree with you. Never only because “its a good deal”.

I hate heat, humidity, and mosquitoes (but I thought they were erradicated in DW??). Looking like 50.
