I feel like this topic is at the point of "beating a dead horse" but my Dad (who will be traveling with me) asked a question I didn't know the answer to.

I understand the new regulations of what you can bring onto the cruise ship per person; however, do they keep a tally of it? What if you got off the ship in St. Thomas for an excursion and came back along with 2 bottles of wine. Then decided you wanted a jaunt around town and brought back another 2 bottles. Will that be allowed? Will they even know?

Thanks in advance.

The system will show multiple embarkation and disembarkation, so yes they know your going on off and will start to wonder why. First point, - you know the rules. So why with intent plan to try to breach them? 2/ The security personnel are on most of the day, they could well remember. 3/ I think they will note booze on the system, as you are not the first to consider it.

Bottom line. There is a rule well published in advance, why plan to breach it?

While it may have sounded like I had the intention of breaking rules, I do not. I was information seeking for someone and believe that the question was a good one (as do you, since you assume others have considered it). Thank you for the information and the judgment. Others who may be interested in a question/answer like this will now also have your input.

I seriously doubt they would care if a person did multiple trips off/on the ship in any port. There are lots of perfectly good reasons to do that. I'm also doubting that anybody does anything beyond checking that a guest isn't bringing on more than the allowed amount when they board IOW, they probably don't actually keep track.

do you get to keep the bottles with you that you bring on or does dcl confiscate them and give them to you at the end of the cruise?

You can keep up to two bottles of wine per adult 21 and over at each port. DCL will store any additional bottles of wine and all bottles of hard liquor for pick up on disembarkation morning.

That depends on what you bring on and the amount. They would confiscate any hard liquor (rum, vodka, whiskey) or anything over the limit of what you're allowed to bring on board.

but if I bring on 2 750ml of wine, I can take that to my cabin and open it correct?

You should have your "Dad" ask DCL security this question when you are on your cruise. I think it's a good question.

Enjoy your cruise!

LOL. If I had thought of this question myself, believe me, I would have asked it. My only question has been "I wonder if I wrap this box of wine as a gift they'll figure out it's wine." HA!

Have dad take another adult so that each can get their allotment. I know my SIL plans to use my daughters allotment on our next cruise.

This is a good point. Remember the limit is per adult, not per stateroom.
