I called dining reservations to see if anyone had canceled Cinderella’s Royal Table for that day. I had tried diligently on 60 days out for each day I would be in the park but was never successful. (And yes, I followed all the PS tips but only had one line to try on – no cell) I discovered you could not check for the day you were calling, even though I had read somewhere else that people sometimes cancel the evening before.

I went to the front desk to see if they could check but they told me that there was no way to see and I had to make those reservations 120 days in advance. I never did convince him it was 60 days and he had no idea what I meant by a cancellation.

Oh well, so what, we’re going to the Magic Kingdom!

We were held outside the turnstile because the crowd was so large waiting for the Mayor to allow us in. Lela was excited to see the train arrive with Mickey, et. al to greet us and once we went past the station there were already lines forming to meet the characters now stationed around the town square. This summed up what my morning would be! ;)

The idea of going to any major attraction was gone; we stayed and gathered autographs and then walked to Fantasyland. We rode Pooh’s Honey Pot and Peter Pan’s Flight. Neither had more than a 5 minute wait.

There were more characters gathered around the area, so we got some more autographs. Lela especially liked meeting Ariel who told her she reminded her of Melody. Now my daughter has no resemblance to Melody whatsoever, but it made Lela’s day!

We took a quick spin in the teacups and then went to Mickey’s Toontown Fair. Acck!! I’ve got to admit, I loved the architecture but we went to the Hall of Fame and stood in lines to meet characters.

Thankfully, we had been tipped off by another guest that Cinderella was in there today. Rebecca had packed Lela’s Cinderella dress in my backpack and we placed it on her. We were so grateful that she got to meet her; it was our primary character mission!

Even though we had to get in separate lines for sets of characters, it was nice to have so much time with them in a more private environment. As far as Lela is concerned, Cinderella took the time to stoop down and talk to her and that made her feel important.

We went back through to meet the Pooh characters and toured Mickey’s and Minnie’s homes. We met Mickey in the judge’s tent and he and Lela danced a bit.

Rebecca and Rosemary shopped around while Lela and I waited in line for Mickey’s Barnstormer. I wanted to use it as a test for her with faster rides. She wanted to go again once we were done.

She did complain that she liked it except for the part where she hit her head. When I asked where she hit her head she gave me that look that daughters give their completely clueless fathers and said “On the rollercoaster, of course!”

We went to Cosmic Ray’s for lunch and then hit “It’s a Small World” and Snow White’s Scary Adventures. I was concerned about Snow White because of what I had read, but Lela couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about. She took it in stride.

Somewhere in this point we rode Aladdin’s Flying Carpets and Cinderella’s Golden Carousel.

We went to Frontierland and since we could walk on to Haunted Mansion we did so. What was I thinking?? I remembered the fun song and comical ghosts. I did not remember how dark and scary it was. She wanted to leave when we were in the streching room but she was very brave through the whole thing.

When we left she told her mother that “those ghosts wanted to kill us”. I felt about 2 inches tall even though she rode it okay. She told me she didn’t want to do that one again, and I assured her we wouldn’t.

We rode the riverboat which I had never done before; it was a nice trip and then we went to the Country Bear Jamboree.

We wanted to take the railroad to Main Street to see the fireworks (park closed at 6) but it was after 5:00 and the train stops one hour before closing we were told. We hoofed it towards Main Street but got caught in Adventureland with a character greet by POTC.

When we reached Main Street Station I asked two distinguished looking CMs if that was a good vantage point to see the fireworks. They told me there were no fireworks on nights that had MVMCP. As I looked at the name badge, I asked “Main Street Jim?” – and it WAS!!! I got to meet Intercot’s own MSJ and my main regret was not having enough time to speak to him. He was very friendly but unfortunately I did not catch up with him again.

We left the park and saw fireworks while we were waiting on the bus. (Maybe they were a different set, eh?)

That night we drove to Belz for some souvenir shopping. What do you mean 192 isn’t International Drive? No wonder I can’t find it! Let’s see, here’s International Drive and there is Universal..oh wait, I need to be on the South side….okay, we’re here. What? There are three of them??? Okay gang, we finally made it and have 15 minutes before the store closes! And we still got gifts for everyone!!!
