Looking to go to Hawaii in June from the western united states. Could leave from Phoenix (my preference) or from Los angelas, las vegas or san diego - whichever is cheaper. I have been told a good airline to fly is Hawaiian air. I have also been told flights are cheapest about 3 months out. Anyone have any advice on flights to Hawaii? Does the info I've gotten sound right? Thanks!

June (the whole summer, really) is a very popular time for travel to Hawaii. Lots of west coast families go for summer vacation. I would look now and buy anything you can handle in terms of price. It is highly unlikely fares will go down from what they are now. The 3 month rule might have been the case in the past but is really no longer valid due to flights always being full and airlines not needing to discount their prices in order to fill the plane. Also, with the insane cold weather, more and more families are booking warm weather vacations which is only going to increase demand. There are very, very few direct flights to Hawaii from the Mid-west and East Coast meaning all those travelers need to connect via a West Coast city increasing the demand (and price) on those flights.

Check Allegiant Air out of Las Vegas for June. Those are the least expensive I've seen for June. Second choice would be Phoenix. I believe US Air had the best prices.
