Christine said:I won't take it because I've heard of a few people who got really sick from taking it (and know one person who did). It is mega doses of certain vitamins and some herbs. High doses of certain vitamins can be toxic and, with my delicate system, I'm not taking chances.
Like annej, I'm a Zicam user. I only use the nasal gel. If you use it, do not "snort" it up your nose. There are reports of people losing their sense of smell. If you use it as directed and just coat the inside of the lower nose, you won't blow out your olfactory bulb!![]()

chell said:Thanks Christine! That is one thing I was afraid of because my body is so screwed up. Looks like I may be trying Zicam instead. Is it just like any other nasal spray?
Christine said:Nowadays, Zicam comes in many forms. I stick with original form which is a nasal "gel" (not so much a spray). It comes in a bottle and you squirt it into your nose, but it is thick (and cold). Then you pinch your nostrils for about 5 seconds and wipe of the excess.
You can also get the gel on "preloaded" swabs (which is actually really nice) but a bit more pricey.
Zicam comes in all kinds of formulas now for allergy, coughs, etc. If you are trying to stave off a head cold you just want to get the nasal gel.
