Airborne OR Zicam - Have you taken either?

Zicam tastes nasty, but I found out that using it and doubling up on my ClaritinD really made for a short cold.:)

This will be my 4th winter with Zicam - it is the best!

I don't know what I will do on my next flight, I use Nasal to keep my nasal passages moist on planes (it is dry membranes that allow germs to enter your nose) - now no gels on planes :furious:

I swear by Zicam and use the nasal gel. It cuts my cold to three days - and worked for the last three colds I have had. I was amazed.

I'd have to agree. I tried Airborne but after a few sips I could not get it down. I love Zicam nasel gel. As long as you start using it at the 1st sign of a cold, it is great. When my drug store was out of the gel, I tried the rapid melts. I found them horrible. I also tried the oral spray and my body rejected it. As soon as I tried to swallow it, it came back up. I didn't bother trying it again. GROSS.

Thanks again everyone. I ended up getting some Zicam because I wasn't sure about all the stuff in Airborne (being that I'm allergic to so much crap). I thought about trying the Zicam allergy stuff but it has sulfur in it and that is something I'm also allergic to. Hopefully I'll have a good report on this stuff in a few days.

I just started both today. Was feeling a bit sick earlier at work and had that tickle in my throat. The zicam is the melt away tabs. They are kind of wierd tasting, but they work. And the airborn is icky tasting. I got the lemon line flavor. The first glass to drink was hard to get down. Then I decided to put a lot of ice and an equal packet in the second glass. Sooooo much better. Tasted sort of like flat 7up. Neither taste great, but if they are going to work, I'm taking them. Plus, medicine doesn't always have to taste good.

I put Airbourne in juice. It just changes the taste a bit, the rasberry is actually good in orange juice! I swear by Zicam too. Zinc tabs do not do the same job for me at all. I use it every six instead of 4 hours. Doesn't seem to change the effectiveness.

Michelle,

Are you allergic to "sulpher" or "sulfpha". There's a difference. I am allergic to all "sulpha" drugs; however, sulpher is not a problem.

BTW--I have a raging cold right now and, for the first time, the Zicam did not work. :guilty:

I swear by airborne. I put the tablet in a small amount of water, like a shot glass full, then its easy to drink right down. I don't htink I could handle 8 ounces of it! The lemon lime flavor is the best. My 6 year old takes airborne Jr. I have tried zicam and it made me so nauseous that I couldn't use it.

I use Zicam and zinc drops and haven't had a cold since 1996! My daughter is the healthiest kid I know...whenever she is exposed to a cold she comes to me and asks for zinc and she never, ever gets sick. I swear by the stuff!

I did try them once. Unfortunately, they made me sicker than I have ever been with a cold, so it was a one time only deal. Incidentally, I still had the cold and it lasted about 10 days, the same as a cold without treatment.

I also have used Airborne and use only a little water. Less to drink that way. I figure if I can take tequila shots, surely I can handle a little Airborne.

Not sure whether it really works or it is just the power of my mind.... ;)

I use the "Wal-Bourne" generic version of Airborn that is available at Walgreens, and it comes in lots of flavors and doesn't taste all that bad. I usually put it in Crystal Light anyway to kill the taste. We start taking it 3 times a day when we feel something coming on, and it really DOES help. I have all kinds of immune issues, and have never had any trouble with the Wal-bourne.

Both actually. Yeah, I know, I'm weird. Sulphur will burn my skin if it has direct contact and since it was the nose gel it wouldn't be a good option for me.

Oh, got it. You poor thing. I think I've met my twin with "sensitivity" issues.

I was just at the doctor for a possible UTI and BEGGED the doctor not to find anything wrong with me as I do not want to take any meds. They are more problem then help sometimes!

Due to my sensitive self, I would never swallow an Airborne! It would probably kill me!

 It sure does suck to be so sensitive.
