After 7 Trips We're Finally Staying At the BC! May 2012 PTR: New TR Started!

What a fun spring break. . .and Disney in two months--whoo hoo :goodvibes Yet another fun Disney Night! We're going to start doing our own this week--it just looked like too much fun, had to get in on the pre-vacation fun :)

We tend to stay in Pigeon Forge when we head up that way... it's been awhile since we've been to Gatlinburg. Have y'all been to Wonderworks? We went there for the first time back in October... my girls loved it.

Glad you are feeling better!! Around here we have been dealing with sinus issues due to all the pollen. When you turn on the window washer on the car, the pollen is so thick it looks like mud :scared1:.

Splash Mountain night had yummy food!!!! I love watching the ride videos on youtube; that will likely be as close to "big" rides I will come on this trip :sad2:.

We're going to be at the Beach Club June 2-9th. We will be getting into Orlando the night of the 1st. We will probably pass each other on I-75. :goodvibes

Love Splash Mtn night! My little guy is excited to ride that this trip for the first time! Looks like your Spring Break contained the same activities we have planned for ours this week! :)

I started my PTR today. . .you inspired me!

Sounds as if you had a fun spring break!

Many a time have I watched my children try to move that giant ball in front of Ripleys!

Here are my guesses for the bunnies:

1. You
2. Alex
3. Lauren
4. Mike
5. Grandma

That sounds like a fun spring break!! :)

I am sorry to hear you were feeling unwell. :sad1:

Your Disney nights look like a lot of fun! Can't wait to hear more!

oh my gosh! You need to come back! The suspense of who did which bunny is killing me!!! :scared:

Did you do your Disney night? I still can't believe I'm going to Disney in less than two months.

We tend to stay in Pigeon Forge when we head up that way... it's been awhile since we've been to Gatlinburg. Have y'all been to Wonderworks? We went there for the first time back in October... my girls loved it.

We've never been to Wonderworks. It's on our to do list for the summer though! :thumbsup2

Yuck! We had that start happening this past week. Allergies around here are pretty bad too. Hope you all are feeling better!

Yay! I can't remember if you've stayed there before. Maybe we should occassionaly wave outour windows while we're on 75, just in case we're passing each other.

:woohoo: I'll be heading over to your PTR sometime later today. Gotta get caught up on here first.

It's so funny to watch all the children (and adults) run over to that thing and push it around. I'll post whose bunny is whose in just a minute.

That sounds like a fun spring break!! :)

I'm back! I'll post about the bunnies soon. Wouldn't want you to die from anticipation! :rotfl:

I’m back! What a crazy two and a half weeks it’s been! But first, the results for who made what bunny! They are:

1. Me
2. Alex
3. Lauren
4. Mike
5. Mom

Okay, about my weeks off from the Dis. First I had a crazy week preparing for the school’s spring festival. I’m room mom in Lauren’s room so I was in charge of coming up with a theme for a silent auction basket. I then had to coordinate the turning in of money and items for the basket, put the basket together and deliver the basket to the school the day before the festival. I think the basket turned out okay. It was called “The Bear Necessities.” It was a mountain/camping survival kit. Here’s some pics:

The kids had a fun time at the festival. They had bounce houses, games and food. Here’s some pics of them having fun:

The next week I spent getting ready for our church’s Night of Praise which we held on Palm Sunday. I mentioned before that I’m one of several children’s choir directors at our church. When we have a huge group sing during services sometimes the woman who’s in charge of all the children’s’ choirs asks me to help her direct. Since we had grades first through fifth on the stage, it added up to over 100 children (not including the middle schoolers and high schoolers). Here’s a video of the rehearsal: (Children’s choir is in front, middle and high school is behind them, orchestra behind them and the adult choir is in the choir loft.)

This past week I got to go on a field trip with Alex’s class. We went to the Sam Houston Schoolhouse. I didn’t grow up in Tennessee so I had no idea who he was. If you’re interested, you can google him. The kids and chaperones had a fun time. We got to visit the museum, the schoolhouse, make candles, learn about spinning, and how they ground up corn. Here’s some pics:

Last, but not least, this has been Mom’s first week as a retiree. She seems to be enjoying it and we got together yesterday for shopping and lunch. We each got a dress for Easter had lunch at McAlister’s (do y’all have one of these? I LOVE IT!), and then went to Target (or Tarjay as I pronounce it). This is where I made a few Disney purchases. I saw on another board an idea to change a baking sheet into a dry erase/magnet board. So I got two of those. I’m also planning on making a trip folder for the kids which will include some sticker pages. So I got a couple of stickers for the kids too. Here’s a pic of my goodies:

Up next, Everest night and Day 4 of our trip plans

Disney Night #11 Expedition Everest

This was Alex’s pick. I’m still not sure why he picked it since he’s refused to ride it but maybe his new interest in the ride means he’ll ride it this trip!

So here’s our invitation:

For our food we had items that you would find at Yak and Yeti counter service:
Honey Chicken
Rice
Egg Rolls
IMG_8886w.jpg

Dessert was Klondike Bars:
IMG_8887w.jpg

For our activities the kids watched ride videos while under “tents” that Mike made out of blankets, played Break the Ice, and made flag banners (like the ones hanging around Expedition Everest). Here’s a pic of our banner:

Another fun night! The kids had never eaten Klondike Bars so that was a fun new treat for them.

Our next Disney night: Mexico (and my first attempt at making churros)

Day # 4 - A Castle and Some Seafood - May 27th

I’m am getting so excited thinking about this day. First, I get to walk down Main Street in the morning. It’s one of the things I visualize when I’m stressed out and need to find a happy place. I absolutely love, love, love the first morning walk down Main Street! The way the street glistens from the street being washed, how the stores look in the morning sun, the smell of the goodies coming from the Main Street Bakery beckoning you to come in and try a morning pastry, the excitement of everyone walking to their first ride of choice, and the way the stores frame the castle as you walk closer and closer toward the blue and gray symbol of all that is happy and wonderful. Can’t you just picture it? I’m ready to go now! Pack the bags Mike! We’re going!

Well, I guess I’m going to have to wait 40 something more days to experience it for real. But until then, I can dream. I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to at some point stop in the Main Street Bakery and sample a morning pastry.

This is the morning we’ll try to get some of the big rides out of the way. BTMRR is supposed to be closed during the first part of our trip so we won’t have to worry about it on this particular day. So I guess Splash will be our first ride. It will be interesting to see if both kids will ride Space Mountain since they are both tall enough.

We’ll spend the morning in the park and then we’ll go to Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. A first for us. Mike and I have been drooling over the food pictures for this place. YUM!

After lunch we’ll ride a few more rides and then head back to the resort for some pool time.

We’ll then get ready for our dinner which is at Cape May. Another first for us. I am going to eat seafood until I bust! Can’t wait! We then plan to spend a relaxing evening at the resort. I’m thinking that this night Mike and I might ask Mom to watch the kids while we walk over to DHS and sneak a quick ride on ToT.

That’s our day 4 plans. Up next: A day of me screaming and a dinner next to a volcano.

Everest night, how cool!

I think I'd say POTC and BTMR are my MK favorites.

I've been to LTT for lunch... I cannot remember what I ate, but I remember liking the meal, LOL. And dinner at Cape May is really good! That's coming from someone who doesn't like seafood. I like some seafood, but there's a ton of non-seafood fare on the buffet. I feasted on corn bread, mashed potatoes, prime rib, pasta, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes, ribs (which were delicious) and mac & cheese (yes, from the kids' buffet  ) Oh, and the Oreo bonbons are SO YUMMY.

YUM!! I LOVE me some Yak and Yeti, counter service and table service!!

I can't say that I blame Alex at all about not riding Everest; I just can't get up the nerve to get on it myself!! I am terrified of heights and Dale said on that big lift, you could see our house :lmao:.

Day 4 sounds like a blast!!! We have never eaten at LTT or CM either, so I can't wait to hear about it!

ooooh, i was so close on the bunnies. LOL

The EE night looked SO GREAT!!!! You sure go all out for your theme nights :thumbsup2

The MK time looks GREAT of course :) I mean, how can you go wrong in MK right??? LOL

Looking forward to seeing the Mexico night! Good Luck with the churros :)

Your theme nights are so creative! I bet they really add to the excitement of waiting for your Disney trip to arrive. :thumbsup2

I have never actually visited Magic Kingdom in the early morning. But reading your description of it makes me want to!

Love Everest night! I should not have looked at the pics right before dinner...it made me want to scrap what was cooking and go get Chinese! :rotfl2:

We are going to Cape May on this trip, too. I love that place! I think I eat enough shrimp to fill up for a week, just at that meal! They also have really good chicken salad (strange, I know) and cheese rolls!!

Can't wait to hear more about the other days and about churro making!!

It is a really big lift. It's a wonderful view of the park though. :thumbsup2 I'll be sure to take lots of food pics for the TR.

I may have gone a little overboard with Mexico night tonight...It kind of looked like we had stepped into the actual country. :lmao: I'll let you know how the churros went soon.

Looks like we will be touring Magic Kingdom on the same day!! Be sure to say hi if you see us!

I'll be looking for you! :thumbsup2

I have never actually visited Magic Kingdom in the early morning. But reading your description of it makes me want to!

I'm always scared that I haven't planned enough for the Disney nights. But I at least hope they're helping everyone get excited for the trip. The morning is my favorite time visit MK.

I'm a big fan of Chinese food so I was really happy about making the honey chicken. You and eating shrimp at Cape May sounds like me and eating sauerkraut at Biergarten. It's the one time a year I get to have sauerkraut and I eat enough to not want it again for a whole nother year. popcorn::

Disney night #12 – Mexico night

This was my pick and will be the last one that I chose. I think since it was my last one I went a little crazy…just a little. I think out of all the ones I’ve picked though, this was my favorite. I have a weakness for Mexican food. I just love it so much! I’m not such a big fan of making churros though. Don’t get me wrong, fried dough tossed in sugar and cinnamon that is then dipped in chocolate sauce is WONDERFUL! But boy! They are much more fun to eat than make. I can’t wait to eat some in Disney where I won’t have to make them. Without further ado, here’s some pics of our fun and surprisingly hilarious Mexico night:
