After 7 Trips We're Finally Staying At the BC! May 2012 PTR: New TR Started!

You and your family always seem to be having so much fun!! I love the water rides, but it seems like I have a big ole target on my back saying "Wet me the most!!!!!" The last time we rode Kali we ended up buying Tyler some new shoes, Amanda a huge towel and me a new shirt. I had on Crocs and there was water pooled in the toe area :lmao: :rotfl2:.

Your trip to Dollywood looks like lots of fun! You sound like me--I made Disney planning lists all the way there, too!

Love the Beaver Battle! :rotfl2: we may have to try that next time!

Dollywood looks like fun!!

Wow, they really got wet! :lmao: I don't suppose you were doing any of the shooting at them? :rotfl:

I am up to my ears in lists right now...I have so many, that I need to make a list of all my lists. :lmao:

I am really hoping that we have great weather on our trip. Not too hot, not too humid and no rain. (I am not asking for much.. :rotfl2:)

I may have shot them with a "little" water. :lmao: I too have a list of my lists. :thumbsup2

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!:rotfl2: that's funny! I thought maybe you just put it there b/c you couldn't see it UNDER his nose :lmao: - just thought I'd tease you a bit ;)

Dollywood looked like fun :thumbsup2 I have heard of the place but never had a clue what it was like there so it was neat to see some pics from there.

I can be pretty oblivious to things. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Dollywood has come a long way in the last 5-10 years. They've added some more thrilling roller coasters. It's one of our favorite places to go during the Spring, Fall, and Winter. We usually go to Dollywood's Splash Country (waterpark) during the summer.

BEAVER BATTLE!!! :lmao:

And your pics just prove why I don't go on water rides... Mike and the kids are soaked to the skin!

Glad y'all had a fun day. I may have mentioned this, but we thought about renewing our APs for Dollywood this year, but decided against it. With all the other things we have planned to spend money on (beach trip this summer, WDW in October, rip out the carpet and install hardwood floors sometime...) we thought we'd better hold off. Maybe we can manage a day-trip over the summer, though!

I used to go on water rides but I'm like you, if I go on it, I will be the one who gets drenched.

The APs are expensive! And if you add the AP for Splash Country onto it, it's insane. That's usually what our tax return goes for. Hopefully you can make a trip there this summer!

The one time I rode Kali I didn't have a dry spot on me. I might as well have stood in a downpoor. That was the end of our time in AK. I had to go back to the resort to change. :sad2:

We try to have a fun time. Some of my favorite memories are from going places as a family. I hope we're giving the kids some great memories.

I got a good start on my lists! Beaver Battle is a must for our kids. They beg to ride it before they even enter the park.

Well folks, I had every intention of posting a list of my lists today, but I got a call this afternoon that changed all that. About 2:30 the phone rang and it was the kids' school. Considering that the kids leave school at 2:50 I figured it probably wasn't very good. The secretary said "Alicia, Alex is in the clinic and I don't want to alarm you, but he hit his head pretty good on the playground. You need to come pick him up." Now, I've talked to this woman many times and I just knew from her voice that it was going to be worse than a bump on his head. Even after I got to the school and saw Alex, I didn't realize how bad it was since his hair was in the way. But he definitely had about an inch and a half cut on the top of his head. Everyone agreed that he needed to at least go to the doctor to have his head checked.

So off to the doctor we went and to make a long story short, he had to get 5 stitches. I never once saw him cry (he said he cried once at school), he never screamed, he was as calm as an 8 year old could be. I normally would have been hysterical, but since he was so calm, I had no reason to be my crazy hysterical self. I'm one proud mommy right now!

Not at all how I thought I would spend my afternoon but I'm so grateful it wasn't any worse. I think God was looking out for my little fella today. :goodvibes

Your trip to Dollywood looks like a fun day!

Here's another one with you and Dana---I don't do the wet rides anymore--at least not the ones where you get drenched. I haven't ridden Kali River Rapids since 2005!

Just read your post about Alex's accident ---We must have been posting at the same time.

What a trooper---5 stitches and no crying! I would cry just at the word stitches! So glad it wasn't any worse. I know he'll enjoy showing his "battle wounds" off to his friends!

The APs are expensive! And if you add the AP for Splash Country onto it, it's insane.

Exactly! We've never been to Splash, but my oldest DD went with a friend last year and LOVED it. So this year when we were discussing whether or not to get the APs, Shane mentioned he'd like to get the ones for both parks. Holy moly, that's a down payment on a Ford Focus!

Poor Alex! DD had to get 5 stitches in her forehead after playing hide and seek under bleachers (duh!) a week before our last Disney trip. A soccer dad loaded her into my van and stayed with her so I could drive her to the ER. She never made a sound, I cried the whole way there :lmao:

I had a lot of catching up to do! :scared1:

I hope you had a nice Easter! We will be sure to wave periodically as we travel down i-75. ;) We've never stayed at the Beach Club but we sure are excited to give it a try!

I loved both of your Disney nights. We have the same Yeti ball. Since Josie can't ride we spend a lot of time in that gift shop. We brought home the Yeti kitty last trip. :rolleyes1

The mustache pics were fun and hilarious! Love them:thumbsup2

Keep the fun coming! Following along is getting me excited for our upcoming trip. :goodvibes

I hope Alex's head is feeling better. He sure is tough. I'd still be crying my eyes out!!

I'm not sure if I ever got around to posting on your PTR before, but I've been following along because we're planning our 2013 trip and I'm torn between April and May. (Crowds vs. Rainy Days) and I'm looking forward to your TR when you get back. Your family is adorable and I'm loving all of the attention to detail in your family Disney Nights!

Anyway, just wanted to say how glad I am to hear that Alex is okay! I know how scary that drive to school must've been. Five stitches isn't exactly nothing, but I'm so glad it wasn't any worse.

:goodvibes

Thanks again for letting us all share in the excitement of your Disney planning!

Aww, poor Alex! But thumbs up to him for keeping calm and dealing with the doctor's visit. When I was his age, I broke my finger in a classroom locker, and I hated the whole hospital process, but later on, it was cool story to tell. I'm sure a few years from now Alex is going to be telling his friends how he had to get leave school and get 5 stitches.:goodvibes

Sounds like you all had a lot of fun at Dollywood! Some really good family friends of mine have season passes to there, and they have nothing but good things to say about it. Although, I take what they say with a grain of salt, because they also claim Disney service is terrible compared to Dollywood's.

Alex is a much bigger person than I would have been! Tell him I'm mighty proud that he got stitches and didn't even cry. :thumbsup2

Thank you! He was a real trooper! He said he showed several people today. ;)

It really is insane how much the APs are for both. Mike usually buys them so the last couple of years I didn't know what he paid. This year he told me what they were up to and I was like :scared1: We get our monies worth out of it though. We go to Dollywood around 4 times and Splash Country about 4 times.

Yikes! Glad Alex is ok... and yes, what a trooper! I would've been a nervous wreck.

Thanks! I was okay until he went to bed last night. Once he couldn't see me I had a pretty good cry. A little bit of relief and stress rolled into one.

Oh my goodness!! So glad Alex is ok--what a brave guy!!

Thank you! He was very, very brave.

His head looked really bad and everyone at the school kept looking at me with looks of concern but were very calm and smiling toward him. I normally would be a wreck but it was bad enough that I didn't want him to know how bad it really was. It was only after it was over that he had an idea of how bad his head was really cut.

I had a lot of catching up to do! :scared1:

Thank you! I love my Yeti ball! He sits on top of my piano. Alex hasn't even complained that his head hurts. He told me "I think God gave me the hardest head." :)

Thank you! Since school was letting out the speed limit was 15 MPH in the school zone. I thought I was never going to make it to the school!

He will defininatley have a story to tell.

Dollywood does have very good customer service. It's more of a southern hospitality kind of customer service though. Lots of "y'alls" and "honeys" when people are talking to you.

Alex is a much bigger person than I would have been! Tell him I'm mighty proud that he got stitches and didn't even cry. :thumbsup2

Thanks! He keeps telling me he's a big man and he acted like one yesterday.

Poor kiddo (and mommy)!!! But I love the "He told me "I think God gave me the hardest head."" That is so sweet .

Been looking at the BC recently. Right now sister and her family are going to be at CR, my parents and other sister at POR, and me at POR. However there are some things coming up that my dad and other sister may or may not be able to make it :( So if we all go we'll stay where we are originally, if one of them can come then we still stay original. However, if they both can't come then mom and I will upgrade to BC (somewhere neither of us have stayed either) and fly down as well. It will be cool to know someone else will be there as well if we do stay there :)
Can't wait for you to post your list of lists (I like to make sure I'm not missing anything ;) ) And your next Disney Night. And glad to hear Alex is alright! (my scar from 5 stitches just looks like a natural line on my forehead almost 30 years later ;) )

Finally got caught up. Poor poor Alex. :worried:

So glad he is okay.

I enjoyed reading about your Disney Nights. It looks like a good way to build the excitement.

So glad Alex is OK. There is nothing more frightening than to see your child bleeding.

Thanks Dana! It was very frightening but he's doing great now. :thumbsup2

At least if you don't get to all go to Disney, going to the BC makes up for it, right? :thumbsup2 Alex's scar is so far in his hairline that unless he goes bald on the top of his head, it won't be visible.

Finally got caught up. Poor poor Alex. :worried:

We love our Disney nights. Getting ready to post our last couple ones here in a little bit. We only have 4 left!!! :scared1:

I am such a bad DISer! :scared1: I am so sorry y'all! I'm in the process of typing a bunch of updates and my goal is to post several today.

Alex got his stitches out this past Wednesday. It's healing nicely and he has been so excited about being able to play during recess and participate in P.E.

So I'm off to go do some typing. Be back in a bit with some updates. :thumbsup2
