I'm not sure if anyone noticed this but I found this extra line on the 2009 Moms page:

We will begin accepting applications after 10:00 am Eastern Daylight Time on September 8, 2008.

Can you believe, of all days I have to drive into work to give a training session?! (I work full time from home.) And I can't even take a break to quickly apply as Disney (and many other sites) are blocked at work! Hopefully there aren't 20,000 people waiting to apply and get in before me Monday evening!

Oh, wow! Thanks for the "heads up," Diane!

I'm thinking there's no way 20,000 people would apply before sundown on Monday. ...Right?!? ('Talk about feeling distracted at work!)

Thanks, Kristen!

So, how was your oldest DD's first day of school?

My DD8 had a great day! Thanks so much for asking. Well, I am now the mom of a third grader! I have a picture, in case you are interested.

Since my youngest doesn't start school until Friday, here is a beach picture of her from the other day. Do you like her little starfish accessory?

Hi, Kristen! :wave2: 'Just noticed we're both logged on and "burning the midnight oil" (or almost)...

Fun! Thanks for posting! ('Gotta love those school-bus shots! :thumbsup2 )

Oh, and the starfish accessory is awesome! :teeth:

One week to go for the 2009 contest to kick off. Excited?:goodvibes

Thanks for the answers so far to my inquisition. Good stuff. Keep 'em coming if you like!!

Since I asked so many questions, I figure it's only fair I try to answer a few myself as well..

That's all I can think of for now. Let me know if you agree/disagree.:surfweb:

I agree with everything you put in there, Brett. [For those of you who want to see what I mean by "everything you put in there" please see Brett's post #1508 as that text isn't carrying over from Brett's post to my quote for some reason :) ]

Hey, I was just thinking about how all (or almost all?) of the Panelists will be in WDW for the Everest 5k run and wondering how the Moms Panel questions will be answered during this time? Maybe Disney could let some guest (DIS) moms answer some questions from home during the days when most of you are there? I would be happy to help cover the queue while you are all there! Anyone else willing to help?

Fun! Thanks for the heads-up, Bret. (And great job, Kara and Samuel! :thumbsup2 )

I'm 'sorta messing with the chronology of your questions :rolleyes1 , but – since we’re on the subject of Moms Panel videos -- I thought I’d take a stab at answering your inquiry about them:

popcorn:: I love Kristen’s suggestion to include a video detailing Disney’s Magical Express service (It’s a bummer Disney couldn’t use your footage, Bret… ) :guilty:

popcorn:: I thought I read somewhere that one of the Panelists created a video explaining Disney’s PhotoPass service. If not, I think it would be a worthwhile topic that could cover:
-Where to find PhotoPass photographers in the Parks.
-How to save money by pre-purchasing your PhotoCD.
-How to review and edit photos.
-A reminder to take a photo of the ID on your PhotoPass card – in case you misplace it.

popcorn:: Likewise, I’m sure that “newbies” would appreciate a segment about dining reservations:
-What’s an ADR? (Advance Dining Reservation)
-How far in advance does Disney accept dinner reservations?
-How do you contact Disney to make dining reservations?
-What are some of the most popular venues, which book fastest? Etc.

popcorn:: Since many of the “Moms” plan to attend Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP), it might be fun to create a segment highlighting some of Disney’s hard-ticketed special events.
-Hard-ticketed events require a separate ticket for Park entry.
-Revelers will receive wristbands upon entry in the Park; meanwhile, regular Park-goers must vacate the premises before the party starts.
-Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP), Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) and Mickey’s Pirate and Princess Party (P&PP) feature special, event-specific parades and fireworks displays.
-The Parties also offer unique photo ops, such as pictures with your favorite characters in seasonal garb, Princesses with their Princes, etc.
-(This is a start anyway… )

popcorn:: Finally, I suspect that the average vacationer isn’t even aware that Disney’s Wide World of Sports hosts a number of races as part of Disney's Endurance Series. The upcoming Expedition Everest Challenge might provide the perfect opportunity to gather some pre or post-race footage and create a segment on the subject. ::yes::

Anyway, for what it’s worth… :flower3:

DISgeeks, these are great ideas! Videos detailing Photopass, all about ADRs, the various hard-ticketed events, and running events would be helpful to lots of guests. Great job!:thumbsup2

Hello and good morning!

Just checking in. Funny that the posts start slowing down once school starts! Everyone is so busy!

I hope things are going well for everyone!

I am having difficulty finding where to go for the new application process for the Mom's panel from the Disney website. Last year it was at the bottom of the park screen, if I recall correctly. I went into the Mom's panel area and didn't see anything.

Can someone give me some feedback? Or am I missing something pretty obvious? HA HA! Like that hasn't happened before! (IE: sunglasses on top of my head when I am looking for them!).

Thanks everyone!
Leslie

The contest will be at "www.disneyworldmoms.com/2009", but it isn't up and running yet. That web adddress sends you to HERE right now (which DOES describe the application process).

Kristen - I'd be happy to help you!

Hey - I know you guys believe in Disney Karma! Guess what? Remember my training session scheduled for Monday? Due to different circumstances, it's being delayed to the following week. I feel so much better now! I don't have to worry about 20,000 people applying before I get home!!

Here! Here! I can't believe it. I hate they are doing it at that time of day.

There are some Moms that do work....and for those of us that do work, we can only hope the spots don't fill up too quickly!

Maybe it will be a well-kept secret this year!

:woohoo: Nice!! :woohoo: (What a relief, huh?? :thumbsup2 )

'Sorta sounds like a Moms Panel "internship." (You could be Moms Panelists in Training. :teeth: )

Sadly (Hmmmm.... I can't say I've ever seen that word at the start of a sentence pertaining to an upcoming Disney trip :upsidedow ...) Anyway, sadly, I can't extend the same offer of assistance, since I'll be at the World at that time without regular Internet access.

I forgot you are getting ready for the Yeti. I am sure Disney won't need us then anyway.

You are going to have the best time! I wish I were going, too! It would be fun to meet you and the others attending! TTFN:goodvibes

I am glad this worked out for you. I am taking a half-day off from work on Monday, so I am all set as well. I am getting so excited!! TTFN

Oh, and BTW— I finally got to listen to the Moms Panel on Lou's show. I have been loading up my iPod with as many shows it will hold and then reloading it with more as I finish them. This show was a great one!

It looks like we missed Laura's birthday. Happy belated birthday Laura. How did your birthday dinner go? Which suit did your husband end up wearing? And which tiara did you wear? I am guessing it was your new one that you mentioned he ordered for you from the Enchanted line, am I right?

Kara, if you are out there, have you ever tried spotting Disney characters in the clouds. My kids and I have always tried to find them in the clouds. It is fun to see their imagination working. It sounds like it would be great fun to shop with your family!!

Kim, I loved your tip about not waiting to bring young children to Disney World. I totally agree that I would feel like I was missing a piece of me if I didn't have my Walt Disney World memories of my children when they were younger.

Everyone did such a great job on this show, (as they have done with all of their Panelist "work"). These things that I just mentioned are just the first few things that come to mind from the show that I listened to last week before I went on vacation.

Yeah, I am on vacation this week!!:woohoo:

Also, I noticed on Heather's blog that it was or will soon be her birthday. Happy Birthday, Heather!

And lastly Lou, I heard you mention at the end of that show that it was your birthday. If you're out there, I hope you had a nice birthday, too!

I hope I didn't miss anyone else. If so, happy birthday to you too! :mickeybar

With all of the back-to-school busyness, I sort of skimmed a few posts and forgot to comment.

Wow! 'Looks like there are a lot of long overdue Birthday Wishes to bestow:

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Laura, Lou and Heather:

'Ya know: This is the first I've heard that Heather has a blog. I checked it out, though, and sure enough... Here 'tis: A Day in the Life...

*Darcie's Blog: Such the Spot

*Heather's Blog: A Day in the Life...

*Kim's Blog: Stop A Moment

*Leanne's Blog: Leanne's Life

So, are there any others that we've overlooked?? :confused3

Just wanted to say good luck to everyone here!!! I thought I missed the date! Phew, big sigh there!
Have a nice weekend....and get your fingers ready to type on Monday!!! :)
