Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

Hey there! It's Heather R. with the baby, not Kim. ;)

I didn't wean her, just finally convinced her to drink from a sippy cup. We'd gotten one of those sample cans of formula in the mail so I didn't even have to buy any, what luck. She drank that while I was gone, and I just pumped and dumped. (Sorry if that's TMI anyone!) Dh said he had to carry a cup around all day and she drank a teaspoonful at a time, but we all got through it. I just couldn't bear to wean her. She is, I believe, our last baby, and I'm just not ready for her to grow up. She turned one on Monday. :sad1: :sad2:

Thanks for asking! :goodvibes

Heather- I'm so glad the sippy cup & formula option worked for you. I was wondering how you worked it out.:)

A couple of things (again!)......

If anyone could pass along that a lot of us are having problems responding to the email, I am sure we would greatly appreciate it!

Heather, I am glad things worked out for your baby! I knew they would, but as Moms we always worry!

I also wanted to say...wow! You guys are answering a ton of questions. What was the projected number of questions per week... I thought it was 8-12...but apparently some of you have your monthly quota met already!:thumbsup2

Take care everyone!

Bret, sleep may be over-rated for you..but not for this gal!:cloud9:

Sleep well everyone!
Leslie

BTW Darcie, if you read this board, one of my closest friends has an 11 year old girl with Down Syndrome also. I'm glad there is someone with this experience on the Panel.

You're friend and mine, Ratboy, pointed out your post to me so, of course, I had to respond and expand a little bit on my answer to your question. We had a great time during our September Grand Gathering including cramming all ten of us (I swear it's true) onto a surrey bike bigger than I thought possible at the Boardwalk one night. We could only manage two laps because we were cracking up so much. :rotfl2: Don't know what your travel party will be made up of, but ours ranged from age 1 up to 69. I highly recommend it!

Darcie

Seems like we have a bunch of night owls here!!!:rotfl:
I must say I prefer them a.m., after some much needed coffee that is.

Heather- glad things worked out. I have three and my youngest is three, I still call him my baby. (except now he can talk back! GREAT)

I was able to vote, and another window popped up saying thanks for updating your profile. Have a good day, I am the nursery coordinator at our local church so today we have our staff retreat I'll check in later.
Good day
Julie

This is alittle off the beaten path, but my Ds13 noticed while watching the the Mom's video that you guys where tested on your Disney Knowledge. He asked me if there was a book with interesting information that he could read about before our trip.

He would appreciate any suggestions!!! :flower3:

That part of the video interested me, too! (It looked like a lot of fun. :) ) It also seemed like just about everyone eagerly shot up a hand -- ready to answer.

My question: Were the trivia questions a recap of information you gleaned from an earlier scheduled Park tour, or was this stuff you already knew?

HMMMM:rolleyes1

Well, I am hoping that there is something I can get my hands on for my son. I am sure I could google something. But I figured, why not ask the experts first!!

Oh, my question above was intended to be entirely friendly, btw. ;)

As I watched the video, I sort of projected myself into the situation (as I'm sure a lot of the people reading this thread are doing -- sort of living vicariously through the panelists :thumbsup2 ). Then, a few things crossed my mind:

-Wow! 'Gotta love that fairy godmother! Disney sure does go out of its way to keep things interesting!
-Hmmm! This almost seems like a game of "stump the panelist," yet nobody seems the least bit perplexed. I wonder how well I'd do in that trivia contest? (I was sort of hoping they fed you the answers first, then tested your memory later. :rolleyes1 )

Good morning!
I'm wondering if the voting issues have to do will our email provider. I have msn. I tried opening the email in msn & hotmail neither worked. I also have a yahoo email address, so I forwarded the email to that one. When I opened it in yahoo I was able to vote. Hopefully if they are checking who voted they will be able to figure out I did vote. I wish we knew how to get in touch with them because it really does seem like quite a few of us are having issues.
Well I'm gonna go check out the progress of our panelist. I haven't had a chance to really look through the questions much yet.

How awesome is Kara!!! I was asking quick and easy questions and then I really came into a problem and throw her a curve with a previously answered question!! I am able to make my ADRs in a week and my family didn't agree with my previous recommendations. So, look at the great answer, and yes we are definitely going to try TS at one of those locations!!!:flower3:

Thanks for recommending 50's primetime. Sorry, my family is not interested in eating there. So, which hotel is closest to HStudios that we could eat at and then travel over to the park? We are staying at the GF! Thanks Annette-wishesqueen-good luck

The Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, and Yacht/Beach Club resorts are near Hollywood Studios and can be reached by walking or by boat; and the dining choices are many with those resorts. For something more casual and lots of sports activity, the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk may work. If your family would like more of the elegance of the Brown Derby, consider the Yachtsman Steak House at the Yacht Club or Flying Fish at the Boardwalk.

Would you be interested in a late dinner? After spending time at Hollywood Studios, you could return to the Grand Floridian to eat Narcoossee's watch the fireworks while dining.

I hope these new choices are more helpful - thanks for letting me try again

That's really a good idea to follow-up on a question. I love it!

Regarding the training: the lady was "Ivanna Dream" and she was hilarious. I believe she works with Disney training/conventions - something to liven up the meeting! It was mostly just a fun little surprise for all of us. Most of the questions did relate to stuff we had learned while we toured the parks, but there might have been other stuff as well.

I'm so glad I could help! I was so delighted to be able to give you an answer you could use; that is what the board is all about!

I'd love to hear your thoughts about your dining experiences after you get back, too, if you have a chance.

Thanks again, Kara

My3boys

Thanks so much I just ordered Walt Disney World Trivia!!! We have the hidden Mickey book already.

I would love to tell you about our dining experiences when we get back. Last year I posted on allears, all our dinner reviews under Stas526 if you want to look those up.

I am a stay at home, and the best part of any vacation is not cooking and not making the beds. The laundry accumulates but I hide it from myself very well while were away.:rotfl2:

So one of my favorite things to do is make our ADR's. My daughter is a picky eater so visiting the menus is great. My DH's only request the whole trip is that he gets a shower and sit down dinner in that order. Such an easy guy!!!:flower3:

So the last thing that we want is DD not finding anything to eat, but on the other hand we love trying new places, considering we go to WDW every year.

Well, I absolutely LOVE the panel. I applied and didn't get too far!!! Maybe next time. I have spent so much reading all the all the questions and answers and rating all you guys big fat 5's!!!! (even if I didn't ask the question). Keep up the great work, I am learning so much!!!:teacher:

This is completely OT, but I was wondering: How many posts do you have to have on the DISboards before you can start including links to outside sources like Kara/my3boys did? Thanks! :)

Hey everyone!

I just rec'd another email from the Mom's panel. It was awesome. They indicated that they heard some of us were having problems voting so they had an additional way to do it! I was able to vote, however, I am concerned that my address wasn't updated! It was a temporary address when dh was activated after 9-11! I just don't understand why I can't change the address??????The owner of the home is also military (and knows us..but has renters) so hopefully he will forward it to me if it does go there! You all should get a second email. It was so nice of them! Thanks Disney!

That's Cool Leslie, glad you feel better about the situation. :) Hopefully everything will work out, who knows maybe the post office will forward the packet to you.

I received another email too! I was finally able to vote! I had to use the Web Browser option but it worked! :worship: :thumbsup2 :cool1: :rotfl2:

No follow-up e-mail here... I didn't have any trouble voting the first time, though, so at least I got to submit something! :thumbsup2 I would have liked to have seen the message, because it's fun to receive mail from Disney! :)

Oh, and please disregard my earlier post about adding hyperlinks. :rolleyes1 Somehow I got the idea that you must have a certain number of posts before you can add a link... :confused3

Anyway, if I did it correctly, then the following link should take you to http://www.deepdiscount.com, a site that http://Mousesavers.com periodically mentions during [Disney] DVD sales. The site also sells books and currently seems to carry all of the titles that Kara/my3boys mentioned. It also offers free shipping. Woo-hoo!! :) ('Not sure how Kara made her links look so pretty -- without all of the http: "business" on display -- but I'll get there... ;) )
