Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

I want you all to know that Disney must have seen US in the parks in February to have this theme for this year:rotfl2: .

We "Celebrated Life" and my birthday too, in February. My TR link is below and I never finished it, but for MY sake and memories, I just may! It has the PTR and TR all in one. I never had too much of a following, but finishing it for me sounds good, esp in light of Disney's new Celebration theme. We had "Celebrate Life" on the back of all of our shirts and even pins made up with the theme and my DD10's 5 year old impressionist painting of Mickey.
We were there Celebrating out family's journey through childhood cancer-that she was 5 years off chemo!

:cheer2: :yay::cheer2: :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2:

Hi Lori, you must finish your TR, please? Due to your post I started to read you PTR and TR tonight and I have only paused because I really should go to bed. Your story and your family had me in tears and thanking God for my good fortune. I am so happy that your DD is cancer free! What a miracle. From what I have seen and read so far you have a beautiful family and a great spirit for life. So please, finish your TR and thank you for sharing this incredible journey with us.

Has anyone attended any of the tour events yet???

When I first checked last week, I saw Minneapolis on the map but there was no information. When I checked this morning, I see they will be here TOMORROW but there is still no additional information...just the street it will be on (and no cross street!).

How do we find out more info? Oh, how I wish it were on the weekend! I thought for sure it would be at the Mall of America...

What do they do at these events? Just hand out balloons? Is it worth missing work for????? :confused3

I plan to go to our event in Michigan but it isn't until Oct 3.

If you applied - maybe, while you are at the event, the Mom's Panel email fairy will send you a "you're moving to the next round" email :) How cool would that be to be at a Disney event and come home to awesome Disney news!! Is there an event in Orlando or has there been any word about opening ceremonies at Magic Kingdom?

Hi everyone! Here is a picture of Evan, already 1 week old.

Jennifer, Thanks for sharing! He is adorable. I know what you mean about the scratching thing. My daughter (now 20 months) was born with nails so long, I could have taken her for a french manicure on her first day :rotfl:

Take care and have a magical day.

Way to go Erin!!!! You made the news. See the link for an article about the Moms Panel in today's Orlando Sentinel

Kudos to all the moms on a year of great informative work!!!!:worship:

Hopefully some of us can follow in those footsteps!

From the article:

The current panelists at disneyworldforum.disney.go.com — known on the site by their first names, home states, pictures and bios — have already achieved a certain celebrity status within the online community of Disney fans. So as they prepare to rotate off the team at year's end, Disney faces a bit of a problem: Does it just let them go? Do they have their own online fan base?

"They've done an incredible job of launching the first year of the Moms Panel," Jakubowski said. "We want to make sure they still have a role. We haven't determined that yet."

WOW! I mean, I knew you guys were famous.. but man, those of us who actually get to follow you have HUGE shoes to fill ! I think we knew that, but that quote from the article just shows it!

I'm happy that the new panel doesnt necessarily mean the end for you guys either. That last quote by Leanne is exciting!

I read your thread. You and your family certainly do know what it means to truly celebrate life; you have been through so much together. :grouphug: I won't ever forget your story. Your daughter is an inspiration and you are a great Mom. I look forward to hearing about your many future Celebrations of Life!

Here, here!

Thank you for sharing such an inspiring story. It really makes you count your blessings with your kids.:goodvibes

It was crazy this morning. I was in a PTA meeting and read the article on my phone. I think my scream was pretty distracting to the guest speaker:lmao: . Mostly I was thrilled that the reporter didn't print any of the more stupid things I said. Whew! :thumbsup2

Good luck to all the applicants!

I totally agree! Excellent/exciting article!

Evan is just precious. It makes me wanna reach out and pick him up-he looks snuggly! Congrats!!!! I cannot wait for my sister to have her baby boy-1st one in an all girl family!

Thank you again- you all NEED to go hug your kids and thank God for them. I am happy you all know how blessed you are! I am always telling people that and it can be hard to appreciate thier every moment(hello, I want some of my own moments!!;) :lmao: ) as life gets in the way sometimes. As ong as we all come back to what is important, right??!!!

Hilarious about reading that in the PTA meeting-how ironic-Disney MOMS panel- PTA-doing what your title says, being a mom.

That was a really cool article, minus the "her and her family" part. That aggravated me a little, but nevermind. Anyway, I am excited just to hear what they have in store for the outgoing panel members. It sounds like Disney will be keeping you in their arsenal somehow or another. KUDOS:thumbsup2

What was wrong with "her and her family"? :confused3

This self proclaimed English and Grammar queen (that would be my AP Comp and Lang professor from about 11 years ago) gave me a public lashing for using the same phrase, "her and her friends" to be exact. After a 10 minute rant on how incorrect that was and why that was so, I was left with a forever impression of, "she and her friends" on my mind. I will never remember why it is wrong, just that it is wrong. It won't show up as incorrect grammar in MS Word that I have ever seen but, far be it from me to ever do it again and risk Junior class humiliation flashbacks!! Anyway, that is why (or so I have been led to believe) after making a long story not so short. Sorry for the original rant.

I love to read interesting stats. I think these stats explain why Disney is selecting 16 panelists in 2009 (that, and the fact that it will take (at least!) 16 to fill the shoes of the current 12!):

The inaugural Moms Panel has been nearly overwhelmed, drawing more than 20,000 questions in less than a year, including a few thousand that were screened out. The panelists have answered about 10,000 questions; 4,000 or so others went unanswered until they fell off the list; and a few remain. The panelists work at their own paces, though each has answered at least several hundred questions. Foster has answered more than 2,700.

I hope the Moms received my submission the other day and it didn't fall offf the list (although it wasn't meant to be posted).
