When is it too late to add a day to your tickets? We have a 4 day base ticket but may want to add a day. When would we have to decide by? Can we start using them and then add?
Thanks!
Amanda

You can definitely use them first before upgrading. I think you have until the end of the last day you use the tickets to upgrade.

We were just there and tried to add the hopper option to our passes after we used them for 2 days. Since we had purchased our tickets prior to the increase in March they wanted to charge us the increased ticket price along with the cost of the hopper option. I was told it was because we had already started to use the pass. We ended up not adding the hopper option since it was going to cost about $100 per person.

It can pay to wait to add until you get there, depending how you tour. I am sharing a package with someone, but I'm getting in two days earlier. If I were to add days before, I would have to add days for both tickets, bringing the total up to about $60 to upgrade. Once you arrive and someone uses a ticket, though, your tickets get disconnected from each other so I can upgrade mine and leave his alone, saving about $30. Don't worry, Disney, I'm sure I'll spend that $30 on something else there lol...

The CM you spoke to was incorrect and ill-trained.
I mean 100% wrong, no question.
You should not have been assessed an extra up-charge for the upgrade of the "tickets bought prior to the increase in March."
Nor should you have been assessed an extra up-charge "because you had already started using the tickets."
No way. Period.

When you encounter an obviously wrong situation like that, nicely decline the offer and ask to speak with a supervisor.
If still no solution, nicely decline the offer and go to another ticket booth or Guest Relations location and find a CM who has been better trained.

When in doubt, please post a question on this board right away.
You should get the correct answer pretty quickly.

I have been told that if you bought your ticket at a cheaper price than is current than you have to upgrade at a ticket window at a park. If your ticket was purchased at the current rate then the hotel desk could do it for you. The hotels can't override the forced price difference but the actual parks can I was told. This is how upgrading worked for us last year. Oh and all magic bands had to be present at the ticket counter.

We were at our hotel when we tried to do this. It was day 2. We were on a package and when I went to the desk they told me the price was over $100 per person since the tickets went up after we paid for our package we had to pay the difference. She checked with her supervisor before telling me the price, but was told that was the price. I didn't think it sounded correct but being there I didn't know what else to do.

So you are saying that you CAN upgrade at the hotel without paying the difference? I was at the Beach Club and multiple cast members tried as they were slow and they all told us it HAD to be done at the parks to not pay the difference. The park ticket counter took care of it no problem and they confirmed to me that the system was flawed in that way and the hotels could not do it properly when there is a price discrepancy.
I would love to be able to do it at the hotel instead of waisting time at the park!

If it's a room only reservation, the resort is very limited on what they can do. If it's a package deal, most of the time they can help you. some resorts might be able to do more, especially if your on club or concierge.

Most of the problems with tickets that I have to fix originate at resorts. You're better off doing anything ticket-related at a Guest Relations location or a park ticket window. We're not perfect but resort CMs don't receive the same training we do about tickets.

That said, resort CMs are supposed to be able to price bridge, but since they use a different system than we do at the parks, it's a more complicated procedure. I've looked it up in documentation and it looks like a pain. That's no excuse, though, it's their job to serve guests and if that's what the guest wants then they should be willing and able to do it.

1. So you are saying that you CAN upgrade at the hotel without paying the difference?

1. What I was replying to was what was said in the post below...
We were at our hotel when we tried to do this. It was day 2. We were on a package and

2. when I went to the desk they told me the price was over $100 per person since the tickets went up after we paid for our package we had to pay the difference. She checked with her supervisor before telling me the price, but was told that was the price.
I didn't think it sounded correct but being there

3. I didn't know what else to do.

2. Which is 100% wrong.

3. THIS is why I replied: For reference to next time, post here, and get an answer ASAP.

That is good to know. It did not occur to me that it would be different at that parks.

Robo, I know this is hard to believe, but some of us don't have anyway to post here for answers while on vacation. LOL
