should i activate my AP voucher before checking in at the CR? just got an AP discount code rate applied to my reservation - was told i must should actual AP at check-in (not voucher) otherwise rate will go back to "rack rate" - should i drop off luggage at CR, walk over to MK & activate AP voucher, then walk back & check-in with actual AP (so as not to lose this discount rate)?

or would i be allowed to check-in first, then return with AP after to show it is activated (and not lose discount rate!)?

help!

I would not worry about this in spite of what you were told.

Many times, the CMs at the front desk do not even ask to see the AP. If they do, just show them the voucher. There have been many, many reports of this being acceptable. In the event it is not, just tell the CM that you will activate it at your first opportunity and return to "prove" you did it. I would be surprised if this was necesary and SHOCKED if you encountered any problem about it.

To sum it up, don't worry - you'll be fine. Activate your voucher ahead of time if it's convenient or if not doing so will make you worry yourself sick. If it were me, I'd just take my voucher along and worry no more.

Best wishes -

We are in the same boat with u suzimar57 we will be checking in at AKL early in the am.
I was wondering if the town car services will stop and let u activate our ap's then take us to the AKL (use this as our grocery store stop)

We're trying to decide how to handle this as well. I think that we will go ahead and activate our passes before we check-in, just for our own peace of mind. (And we'd kick ourselves if we didn't and they gave us grief! Who knows what the CM you encounter that day will say!!) It will be kinda a pain for us because we'll be arriving there after a 15 hour drive and anxious to get to our room... But anyway, I think we'll head over to DTD (closest to POFQ) to activate our passes, then head over to the resort to check-in.

If anyone thinks our plan is a bad idea, please let me know! LOL

thank you all for your replies - what i will do is first go to check-in at the CR, and if they really really need to see an activated AP, i will then just leave my luggage with the bell staff, walk on over to the MK to activate it, return back to CR check-in & show them the activated AP!

Never had a problem at check-in, have never been asked to see AP. I would not worry about this. A voucher is the AP just not activated yet.

If your AP has been activated, then you don't need to show it because "The MOUSE" knows who you are, where you are staying, where you went, when you entered a park, where and what you ate if you charged to you room... Kind of like "Big Brother MOUSE is watching" everything you do.... So when you go to check in the CM can see on the screen that you have an AP....

I stand corrected, the price for NEW APs did go up slightly on March 28th. The renewal price didn't, or at lease I wasn't charged one if there was an increase.::yes:: ::yes::

In the past we have never been asked to show our APs even though we used them to obtain the discount. ::MickeyMo

You can stop in Ocala at the Disney Information Center and exchange your vouchers for actual AP's. It's very convenient. I know...we've done it 3 times. The most recent time was oct 2003. I called ahead and asked if we still could and of course was told by the CM who answered the phone that they no longer would activate them. Well, a few weeks after calling we stopped there on our way down because we had to pick up our MNSSHP tickets anyway. While we were there I thought I'd give it a try and sure enough, easily echanged vouchers for AP's. If you travel I75, stop there because it is very easy access and then there are no worries about when and where to activate.

Good luck and have fun...wish it wasn't so long until we go again.
