Hi! Congratulations and Welcome home. Sorry about this bump in the road.

haha, no worries, technical issues happen, next up is the decision, dining plan or no dining plan :)

Oh noes. I just said to my family what a bad time to do this. I would think Friday is a big day for booking as plans were thought about all during the work week.

In fact I just made my FP+ and Dining reservations for a short notice trip we are doing in 2 weeks.

Looked they've extended the maintenance another 8 hours for me!

It was posted on member website but not the extension. Lots of IT stuff going on @ WDW across the board.

Ok, now we need to know how you fared on your first booking, which I'm sure you will never forget after the suspense.

Make sure to post back where you'll be staying:wizard:

Hope all the issues with DVC Member website are resolved soon. Unfortunately, this won't be the last time! But welcome home! Where and when are you staying? And which resort did you buy at?

Finally booked and sorted, We are doing 2 weeks at the Poly in Jan (our home due to the deal + monorail access).. now to get the spreadsheets out, Dining plan or no dining plan!

Since DVC Members that bought direct get a 10% dining discount at a lot of WDW restaurants, I personally don't see the dining plan as being worth it.

2 weeks on DP @ WDW is a lot of food.

Some of the restuarants have 20% discounts for DVC/APH

There is a rumor that alcohol may be included in DP next year. Info should be out soon one way or the other.

If you get an AP, you get 20% off a lot of TS places right now too. Or you can get the TIW card and save %15. I wouldn't get DP unless doing a split stay and then get deluxe for first part of split.

We aren't doing the AP as the UK gets access to a 2 week ticket for a little bit less which has parkhopper, photopass and some extra goodies..

The maths are very close on the dining plan, we are considering doing the cheapest one and then using some cash to pay for the occasional table service but got a few months to work that out first :) if the dining plan works out to be just a bit more expensive, I think it will be worth it just for the ease.

We did the dining plan for our first on-site stay. It was fun to do it once, but we will never do it again. We did the regular DDP and it was a lot of food!! It was fun to try "the most expensive thing on the menu" and not worry about the bill at the end of the meal. So, if you've never done the DDP, it might be worth it to give it a try once.

We have our first DVC stay in December, and I have been going back and forth on the dining plan for weeks. I worked out the numbers, and it doesn't seem to work well for us. We would have three adults (me, DW and DS). Our son is 11, but has Down syndrome, so he's small and doesn't eat a whole lot (and is a fairly picky, but healthy, eater). The only way it would've worked out is if we always ordered off the adult menu for him AND got him dessert at TS restaurants. He doesn't like dessert, so then I'd end up eating it (and my waist doesn't like that). We are just going to buy discounted gift cards and pay that way. Now I have to run the numbers to see if TIW is worth it. The planning never ends!
