Their stores smell up the mall
We don't have Abercrombie in our mall, but Hollister stinks up our mall.

At least he's not fat, eh FireDancer?Oh the irony.

They start with size 00, so a 10 in A&F is actually closer to a 12 or 14.
What the heck does that mean? I've never heard that term before. To quote my DS who is in college, If it flies it dies when it comes to clothes. It made shopping much easier for him! I just remember not to buy him anything with a A&F or Hollister logo on it!
Oh the irony.
That isn't true. Offering smaller sizes doesn't mean they shift the whole range down - it just means they offer smaller sizes that other brands don't. To use that 00 as an example - that's the same waist measurement as a girls' 7/8 from Gymboree. And IME A&F jeans run small - my DD wears a 00 in most juniors brands, if she can find them, but in A&F she needs a 1. She also wears a medium top from them, and she's still wearing mediums from the girls' department in other brands.
Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and call bovine fecal matter on that one. While not just a clothing company, I would say that Disney is a rather successful company. They don't just target the "cool" kids. They target everybody with their parks, movies, clothing, etc., and I'd say that they do a darn good job of exciting people. This guy seriously made a mistake with his comments. I'm guessing he was trying to drive up business by having kids say, "You know, I'm not cool or popular, but if I shop here, maybe people will think I am." Unfortunately, moms and dads are usually the ones who give money for clothes when it is as expensive as Abercrombie. And I'm betting mom and dad aren't going to like those comments.
As others have said, they have the right to choose not to sell plus sizes just like Lane Bryant has the right to not carry petites, but I don't think that's the part that's upsetting people. It's that this "businessman" (or whatever you want to call him, as he lacks professionalism completely) didn't exactly use the most tactful approach. I consider myself somewhat well versed in fashion so honestly I find his statement laughable, as the "cool kids" for the most part wouldn't be caught dead in AF or Hollister. It's been "out" since I was in college. He really should be thankful if the "uncool" people wear it, or anyone for that matter.

This. All stores have the right to cater to a particular group of people, and there are certainly plenty of others stores that do not sell plus-size clothing. It's the fact that the owner of this store has said that those who aren't able to shop there could not possibly be "cool" or "popular." I honestly don't care in the least what this particular man thinks, but it's a terrible message to send to people- especially the younger ones that his store is trying to attract.
I work at Abercrombie kids and think this is hilarious
Also why I find the clothes very cute and preppy and have no problem with them does anyone really buy their tween daughter bathing suits from your store? Maybe I am just a prude but they are so scandalous and I am not opposed to 2 piece suits for my daughter she wears them all the time but really a padded tiny triangle top for a 12 year old.
