A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Thanks for the Thanksgiving well wishes, I am thankful for all of my new friends here on the DIS. You all keep the disney magic alive and indulge my obsession. I know that here I will never have to justify why I love WDW so much.

Pooh'smate *You are the best! I can't thank you enough for finding the recipe. I have missed this for many years. I can't wait to show my DMom, she had no clue what I was talking about. Who needs my meanie MIL when I have nice DISers like you. I also adore red velvet cake, but I found the recipe already. Happy baking for me. :cloud9:

dancin princess *I do use all of my plates, they are just melamine. I just pulled out my "Thanksgiving" ones with pumpkins, leaves and fruit on them. I find alot of them when I travel to the U.S. (Target and Dollar Tree) My Disney ones are from our Disney Store. My DMom says I will soon run out of space to store them but I can't pass them up. Its a true addiction. :confused3 Now that I have bored all of you....;)

I wish Drew could gain his hearing again, and be pain free. Does he talk about wanting to ride again? I will pray for him to try a less scary sport. :wizard:

Glad to hear your family is home safe. Can't wait to read Jill's TR.

I love DTD also. I will plan a whole day there next year. I've never tried Earl of Sandwich or Goofy's Candy Co. Yummo!

MeMom,

I love seeing all your shopping pictures. I don't think I have even been inside most of the shops in Disney World. I wish I would be able to shop this time, but with a six year old son, I would spend most of my time trying to keep him from breaking stuff.

Have you figured out a way to make your trips seem longer yet? I already dread the end of my trip and we still have two months before we leave. I wish that a week at Disney would seem as long as a week at work.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving well wishes, I am thankful for all of my new friends here on the DIS. You all keep the disney magic alive and indulge my obsession. I know that here I will never have to justify why I love WDW so much.

You will NEVER have to justify that here!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: There is definately some mega Disney Love flowing over here:love: . The people who I worry about are the ones who just don't understand the magic. Buncha weirdos if you ask me!!!;) glad your Thanksgiving was a success. We still have about 5 weeks before our Thanksgiving!!

MeMom,
I checked out your post and it's nice to know I'm not the only one trying to find the Disney magic everywhere around me. One morning I was drinking a cup of coffee in my kitchen and saw a hidden Mickey in my cup. The light bulbs from the ceiling fan were reflecting in the coffee and were in the perfect hidden Mickey shape. Made my Saturday morning that much happier!

I'm off work for Columbus Day today and need to get back to cleaning the house. I'll put on some Disney music and that will make it more fun, right? Better than being at work!

Where was the poster from the Crystal Palace? Was that at Art of Disney?

:rotfl: about Planning Time Voodoo!

Yeah, somewhere in Art of Disney. You could really spend a bunch of money in that place, if you had enough wall space.

oh.......art if disney pics......my favorite! i love seeing pictures from here because i always miss some that i love. those pics of the princesses on the carousel are so pretty! and my favorite precious moments i think is the one of the little girl eating spaghetti with the tramp. so cute!

oh, i want this one next!!!! they didn't have it at the watch store at MK (where i usually get these). where was this at? i definitely want it next! i got the wendy, john & michael flying one to complete my peter pan collection and then i also got a small sorceror mickey this last trip.

I think the one with Baloo is cute, too.

I guess Jiminy Cricket was just at Art of Disney, too. I knew you had a bunch of those. Where do you have them displayed?

DH and DD got me the Belle Precious Moments for Mother's Day. It was so cute, Hannah was about to burst because she wanted to tell me what it was!
The apron is neat!

I bet that was so sweet. I can't imagine Brooklynn trying to keep a secret when she gets a little older.

I love shopping at DTD!!! I could spend ALL day there! There is SO much to see. Thank you for bringing to me!!!

I agree. You could spend so much time in every shop. We do that in two or three stores, and then we have to rush through the others so we can get off to a park or meal. You really could spend just about all day in DTD if you wanted to go through every shop carefully and eat, along with maybe letting the little ones do the carousel, play with Legos, run around in the water jets, etc.

oh my goodness there is a post office in DTD?? How did I NEVER notice that before, where is it? So neat!

Where was this in DTD? We looked for stamps while we were there so we could mail postcards and could not find them. Great pics and updates Memom!

~Abby

There's just a counter where Art of Disney and World of Memories connect, best I remember.

I always buy pens as souvenirs too. For myself and for other people. Not only because they are practical, but also because they are usually inexpensive!!!

They are inexpensive and practical, and if you can get that in Disney World, that's a good combination. I always have one with me when I'm at a faculty meeting. And, yep, they are good souvenirs for friends, too!

MeMom, your countdown started today!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :dance3:

It has, but I've been so bogged down with life stresses over the past week that I've been a little down, and I haven't really been able to focus on the trip. I'll have to go check our ticker, but I'm thinking that it is six weeks from today that I leave after to school to go to AL. We're spending the night in Perry, GA, getting up early, and arriving at All-Star Music around 11:00. Thinking about pulling up to the resort all dressed up for Christmas does make me happy, and I need some happy right now.

I need to go to DTD early, like you did, because when we went, it was late-ish and there were no nighttime EMH so I guess everyone had the idea of going to DTD. It was soooo crowded!

I love the pictures of the Precious Moments figurines, too. My mom used to collect those so she's the first person I think of when I see them.

So glad that Jill had a safe trip home and Brooklynn kept herself entertained. I can just imagine her showing Ariel the sights. Too cute!

DTD can get very crowded. That's why I wanted to go early and try to get some pictures without people.

I can picture Brooklynn showing Ariel what was happening outside the plane window, too. I'm sure she was having quite the conversation. I talked to her this morning as she was going to school. She was looking forward to playing with her friends again.

I LOVE how you always buy pens!!!! Ever since I was a VERY small child, and my Mom would vouch for this, every time we went to WDW I ALWAYS was fascinated and drawn in by the pen displays. It was always one of the first things I bought with my souvenir money---and this is still true to today!!! My sister laughed at me this year when we had that night at DHS where we got to shop just the two of us---I spent almost 20 minutes at one store just looking AT ALL THE PENS!!!! I think it is something in teachers' DNA!!!! We just LOVE pens---especially Disney ones!!!!

Disney pens are the only ones that can help us escape while we're in a very important (boring) meeting.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving well wishes, I am thankful for all of my new friends here on the DIS. You all keep the disney magic alive and indulge my obsession. I know that here I will never have to justify why I love WDW so much.

Yummo!

Red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting....oh yeah! Good stuff!

Your Disney obsession is safe with us.

Drew will definitely ride again. That is his obsession. He's out in the backyard right now doing a one-armed sanding job on some bike part. He's chomping at the bit to ride, but that's going to be a while yet.

He says when he yawns he can hear for a second, so I am hoping that's a good sign. Maybe something is just laying over on something inside there and it can be lifted up with surgery to where he can at least hear a little better.

You can't go wrong at Earl of Sandwich. The bread is so good!

It is easier to shop without little ones. Maybe there can be a time when someone else can be with him to play in the water jets or at the Lego Store, and then you can go into some of the shops that have breakables.

You will NEVER have to justify that here!!!:rotfl2: :lmao: There is definately some mega Disney Love flowing over here:love: . The people who I worry about are the ones who just don't understand the magic. Buncha weirdos if you ask me!!!;) glad your Thanksgiving was a success. We still have about 5 weeks before our Thanksgiving!!

I'm sorry that they don't get it, but I'm sort of glad, too, in a way. Just imagine how ridiculously crowded it would be if everyone wanted to be there as much as we do. I won't take up space at their car races or boat shows or whatever their things are, and they can stay out of my lines at Disney World!

**********************************

So now I am on my way to the Contemporary. The plan is to take a couple of pictures, then walk over to Magic Kingdom to meet Jill, John, and Brooklynn at the boat that's going to Fort Wilderness.

This is from the bus.

IMG_2071.jpg

At the Contemporary, the palm trees were tied up like this.

IMG_2072.jpg

IMG_2073.jpg

I guessed it had something to do just landscaping-wise, like training the trees to grow a certain way, but John said it was probably just to get them out of the way of trucks and stuff that were working on this.

IMG_2076.jpg

He was probably right. That does make sense.

I didn't really find anything too exciting to photograph at CR, so I walked on over to Magic Kingdom. I saw my people getting off the bus as I walked, so the timing was good.

We got on the boat to Fort Wilderness.

IMG_2084.jpg

It was a pretty day.

Brooklynn waved to other boats.

IMG_2087.jpg

Do you know what this is?

IMG_2089.jpg

We were directly under the monorail when I snapped these.

IMG_2090.jpg

And, here we are.

IMG_2093.jpg

Inside the general store.

IMG_2094.jpg

IMG_2095.jpg

Fourth of July stuff.

IMG_2096.jpg

A twenty-five cent massage sounds good after a day of walking around in a park.

IMG_2100.jpg

Next, we spent some time here.

IMG_2102.jpg

Looking ahead: Disney horses and lunch at Trail's End.

It has, but I've been so bogged down with life stresses over the past week that I've been a little down, and I haven't really been able to focus on the trip.

I hope things will start looking up soon!

He says when he yawns he can hear for a second, so I am hoping that's a good sign. Maybe something is just laying over on something inside there and it can be lifted up with surgery to where he can at least hear a little better.

It seems like a good thing that Drew can hear when he yawns! But I don't know anything about hearing/inner ear issues. I pray he gets some of his hearing back.

IMG_2095.jpg

I think I need this shirt!

It's hard to believe that a charmingly rustic spot like Fort Wilderness is right smack dab in the middle of Disney -- that's what I love about Disney magic! :goodvibes

I guess Jiminy Cricket was just at Art of Disney, too. I knew you had a bunch of those. Where do you have them displayed?

i have the peter pan ones on top of a bookshelf in my dining room. the mickey one i have on one of the middle shelves with some other disney pictures.

i'm so excited to see the FW pictures! i did some reading up on it yesterday and i think we'd love it. we'll have to rent a golf cart though because we plan on taking the doggies and you have to get around on either a golf cart, a bike or the buses. a bike won't work with them and i'm pretty sure doggies aren't allowed on the buses. they are allowed on golf carts so that's what we'll do. anyway, they will stay in the kennels at the parks while we're there but then stay with us in the camper when we come back. listen to me - i'm already planning trips like 3 years down the road!!!! :rotfl:

I thought the smock was interesting.

IMG_2068.jpg

I asked permission to take the picture, and he obliged.

very interesting indeed, you are polite yourself.

dancin princess *I do use all of my plates, they are just melamine. I just pulled out my "Thanksgiving" ones with pumpkins, leaves and fruit on them. thats cool. i would love to eat off of disney plates everyday but i dont think my BF would like that very much.

MeMom, do you guys ever go to the waterparks (i dont remember seein pics) or are you waiting for brooklynn to be older.
yay, its my 600th post...go me!

I love all your Downtown Disney pictures!
They are making me want to go back and shop more now. :rotfl:

I ended up taking pictures of things I liked too.
Since I couldn't buy everything.

Your lego comments about the Dino eating the Eiffel tower and the poor crab made me laugh out loud.

Sorry Jill's trip is over.

You all will be back VERY soon.

We went to visit my in laws this weekend and they will be in Disney in Nov too! They fly down Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, and are staying for a week. They are going with 5 other couples! One couple are frequent visitors and are doing all the planning. So we got to talk a little Disney over the weekend.

The people who I worry about are the ones who just don't understand the magic. Buncha weirdos if you ask me!!!;)

Hee Hee, I find this so funny :lmao: :lmao: That's why we hang out here with other like-minded individuals. I'm not racist, sexist or homophobic but I just don't get those non-Disney freaks!! (What's sad is I am married to one of them, should have found that out sooner I guess . In the words of my mother 5 minutes after the wedding "It's too late now". But I digress)

That's why most of us would proudly wear this t-shirt:

Too funny!

I can't wait to see more Ft Wilderness pics. I haven't seen that many nor have I read any TR where people have stayed there.

Happy Tuesday MeMom!!!! I loved the pictures from FW so far---especially the boat ride over there--fun!

I have to comment on John's shirt though---it is a Bluegrass Games shirt---being from Northern KY, I spotted it right away since I spent my childhood playing at the Bluegrass games---how did he get it? Does he have a tie into KY too? Just wondering! Have a good day, Jen

I do, too. Nothing is horrible, there's just a lot going on. School is getting more ridiculous by the minute. Every time we turn around, they are throwing another program on us. They think this program or that program is going to be the next big idea to 'save' our kids. None of them have worked so far, so they just keep piling them on.

I hope that is a good sign that some hearing can be restored. We will hopefully know in a couple of weeks.

It's hard to believe that a charmingly rustic spot like Fort Wilderness is right smack dab in the middle of Disney -- that's what I love about Disney magic! :goodvibes

I'd like to stay in one of the cabins sometime, but that one bathroom thing keeps me from trying that. It would be okay for one of our girl trips, but we don't really need that much space with just us. It would be nice when there are more of us, but then we'd want two bathrooms. So, I'm not sure we'll ever end up doing that, even though I would very much like to.

If you ever are there at Christmas, go over to see how people decorate their campers. They go all out!

i have the peter pan ones on top of a bookshelf in my dining room. the mickey one i have on one of the middle shelves with some other disney pictures.

That would be fun to take Eli and Sherman and Little Ray or Little Dawn camping! Chris, Anna, and Luke could get a camper and put it next to yours, and all of you could grill out and eat out on the picnic table. I think that would be a lot of fun!

very interesting indeed, you are polite yourself.

thats cool. i would love to eat off of disney plates everyday but i dont think my BF would like that very much.

MeMom, do you guys ever go to the waterparks (i dont remember seein pics) or are you waiting for brooklynn to be older.
yay, its my 600th post...go me!

Our guys don't care what they are eating off of, as long as the food is good and there's plenty of it!

I haven't been to a waterpark, but the boys have. They like Typhoon Lagoon a bit better than Blizzard Beach.

I love all your Downtown Disney pictures!

Tell them if they want to meet some of your Dis buddies, they can come over to Epcot on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I think we're going to meet over in the UK, since it's usually not crowded over there. We're just meeting for a quick hello - no one is obligated to give up any time. We're just going to put names with faces and probably get a picture.

I enjoy looking at the shop pictures, too. It helps me know whether I did the right thing by passing something up or whether I want something bad enough to go try to find it again on the next trip.

Hee Hee, I find this so funny :lmao: :lmao: That's why we hang out here with other like-minded individuals. I'm not racist, sexist or homophobic but I just don't get those non-Disney freaks!! As long as he gives in to you for a trip every once in a while, I guess you can forgive him. I know he has fun with those kids when he does go, though!

I can't wait to see more Ft Wilderness pics. I haven't seen that many nor have I read any TR where people have stayed there.

I'll probably put the rest up Friday night. Watching the guy shoe the horse was interesting.

It was a long Tuesday. Parent conferences went well, although I had some no-shows. I hope they can make it up. I spend too much time with their kids for them not to come and know who I am and know what we do in our classroom every day.

John is from Benton. He wears a lot of KY shirts, especially soccer ones.

Just poppin' in to say Hi! Hope all is well in your home. :flower3:

Very, very, very busy and a bit stressful. We all have times like that, and this is one of ours.

Oh, :guilty: hugs for you. I hope things start to lighten up for you. I'll be sure to say a prayer for you tonight.

This shirt is hilarious!!!!!

We all have to have our times of hardship to appreciate when things are going well, and this is our time of learning to appreciate and realizing what is really important and real in our lives. I'm sure it will ease up soon.

I was glad to see the Chip and Dale shirt, too. They are a little more difficult to find than Mickey and his inner circle.

I hope everyone has a good Wednesday. We have to do conferences again tomorrow night, so we're hoping for mercy so as not to have a faculty meeting today. We'll see.

I hope that thing start to ease up for you soon.

I had to pop in and tell you about this. Today at work, one of my girls (who I have had many, many Disney conversations with) came running up to me to tell me that she's going there for a week in February, and staying at WL! She said that it's her Christmas/birthday present, and it was supposed to be a surprise, but her Spanish teacher called her house to tell her parents that she was failing the class, and her dad got mad and said, "I swear, if you don't start passing Spanish, we are NOT going to Disney World!," and all she had to say was, "What? we're going to Disney World?!" :rotfl: There's some incentive to start doing well!

That's definitely good incentive to make a better grade in anything! I'm glad she's excited about staying at Wilderness Lodge. I would be, too!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch....

Information about the horses.

IMG_2104.jpg

Brooklynn was not old enough to go on the pony ride, but the lady was very nice and let her sit on one for pictures.

IMG_2108.jpg

She didn't get upset about not riding. We'll try it again next summer. I doubt we'll have time for it on our short Thanksgiving trip.

We walked around looking at the other horses.

IMG_2111.jpg

Then we went to the stables.

IMG_2114.jpg

This guy was being brushed.

IMG_2115.jpg

Each stall has the name of the horse and what he/she eats.

IMG_2118.jpg

IMG_2119.jpg

We were told that one horse was going to be shoed, so we went over to watch that.

This is where the blacksmith works.

IMG_2137.jpg

IMG_2146.jpg

We'll have to try this someday.

IMG_2149.jpg

On this day, we were going for the first time to Trail's End.

IMG_2150.jpg

We were waited on right away. Brooklynn colored while her plate was being fixed.

IMG_2152.jpg

The food was very good - just good old country food.

IMG_2154.jpg

As I understand it, they are now just doing more of a soup and sandwich lunch there now. I think they have fried chicken, too, but not the whole line of stuff they had when we were there.

Here's what they had when we were there.

IMG_2163.jpg

It was a nice meal. Even though there were zillions of people right across the lake, this was a very nice meal in a peaceful, uncrowded place.

Awww, Brooklyn looks so cute on the little horsey!!!!!

Brooklynn was not old enough to go on the pony ride, but the lady was very nice and let her sit on one for pictures.

IMG_2108.jpg

this is so awesome! she looks really happy too. some kids would freak out.

i had a pony when i was little. his name was sugar. my grandpa bought him for me and kept him on his farm in bethpage. he died because he ate some poisonous berries. :sad1:

ray also had a pony that his grandfather gave him. can you say spoiled??? :rotfl:

This guy was being brushed.

IMG_2115.jpg

erica and i saw some horses that were pulling a carriage when we were leaving hoop-dee-doo and it made me sad because they looked sad. but then i told myself that it's disney - they're probably VERY well taken care of. i'm glad to see pics of people loving on them!

pretty cool that you guys saw a horse being "shoed." i always wondered if it hurt them but i guess not - it's like a fingernail i guess.
