A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

I hate getting that envelope too. Aren't they going back with you in a couple of months? If they are at least they have something to look forward to. Still it's so sad!:sad1:

Cool measuring spoons! I would love to have my kitchen done with all the Mickey stuff...I do have one Disney touch in my kitchen. We got the canister set on our honeymoon.

I think the Mickey rain gauge is cute too! I love shopping this way! :thumbsup2

Morning MeMom, I have the day off! It was busy this week with people getting ready for Thanksgiving. Thats the nature of retail.
I love the DTD pics, you find the coolest things to capture. I never noticed the Lego pictures. I think the reflection of the dragon is neat. The crab pic made me laugh. Which store has the plates? Do you remember the price? I collect different plates, I must have about 20 sets now. I have all the holidays, a few Disney and alot of tropical ones. My DMom jokes about it all the time. DD will have to get the Mac and Cheese. I want the Mickey knome for my DMom.
I will take a tip from you and slow down the next trip and notice the details. (I have to admit I was kindove a comando before). In my defense we did go on "everything" we wanted. :lmao: Next year I want to go for longer so I have time to take it all in.
I think I will book in early Dec. so Lexi (DD) can get the Christmas day phone call from Mickey. I reluctantly decided to go in August and hopefully we will get the free dining. You know I wanted to go for the EF&GF in May. Next time. DMom reminded me we HAVE to fix the roof next year, so if I want to go to Disney I'll need to save as much $$$ as I can. I still get to go!!! :woohoo: I can't wait to see pics of Jill and Brooklynns trip. So sad she woke up to the bad envelope this morning. You should tell her she is lucky, when I wake up my last day I get the letter and a 26hr drive ahead of me. :rotfl: It would be great to hop on a plane and be home in 3-4 hrs. I'm so glad they had a magical time. :wizard:
I'm changing my closet over from summer to winter today, so I'll check in later. I think I've put it off long enough. :rotfl2:

I was there as they were opening World of Disney. There was a small opening ceremony, with a little girl and a little boy participating. I believe they got a certificate, too.

i didn't know they did an opening ceremony there! cool. you learn something new every day!

i'm sad for jill that she's leaving today. but tell her to look at it this way: next time she goes it will be EVEN BETTER because it will all be decorated for christmas!!!! :santa:

Yes, we are going again at Thanksgiving. We'll be there Tuesday through Sunday of that week. I'll start an official countdown tomorrow. I wanted to let Jill get through this trip before I started talking about the next one.

I like the kitchen stuff, too. My kitchen doesn't have any of the Mickey red and black parts or the light blue set out in view (just in the utensils drawer), but it does have a Wilderness Lodge theme.

I like taking pictures of things in the shops, because then I can look at them at home and make more logical decisions about my purchases. If I look at a picture between trips and just really, really still want it, then I can get it on the next trip. Most often, I find I can be happy with just looking at the pictures and realizing I can live without it.

I hope all of your Thanksgiving stuff turned/turns out well. It is fun to have get-togethers. You should share a picture of your gang and your food!

I used to have Christmas dishes, but I sold them in a yard sale. When I was bringing up three kids while going to school full-time and working part-time, we sold about everything in the house at yard sales. Now I just buy decorative paper plates at Christmas, and they do the job, since we don't really do fancy around here. I have seen some cool Disney Christmas dishes that I think would be nice to have, but I doubt I will ever buy them.

You would very much enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival, and they have the Mickey gnomes there on all kinds of things. I don't know if you read about out March trip, but there are some F&G Festival pictures on that TR that you might enjoy. They had some really cute stuff for sale for gardeners.

I didn't know it either. I just happened upon it. It was just a small deal with a handful of us there, but I'm sure it was cool for the kids. I didn't talk to them, so I don't know if those families knew to get there to open the store or if they just stumbled upon the opportunity. Now that we do know about it, I imagine we'll have to give it a try on purpose sometime.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to seeing all the Christmas stuff. I'll be taking a ton of pictures. The only bad thing will be that everything is scheduled to officially start on the day after Thanksgiving, which means we would have to try to get in Osborne Lights, Candlelight Processional, and Jingle Jungle Parade all in on Friday and Saturday. Last year, Osborne Lights were already on earlier in November, but this year they're not scheduled to come on until Friday. I'm hoping for a preview on Thanksgiving night! We'll be asking around if there's any chance for that when we get there.

I love all your pictures. It makes me even more excited to get there. I am really looking forward to your Christmas pictures. We doing the Candlelight Processional while there. I am so excited Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Can you tell I am excited?

Okay I kindove got side tracked on the DIS so I havn't actually got started on my closet. :rotfl2: I will look at your previous trip for pics of the Flower and Garden Festival. My DMom is an avid gardener. I know she wants to go in May also but she is far more practical than me. I must save $$$, that is my new mantra. :rotfl: I took a peek at your other TR and Brooklynn looks so cute and young. I will read it later. The food pic wouldn't be that interesting, just me, mom and the kids and a turkey. And pumpkin pie. Aaron(DS) likes pecan pie, the southern boy in him. You would be shocked to know I paid $7.00 for a cup and a half of pecans. I miss Auburn, my MIL has pecan trees in her yard.
MeMom are you a baker? Have you heard of Friendship bread? It takes days to make. I think each friend makes a part. My MIL won't give up the recipe, do you know it?

Disney does Christmas right, too, so it will be great! There's plenty to be excited about!

JILL UPDATE - The 'last meal' is being consumed at Pop right now. Jill is having pizza. I don't know what the others are having. Brooklynn was wiping off their table as we spoke.

Brooklynn told me about seeing Ariel this morning. Jill said they had a really good Ariel, too. Of course, the fact that Brooklynn was wearing an Ariel t-shirt and had Ariel sunglasses and an Ariel necklace may have encouraged her to be extra attentive to one of her biggest fans. Jill said Brooklynn was talking about Awull in line, but when she got up to her, she went mute and just stared at her the whole time!

They also saw Peter Pan and Captain Hook today, so she loved that, too.

Jill said she could not get in touch with the person she was supposed to pass her refrigerator on to, so she called the head of the swap. They said that person was supposed to have contacted her to tell her they had changed locations and would not be staying at Pop. Jill said she guessed she'd just be leaving the fridge at luggage services with all the information she did have and hoping for the best for the next swappers.

Pecan is Drew's favorite pie, too!

I used to bake a lot, but with school so demanding these days, I really don't like to come home and make much of a mess on weekends. I bake some during the holidays, but still not anything like I used to. I have not made Friendship Bread, but some ladies at church have.

It looks like pooh'smate helped you out already, so that's good!

CanadianWDWFan, You will need a starter to make your friendship bread. You can find a recipe for it here http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Amish-Friendship-Bread-Starter/Detail.aspx. I have used this one and it is very good. Hope this helps. By the way Happy Thanksgiving. We are celebrating tomorrow. My dh is from Montreal so we celebrate both. Enjoy the bread.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you guys in Canada who are celebrating. It seems so different to be saying that in October. Here it's a holiday a month from October to December - Halloween, Thanksgiving, then Christmas.

Of course, the stores get a liitle mixed up, as you can be in one aisle getting Halloween candy, but two aisles over there are Christmas trees twinkling. Somewhere smushed in between are two shelves of autumn/Thanksgiving tablecloths and a few decorations.

JILL UPDATE - I am sad to say that the last call I got from her was from MCO. The trip is really over. :sad1: She said it did make it much better knowing they would be back in November. The Magical Express bus had been a little late, but they did get there in plenty of time, and since the flight had been delayed for about 40 minutes, I think she said, they had plenty of time just to hang out and wait. Brooklynn was laughing hysterically at some song she was singing while I was talking to Jill. Hopefully, she will sleep on the plane.

From all of us up here, Thanks!

My boys are away in Halifax on a Dad and Pook only trip. I am enjoying my two quiet days alone. (and I haven't done a bit of school work yet) Next week is a short week for students, Thanksgiving holiday Monday and teacher meetings on Tuesday.

How is Drew btw?

Can't wait to see Jill's new pics!

Enjoy that alone time. I hope the guys are having a nice time. What kind of special things are they doing?

Drew is better, but not great. His head has quit hurting. We'll get the staples out Monday. His shoulder has a big bad place on it where the bone just juts out, and it gives him sharp pains if he moves it wrong. He wants it out of the sling, but he needs to keep it in there. He keeps asking about his hearing, thinking it is going to come back. I have tried to explain he has lost his hearing in that ear. They said they might be able to make some repair with surgery down the road.

JILL UPDATE - She just called from back in Orlando. The plane had to turn around and go back because of what they think is a computer glitch. They said they are hoping for it to only take twenty minutes, and then they'll be moving again. She said Brooklynn had already fallen asleep and the pregnant lady had been to the bathroom, so they were good for the flight to just ease on in to Birmingham. She is really hoping Brooklynn will fall back asleep as soon as they get on again. It is so much easier when she is sleeping - no trying to entertain her and she doesn't have to deal with the ears popping and all. I hope it's not a miserable ride home now with her being cranky and tired but not able to go back to sleep. She said she'd call when they got to Alabama.

I think Charleston Princess was the original author (see below), but what we really need to know is if you wore a special outfit while performing said juju.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, i was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO confused :confused3

Do u use them or just collect them?

Brooklynn was keeping herself entertained

I pray they have a safe flight home.

MeMom, this is completly OT but you teach 3rd grade right? i just found out that a friend i went to high school and danced with just became a 4th grade teacher. I'm so proud of her. (just wanted to share that i now know another teacher0

Glad you were able to laugh about your spill at MGM/DHS. I just recently had a fall like that. I was sitting here at our desk reading the DIS, when my husband asked me to come in the other room. Well, I had my feet propped up and when I tried to sit up, I fell back instead. Kinda slow motion. I just couldn't stop myself. I hit my elbow (made a big bruise), but other than that it didn't hurt. He and I sure had a good laugh, though. :rotfl2: You sure have to be careful when spending hours on the DIS. Your reaction speed is not as good!

Hi memom! Just checking in and trying to catch up! I love all of the green updates on Jill's trip....hope the plane thing worked out with Brooklyn and getting back to sleep. On her first trip to Disney, Devon cried the entire trip home :sad2: until the last 10 minutes of the flight....I was a wreck trying to console her and keep her quiet.
I can't believe I missed the fall and post-fall pics. I hope you are ok now! That is sooooo something I would have done too! ;) I really love :lovestruc all of your pics and shopping pics too. I really want that one Mickey/Minnie purse. I will have to look for that when I go in Feb.

Hope Drew is doing better! I need to go back and finish catching up. For some reason, when I click on "view first unread" on your trippie, it takes me to the last page and I have to read backwards. Just want to let you know I am reading and following along still! :thumbsup2
