A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Welcome back, Jill. I can't wait to hear all about it.

They are back safe and sound. She doesn't get to a computer often, but says she'll put up pictures and videos at her first opportunity.

Tell Drew we are still praying for him.

Thanks. He is bothered by the hearing loss. I hope some of that will be able to be restored with future surgery, but the doctor that talked to us about that was the least encouraging of all the ones we saw.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, i was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO confused :confused3

Brooklynn was keeping herself entertained

I pray they have a safe flight home.

MeMom, this is completly OT but you teach 3rd grade right? i just found out that a friend i went to high school and danced with just became a 4th grade teacher. I'm so proud of her. (just wanted to share that i now know another teacher0

Apparently she was being quite funny to herself at the moment, too. They did make it home just fine after the short delay.

Yes, I teach third-grade. I would like to move down to avoid the TCAP pressure, but the principals seem to like us just where we are.

Glad you were able to laugh about your spill at MGM/DHS. I just recently had a fall like that. I was sitting here at our desk reading the DIS, when my husband asked me to come in the other room. Well, I had my feet propped up and when I tried to sit up, I fell back instead. Kinda slow motion. I just couldn't stop myself. I hit my elbow (made a big bruise), but other than that it didn't hurt. He and I sure had a good laugh, though. :rotfl2: You sure have to be careful when spending hours on the DIS. Your reaction speed is not as good!

Seems like a bunch of us have fallen, huh? Hopefully we don't make a habit of it. I went 51 years without falling on my face, so I guess that's not too bad!

I hope the rest of Jill's journey home is uneventful, and Drew continues to improve!

They made it home, and she said even though Brooklynn did not fall asleep the second time, she did fine and entertained herself. She said she just held her Ariel doll up to the window and showed her the sights and played with her toys, so that's good. I was worried, figuring she might be very cranky and yet not go to sleep, which would be stressful for Jill and everyone around her.

I very much hope Drew continues to improve, too. I hope he can get some hearing back in time. I don't know about the shoulder yet, as we have to go to the ortho guys a little later on.

Sorry Dancin Princess. I got confused on who issued the "ju-ju" dance.:rotfl2:

All clear now. We know exactly who amongst us was doing voodoo dancing on her planning time!

Hi memom! Just checking in and trying to catch up! I love all of the green updates on Jill's trip....hope the plane thing worked out with Brooklyn and getting back to sleep. On her first trip to Disney, Devon cried the entire trip home :sad2: until the last 10 minutes of the flight....I was a wreck trying to console her and keep her quiet.
I can't believe I missed the fall and post-fall pics. I hope you are ok now! That is sooooo something I would have done too! ;) I really love :lovestruc all of your pics and shopping pics too. I really want that one Mickey/Minnie purse. I will have to look for that when I go in Feb.

Hope Drew is doing better! I need to go back and finish catching up. For some reason, when I click on "view first unread" on your trippie, it takes me to the last page and I have to read backwards. Just want to let you know I am reading and following along still! :thumbsup2

Yep, she did okay, thank heavens. In the summer, the trip home was not as good. She was tired but wouldn't give it up, and Jill was doing the best she could to console her. It took a while, but she did finally get to sleep, and everyone around her was grateful. You know they can't help it, and people try to be understanding, of course, but you also just wish they would give it up and go to sleep.

I think the plane turning back is a sign that they're supposed to stay at Disney World!

Like a true Diser, she said if she had known they wouldn't be leaving until late and then not leaving MCO until later, she could have had a couple more hours in the parks!

Must be something in the air in Orlando, it seems like we saw someone fall everywhere we went on our Sept. trip!! Luckily I avoided that mishap!

[/QUOTE]
I hadn't thought of that! Maybe I should go back and try again.

:thumbsup2

It's good to know your husband is doing well. Is he somewhere where you can e-mail regularly? E-mail is a wonderful thing!

It sure is! Yes. He is living in the new U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and he has internet access in his room. We have webcams so we can even see each other while we chat! That does help!

Wonderful DTD pictures MeMom! Would you believe I have never been there? We just couldn't fit it in on our last trip and I'm a shopping addict so that pained me greatly. ;) Next time for sure!

There are so many cool details in WDW. Rides and attractions aside, I could spend days doing nothing but taking pictures.

That's what I love about your pictures - I've been to WDW so many times but you always find things I never noticed before!

We have a squirrel who uses a branch in the tree outside our kitchen window as a hammock. He gets on the roof, and it drives the cat nuts to hear him scampering around. He feasts on pears that have fallen off the two trees out back. I do not want him setting up camp in my attic, though, and then inviting all his friends to visit. We had a family at church who had a huge fire at their house due to bad wiring caused by squirrel damage.

Squirrels can be scary - my good friend came home one day last spring to find two squirrels wrecking havoc in his apartment! They knocked over all his things and had chewed a hole from the roof to his closet (that is how they got in). He actually called the cops and they came and helped him chase the squirrels out  But the just went back up to the roof and came back in! He had a heck of a time getting his landlord to do anything about it.

I thought these plates were cute, and I wanted to buy a few for some of our parties, but I couldn't justify the money.

IMG_2043.jpg

I thought the same thing when I saw those plates, and pretty much all the kitchenware at DTD! I want it all....but just can't justify replacing my perfectly good, but boring cookware with some new pixie dusted items :wizard:

i see that you're going to be updating with fort wilderness pics soon......i can't wait! erica and i were there last month but we were in such a rush we really didn't get to see very much. ray and i have a 3rd car (a volkswagon cabrio convertible we kept for fun) but we're thinking of selling it because we never use it and getting a pop-up camper instead. my CR-V can pull a pop-up. so if that happens we will definitely be staying at FW in the future!

I love the reflections in the DTD pictures. I'm glad you pointed that out because I probably wouldn't have noticed. We went to a fall festival at a park here at home this weekend and they had a dragon in the water just like the Lego one - except it wasn't made of legos. It was lights, kind of like the EWP. So not exactly just like it, I guess. There's also a little biergarten area. And there's a tram ride through the wildlife area. All we could see that night were deer and elk because it was dark. There were also employees dressed up in costumes so I told the girls we needed to go get the character's autographs. They think I'm weird. I did a good job of trying to pretend that I was at WDW. We rode the safari at AK, we watched the EWP, ran to DTD to see the lego dragon, and then ran over to Epcot and had a drink at the Germany pavilion while listening to the chicken dance song. We covered a lot of ground in those couple hours, didn't we? Just wasn't quite the same. Oh, well, I tried.

Sounds like Jill, John and Brooklyn had a wonderful trip. Besides the service at San Angel Inn, which we can totally relate to. Looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing the pictures.

And speaking of squirrels - weren't we just speaking of squirrels? - we had one come in the window of the courtroom I was working in back a few years ago. The judge I worked for totally freaked out and ran out of the courtroom. She didn't like rodents or insects. Luckily we weren't in the middle of a trial - just doing a couple sentencings so there wasn't a jury or very many people in the room at that time.

By the way, hi Punkin! I read that you're a court reporter. Me too.

Looking forward to the Ft. Wilderness update. We haven't checked that out yet on our trips. Maybe next time. There's just too much to do.

Okay, I'll go with that. There was something in the air...I am not just clumsy! Thanks for the help on that one!

It sure is! Yes. He is living in the new U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and he has internet access in his room. We have webcams so we can even see each other while we chat! That does help!

A webcam is even better. I am so glad you have that!

I don't have to tell you that I am, too! There's a lot to do in DTD, so put plenty of time in your schedule for store browsing, Lego playing, picture taking, fountain hopping, and sandwich eating - at Earl's, of course. You won't regret it.

No squirrels have made it into the house, and I hope they never do. As for other wildlife in this neighborhood, we have plenty of rabbits and birds. I have seen deer a couple of times right in the middle of the houses, there are skunks a little way down the road, and a turtle was crossing the street when I came home from church this morning. One afternoon several months ago a duck was in our yard. I guess he had flown over here from one of the lakes, but this is just a neighborhood, so he was definitely out of his place. We called the city wildlife people to come and get him.

I agree about the kitchen stuff. I'm tempted to break an item or two so I'll have an excuse to buy a replacement that has a Mickey handle, but I probably won't.

There are also some Ft. Wilderness pictures from our December trip over on Baby and the Tramp. I think they're on the pages in the mid 60's. They've got the decorated campers, too, which are kind of fun. Just thought I'd refer you to that old post, in case you hadn't seen those from way back. (I think you probably have, though.)

its quite ok. :thumbsup2

Such polite young people we have around here.

For more weirdness, go back and look at Post #145 of Baby and the Tramp. Your kids may feel better about you after they see that!

One of TCKK's girls shot this picture, also, but it was better - not nearly as blurry as this one.

My shopping time was over. I wanted to go over to the Contemporary before meeting the rest of the crew to go to Ft. Wilderness.

oh.......art if disney pics......my favorite! i love seeing pictures from here because i always miss some that i love. those pics of the princesses on the carousel are so pretty! and my favorite precious moments i think is the one of the little girl eating spaghetti with the tramp. so cute!

I love shopping at DTD!!! I could spend ALL day there! There is SO much to see. Thank you for bringing to me!!!

oh my goodness there is a post office in DTD?? How did I NEVER notice that before, where is it? So neat!

The Post Office.

Where was this in DTD? We looked for stamps while we were there so we could mail postcards and could not find them. Great pics and updates Memom!

I always buy pens as souvenirs too. For myself and for other people. Not only because they are practical, but also because they are usually inexpensive!!!

I need to go to DTD early, like you did, because when we went, it was late-ish and there were no nighttime EMH so I guess everyone had the idea of going to DTD. It was soooo crowded!

I love the pictures of the Precious Moments figurines, too. My mom used to collect those so she's the first person I think of when I see them.

So glad that Jill had a safe trip home and Brooklynn kept herself entertained. I can just imagine her showing Ariel the sights. Too cute!

I LOVE how you always buy pens!!!! Ever since I was a VERY small child, and my Mom would vouch for this, every time we went to WDW I ALWAYS was fascinated and drawn in by the pen displays. It was always one of the first things I bought with my souvenir money---and this is still true to today!!! My sister laughed at me this year when we had that night at DHS where we got to shop just the two of us---I spent almost 20 minutes at one store just looking AT ALL THE PENS!!!! I think it is something in teachers' DNA!!!! We just LOVE pens---especially Disney ones!!!!
