A Summer Wedding and a Disney Trip CANCELLED, HELP DECIDE WHEN WE'LL GO IN 2011

oh, I am soooo sorry about Chickie. I know how it feels to lose a pet as we only have currently (wait, I have to count......) 14 pets!!! I hope the kids know that he's in a better place and that no one will ever replace him in their hearts. :littleangel:

Aw Pam, I am sorry to hear about your bird dying. Maybe the kids will adjust easily and will be satisfied with another bird. I'll keep them in my prayers.

Thank you both! They are fine. Just sad when they think about him! Lizzie and Sam really want another bird, but Emily said she does not. She is the most emotional. She doesn't want another one because she doesn't want to be sad when it dies. Unfortunately, that's life, huh? Pretty sad. But you can't not love because someday it will make you sad. I told Liz and Sam that we will get another one, but we are going to wait a little while, for Emily. When she's not so sad anymore, i'm sure she'll want another one too. So, maybe in a month or two! Sam already has names picked out. She wants to name them Charlie and Bella. We are going to get 2. Unfortunately, Charlie is my boss's name and Bella is his dog's name. So when anyone at work finds out there names, which they will, cause we're all close, they may think i'm a little weird. Soooooo, we're going to have to make a big list of names and pick other fun names. I know we can sway her towards other names. I laughed when she told me the names. Like where did they come from. Of all the names in the world.:rolleyes1

All of our pets have had Disney names.....Belle, Tinkerbell, Chance and now Oddball. Maybe you could suggest some Disney names.

By the way, I've started my pre-trip report. I hope you'll come over and take a look.

So, i'm now obsessed with reading Fall trip reports and seeing pics and hearing all about Mickey's Not so scary Halloween Party, and seeing all of the park decorations. We are huge Halloween lovers. The kids are going to be in heaven. They do not know about it yet. I was thinking of surprising them with it when I get the tickets, whenever it is they come out. I heard March, so, i'm not sure. Does anyone know when they came out for sale last year.

But..... I get really excited about things. So, i'm thinking i'm not going to wait until I get the tickets to tell them. I've been reading other PTRs too and some disers already have costumes or at least costume ideas. I really want to talk to the kids about it and see what they'd like to dress up as.

Speaking of not knowing, they really don't know we have trip dates set either. I really wanted to make sure we were 100% going. Manny is in, I'm in (;)) So, it's a go!!!! I'm going to book it in a few weeks. I want to make sure the dates are good. I hate calling to change things after the ressie is made. I get nervous. Last may, I changed the dates just by a day because airfare was cheaper (which could of course happen this time too) and I think the next 3 times I called they still had us in for the Magical Express the day before we were due to arrive. I mean, I know that's not a real big deal, but little things stress me out, ok! Especially when it comes to MY Disney Trip:goodvibes
They know we have intentions to go back, but they think nothing is planned yet.

SOoooo, tonight I figured on a little Disney Party! It'll just be something little put together. I figure we'll start off playing our Magic Kingdom board game. I'll tell them the date when we're going! And then tell them about MNSSHP. I'll show them some pictures and then we'll talk costumes!!!
They are going to be SUPER EXCITED!!! Sam's class won a reward recently, so the kids chose costume day. So, I had to dig out the Halloween box and let her pick a costume to wear. Well, that brought up the girls talking about what they wanted to be next year, they were all excited. Wait til they find out where the Halloween party is this year :woohoo:

Ok, i'm off for now to read some Halloween TRs

I'm almost positive that MNSSHP tickets went on sale on May 1st in 2009 b/c we purchased them on the day they were available. We loved MNSSHP and we'll be going again this year! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I think they will love that! And yay for your PTR, of course i'll read along!!!!

Oh, good, i'll have to be ready to purchase them as soon as they come out. I'm just so excited about MNSSHP!

So in thinking about MNSSHP costumes, I'm not sure if I should just ask the kids what they want to be and let them all decide on their own costumes. Or, should I try and figure out something we can all do as a group, or at least the 4 kids? I'm not sure what we would do for group costumes though? Any suggestions?

Yay for MNSSHP!!!!!! I'm sure your girls will love it!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear about Chiclet- I grew up around lots of pets so I definitely know how it feels to lose one. We are actually getting a cat on Thursday because we miss having pets around.

Oh and by the way, make sure you take a look at my PTR when you get a chance- I have some BIG news !!!!

Have a great night!!!

Don't forget to check out the sales at www.disneyoutlet.com. I remember seeing costumes on their site but it was a little while back. You never know...you might find some good bargains.

Thanks for the website, I did not know about that one! I definitely check it out.

Thanks, and good luck with your new cat! And I just checked out your PTR, super exciting news! Can't wait to book mine:cloud9:

Ok, so they were pretty surprised when I told them that we are going to book our trip very soon. Emily said " we're booking it, that means we're really going back" So they were happy about that. Then I told them about MNSSHP and they were VERY HAPPY about that! I showed them pictures of the parade and Hallowishes and let them know that they could do some trick or treating. They were really excited that the park closes at 7pm and then the party starts and we can stay in the park until 12a! Sam said she wanted to be Tinkerbell, Lizzie didn't have any ideas yet and Emily said she wanted to be something scary this year, so I suggested a Disney Villian. She seemed to like that idea. See, in the Kingdom Keepers that we're reading Maleficent is the evil Villian that is tormenting everyone, so she kinda scares them now. I hope we don't run into her in September. See, the book is so real, everything is real. There is no made up stuff about the parks and parades, so to the kids, if that stuff is all real, then the things that are happening is real. They get really excited over these books. But maybe she can go as Cruella, that would be fun! I know Liz and Sam will be fairies and/or princesses!
This is going to be so much fun!

I'm also going to start our Disney nights back up! We'll do them on sunday nights! So, I'll have to start thinking of what's going to be first! I don't know if we're going to do them every week, cause we're pretty far out, i'm thinking maybe every other week. So twice a month until we get a little closer than we'll go for every week, we'll see! I also have a wedding to plan

I just got off the phone with an agent from Southwest airlines also. (See, we wanted to drive this time, but now that it's starting to get a little closer and we've been talking about it, we're kind of thinking driving might not be the best idea. I would go for it, but now Manny is like...." well, what if one of the kids gets carsick, or what if they are miserable" So, i'm thinking he will not like the drive and is blaming it on the kids. ;) But if he doesn't want to then i'm not going to do it, we don't need any miserable vacationers. )
When I booked airfare last january I booked a ticket for my mom who wanted to come, she ended up backing out and we have a credit for her ticket. They told me it was good for 12 months from the date of purchase. Well that is january 24th, so that's not gonna help me cause airfare isn't even available to book for september yet. So she told me that I had to call back the day after it expires and I will get a 6 month extension. They will deduct $50 for doing this, but it's better than nothing! So I have a $127.20 credit, so that's cool! I can't wait for September's flights to become available. Not that i'm going to book right away, but just so I can get an idea on what they are going for this year!

Doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you get to tell your kids that they are going back to Disney again!:littleangel:

I was just over on the Disney Outlet website and they had a lot of costumes on clearance and I think they were about $25.00 each. They even had adults costumes. Last week, there was a free shipping promo if you bought $89 or more in merchandise.

How long would your drive be if you decided to drive to Disney World? We've been making the 14-16 hour (depends on traffic and weather) drive every year. I'd love to fly but, in order to get any decent airfare, we'd have to drive to an airport that's almost 3 hours away.

Pam, that is awesome about the airfare credit, even if they are going to take $50 for the extension! And I'm very happy the girls are excited to go back (as if they wouldn't be!!!). I have both a devil lady costume and a kitty costume so it would be up to Victoria which one she will wear and I will just wear the other one! I have to wait for the income tax refund to book, but I am so excited and so is my Victoria!!! OH, and updated info ---- she may let Peter and I get married this September before we leave for Disney! Ok, kid, make up your mind so I can get wedding planning underway! :rotfl:

I'm so glad they were excited! They will love MNSSHP! We started doing Movie Day with a friend of mine that is going at the same time we are in Sept. We watched UP yesterday and had balloon cupcakes and the kids made their own Adventure badge books! It was fun! (there are pics in my PTR if you are intrested!) :goodvibes

Yes, it's so exciting to tell them that we are going to Disney! Now they have something to dream about! :cloud9:

If we drove mapquest says 21 hours, so a little bit longer than that with traffic and stops

Yea, i'm glad I get to get some kind of credit still. I thought I was going to lose the whole thing, so that made me happy.
And I hope you get to have your wedding too! Wedding planning has been almost as fun for me as Disney planning :rolleyes1

Oh, that's fun! Movie day with a friend! I will go check out PTR!!!

Pam, how fun!!!!and exciting!!
I'm happy the girls were so happy about the hallowishes!
I would like to fly; but, just cannot justify the cost...it does not hurt to drive it is only 10 hr for us and its not bad...and we always have to visit other parks.

and yay for the movie nights starting back up...we do movie day everyday (we don't have crafts or snacks--might have to make one special once a week) we are stuck on UP at the moment...I really like the cupcake and adventrue book idea! (toyboysnmygirl)
Gwendolyn, DD21, gave an adventure book to Joe, DDBF, for Christmas this year...she started and they are going to fill it in as they go!!!!
Have a great day!
:wave2:

Oh Pam I am excited for you . It is always so much fun when it gets closer to trip time. The kids will love MNSSHP, we had a pretty good time when we went, but it was just soooooooooo hot. I enjoyed wearing a costume along with Dallas. Of course Dale didn't wear one :rolleyes1.

I can understand not wanting to drive as far as ya'll have to drive. I'm glad we only have an 8 hour drive because I won't fly. The $127 credit is pretty good if it pays for even half of one of your tickets. Hey every penny helps when it comes to a Disney trip :thumbsup2.

Yay for MNSSHP!! We are really considering doing it too! :goodvibes May 1st is when the tickets go on sale. I am watching for the dates at the moment--I am hoping they are released soon. With them moving back the EP's F&WF, I am hoping it does not mean they are for MNSSHP.

Sorry to hear about your bird passing on. I hope the girls are doing better.

The flying versus driving debate: we are still planning on driving it at the moment. I am checking prices out occasionally but SW has not released dates out (as you know). Through AAA, I saw Delta/NW are running $150 tickets for us at the moment but with bagging charges both way it is going to get way expensive!! We really do like the idea of driving it at the moment--who knows, it could change for us but it is not likely for us. I hope you can get great prices!! :wizard:

thats awesome that you are finally able to book!:cool1: Just thought I would let you know, driving is not that bad! I DO NOT fly. Will not, can not. So that only leaves driving. I actually really enjoy the ride down and feel like it makes us appreciate the trip even more.

Oh, your so lucky with a 10 hr drive, I wish! Oh, it would be so cheap to get there. It sucks when getting to the world costs half as much as the entire Disney Trip!

Another lucky one that does not live too far from the world. Oh, I wish! Yeah, I figured it should cover at least almost 1, and hey, that does help. I mean we could still change our minds and go for the drive, but i'll keep checking southwest's prices as it gets closer.

Yeah, we're not 100% set on flying but it's just so quick and then your there. I"m not a flying fan either that's for sure, anyone who read my PTR for May will know that! It will probably all come down to flight prices. Right now for August it's 129 each way, the end of sept can't be any more than that, and it will hopefully even be cheaper.

thats awesome that you are finally able to book!:cool1: Just thought I would let you know, driving is not that bad! I DO NOT fly. Will not, can not. So that only leaves driving. I actually really enjoy the ride down and feel like it makes us appreciate the trip even more.

I know, I was actually really looking forward to the drive. I figured we'd get to see a lot of neat things that we otherwise would never see. Well, we'll see.

Ouch 21 hours?!?! Our drive is usually between 14 and 16 hours...just depends on traffic, weather, how many times we have to stop and pee :rolleyes1, etc. Every year, I price out airfare all the way down until the day before we are supposed to leave and I've never gotten a good enough price to fly all four of us down. Maybe, you'll luck up and get some good airfare.
