so last time we were at disney was when they offered the Fairytale package 2003 in July. The crowds seemed managable and we enjoyed our stay. I am wondering if anyone was there at that time and if you have been there in july since do you think the crowds have gotten heavier? I know the heat issue, we plan to be at the parks at opening and resting with a swim in the middle of the day. I just keep hearing how tourism is up and wondering if Disney will be more swamped than the summer of 2003.

That sounds right to me.
Its been up in the "off-season" the 3 times we were there within the past year.

I don't know if you should be "nervous", but if its crowded you WILL have some more folks in your way.

Yes, early mornings are the best strategy for avoiding crowds under any conditions.

Just a warning about July....we were near WDW around July 4 so we planned a quick trip...It was so hot....almost unbearable....and it was very crowded. IF you dont do well in heat, you may want to rethink that time of the year (if you can) Its much harder to get things done, but if you don't mind it being 99 degrees in the shade....then you will be all right. Just my opinion....I dont care to ver go back in July...The 4th of July fireworks were amazing though...wishes was 360 and longer, and there was another awesome fireworks show. They made it worth it though...(I've been 14 times so it wasn't a big deal if we wanted to go back to the room...

July will be hot and crowded. Not the time for me.

I really like traveling in July. It is hot yes, but if you are prepared it isn't so bad. It is also crowded. I found that if I arrived at the park at opening it was easy to manage the crowds. If you wait to enter the parks until later, you will see long waits.

We were there in July 2003 and July 2005. I do not think the crowds were any different. VERY crowded. We went EARLY and did well. Around 11:00 it starts getting pretty heavy. But with going early and using FP, we had a great time and did not wait in any lines longer than 15 minutes.

disneyfanfamily- thanks we were fine in2003 so hope this summer goes fine to.We really do enjoy the summer long park hours and we are prepared for the heat! Bring it on! I am over this cold weather. Also going another time of year is not good for us as I work in the schools here and we don't have enough time to go during the year. When we visit We will spend 8 nights at POr then we have to visit my mother for a week since we are there so we really need a good 2 weeks.

We go every three years in July...week of the 4th. Last year on my b-day (July 6th) it was 98 degrees while we were at MGM. The days are long and hot, but we were there at park openings and got so much done before the heat got to be unbearable. It sounds like you have a good plan. We love tourguidemike.com . He always has extra tips, hints, etc. for holiday periods. We took lots of his advice, chose the options that were best for our family, and had a great time!!! I'd definately check him out...click on the link at the top of the page...have a great trip!!!! :sunny:

We go in late July each year and I don't think it has gotten too much busier than in past years. You have the right strategy and mind set for a successful July trip! We too love the longer hours and since I am a teacher this is the only time I can go on vacation. I have been during other times of the year and each season has their pros and cons.

I don't think July was that bad, we went in late july a couple years ago (then the next year in August) and we spent the entire day in MK. Of course it was hot, but it's FL in July if it wasn't hot there'd be a problem, even so I didn't find it unbearable at all. Maybe since I'm from the south I'm a little more used to the heat, but with your plan I'm sure you'll be fine. As for crowds, I've only ever been to Disney World in July/August so I don't know how the crowds are any other time of year.

We have gone for 3 weeks the past 3 Julys (Last week of June til about 7/10). I didn't notice a hugh increase in the crowds over the 3 years. It is manageable especially since it is so hot. We used FP and stopped for drinks and shopping a lot. Being there so long we weren't in "marathon" mode. We just went again this past December and I really missed the late night hours. To me, there is nothing better than being out late at night at WDW !! Ahhh !! It is beautiful ! We are not early risers so the EMH til 2 -3am were perfect for us ! Enjoy !! :thumbsup2
