A DISmeet here..a DISmeet there..Our August Southern Tour- Final Posts - #544!

Lisa, just a quick fly-by before we leave tomorrow morning. I love the wedding album...it is beautiful.

thank you Kathy! saw you made it onto the ME! now off the computer, see your green light is on....go and enjoy your trip and give Mark a  hope he can relax and enjoy too!

Sitting on hold (story of my life) before I head back out and I am TRYING to catch up on a few things...and am mortified I haven't yet commented on your TR fun (yes, I saw the pics but it is fun to see them OFF the camera) and the GORGEOUS album you did for your anniversary! Both that date and Jim's BD are coming up...are you planning on doing another remembrance of his birthday for those who want to donate to the orphanage? Will you have a special link? Please let me know. Miss you friend. Wish you could come to Florida for THIS trip with us. SO proud of all Megan is doing, glad to hear the jazz choir will work with her schedule if enough try out.

thanks for stopping by...happy to give you something to look at while you are on hold :goodvibes
yes I will be doing the same thing this year for Jim's birthday....same as last year, I'm not allowed to post a "link" since its not an approved DIS website, so I will just ask anyone who is interested in making a donation to PM me, I will have it going for the month of October!
I miss you too and wish we could join in on the fun too, but you all need your time as a family! so will just wait to hear all about it when you get home!
proud of my girl too! still waiting for the other auditions to get done!

Dear Lisa, Thank you for calling me today! I AM still here and I know there are lots still here reading, that are just not posting.:hug: DEFINITELY send me the link for Jim's birthday donation, it is such a worthy cause and very dear to your heart...and you are dear to mine, so it is important to me. :flower3: I wil miss you!

this is a "mascot" can't remember his name, but they had a short film about it

IMG_0283.jpg

we enjoy our tour, did some taste testing....think Club Cool, but much bigger, think they had 7 or 8 different regions of the world with samples, then we went through the gift shop, Megan got a t-shirt and I picked up some coke stickers for my scrapbooking.

then head over to a small outdoor burger place for a late lunch and had burgers and Coke Icee's which was needed since the humidity had gotten much higher.

after lunch we headed back to the hotel to rest, decided to stay in that night for dinner, so ordered from the adjacent restaurant and ate in our room

did get a pretty sunset

Thursday ----

today we slept in and planned on visiting the Atlanta History Center and then over to visit dear friends we had met in Thousand Oaks CA and hadn't seen since 2007 when they moved to Atlanta

it was great to see some of historic Atlanta

we had a light lunch about 230 at the Swan Coach House Restaurant...but didnt take any photos...it was very Victorian looking in the decor with lots of big bold flowery wall paper!

as we were eating lunch my friend texted and had to push back our plans, since her oldest DD had a last minute change in a dental appt....the only bummer about that was the History Center was about 2 blocks away from their house....so we headed back to the hotel (was only about 4 miles away) and hung out for awhile.

we got back to our friends about 430 and had a wonderful visit with them....backstory - Megan and their third DD Amanda took ballet together and we've stayed great friends! the other girls are Emily, Charlotte and Madeline...their dad Alan was out of town....Tracy and I had a lot of fun getting caught up and making dinner together while Megan, Amanda and Madeline went swimming

Megan got some exciting news tonight....she made the Jazz Choir at school, she is one happy girl , so proud of my girl for trying out and being dedicated to the 2 a week early rehearsals before school starts!

Congratulations Megan! What a talented young lady. I love looking at all your pictures of Atlanta, I did a lot of those things when I was younger (we were at the '96 Olympics) so it's neat to kind of remember things. I can't wait to see the aquarium pictures, I went a couple of years back with my younger cousins in Atlanta, it is an awesome aquarium! :thumbsup2

You got some great pictures of your days in Atlanta. Casey LOVES the World of Coke and tries to make everyone go there when they visit us. What a nice evening with your friends. Sounds like a great way to catch up. I guess Megan has a long list of potential pen pals, she has friends all over the country.

Congrats to Megan on making Jazz choir. She is going to be a busy girl this year.

and decided to head back to the hotel....I had some laundry to get done for the next part of our trip. decided to stay in the rest of the day and had dinner again downstairs, it had just gotten very humid for us and didn't feel like going out.

Saturday -----------------

had a lazy morning, ate breakfast and then we headed out to visit the "High Art Museum" but got there a bit to early didn't check Saturday opening times) so found a Barnes & Nobel to hang out in for a bit....we enjoyed the museum , sorry no photos though....was a good mix of masters, contemporary, sculptures, great area of local photos too! we had a light lunch before we headed out to visit some other friends for the night and have dinner.

Jim and I had worked with Melanie up in Shawnee on the Delaware back in 1996 and had stayed in touch...we did meet up once in Atlanta when Megan was a couple months old and she visited us in Charlotte in 2003...she married Dave about 7 years ago and they have two adorable little girls Caroline is almost 4 and Sara is 19 months! Megan had a blast playing with them while Mel and I chatted
