A DISmeet here..a DISmeet there..Our August Southern Tour- Final Posts - #544!

Wow, those aquarium photos came out great! :goodvibes I don't even bother to photograph there any more because they never come out well :/ All your pictures look so good though, it looks like a fun day. I remember the penguin "tube", great pictures of that too!

I am so far behind!

I loved the Atlanta pictures - the Coke museum looks really cool.

My favorite pictures are the ones of you and Megan sticking your heads up in the penguin habitat - how cute is that? Love it!

D~

not to far behind..only a couple updates :rotfl: the WofC was fun! especially trying all the different flavors!
the penguin habitat was fun, a bit tough to get into for the taller people...had to crawl in and watch carefully not to bump your head!

Today is my :littleangel:Jim's birthday , we will be celebrating him tonight with apple pie for dessert, his favorite!

hope to have our Charleston part of the trip posted in the next couple of days!

I just wanted to stop by to let you know that I've been thinking of you and Megan all day today. Much love and (((hugs)))

D~

Lisa, I'm trying to catch up (so hard after two weeks gone). Love the arrival in Atlanta and the visit to the Coke spot and the museum.

I'll be making a donation in Jim's memory during the week (didn't have time today with the memorial and work will be crazy tomorrow).

I am sure yesterday was a tough day for you and Megan. I hope you enjoyed the apple pie. I am sure you spent the day remembering your wonderful Jim.

Thinking of you and Megan on this special day dear sis! :grouphug: I know it is tough. My prayers continue!

I am glad you and Medan celebrated Jim in such a personal way for his birthday. I know he was with you...

I loved the aquarium update. I know you understand I am just drowning in everything, but that doesn't make me want to be here any less.

Love you! :grouphug:

CHARLESTON!!!! Sunday....

we arrived with no problems to Charleston, got our car and hit the road to our hotel. we got our room right away, settled in and made a game plan for the day!

decided to walk around a bit and found a little french bistro for lunch...was so yummy. we did some window shopping for a couple of hours in the "highend" stores and then headed back to our room to relax a bit before dinner!

a little back story...when Jim and I first visited Charleston back in 1995 we found a restaurant called California Dreaming...they have the BEST little croissants with a honey butter drizzle :faint: so when we moved to Charleston in 1999 we had many a dinner there....we then visited in 2003 when we lived in Charlotte and I have been dreaming of them ever since...

when we got seated I immediately ordered an appetizer of them...our waiter laughed and said you must be a returning customer!

and here they are

they melt in your mouth....we enjoyed our dinner with a beautiful view of the Ashley River

then head back to our hotel for an early night, our early morning flight had finally caught up to us!

Great update, Lisa. The City is so pretty. And those croissants have my mouth drooling at the moment.

Great update---I am a huge fan of bread products, those croissants look delicious. Wow. Kinda makes me want to go down to Charleston just for those!! :rotfl2:

yup me too, a carb girl :thumbsup2 you really should since you are pretty close, more than worth the trip! they also have really good salads with homemade dressing!

Charleston looks so gorgous. Thank you for all the pictures...

It's kind of funny that you should do that update, because last night I finally brought all the books that Athene sent me about Charleston up to bed to read... Since Charleston is in the running for our anniversary trip.

So, I loved seeing all the pictures, it looks like a very beautiful place.

Do you mind telling me where you stayed?

Thanks for a great update - can't wait to hear about the rest. :)

oh you two will love it!!! I will try to get more posted in a couple days....we stayed at the Hampton Inn at 345 Meeting St....was very nice, clean, free breakfast and was right across the street from the free trolley station and close shopping areas....the trolley is a great way to get around town and save on the walking!

That is good to know. I am really struggling with where to stay (no matter where we decide to go)... I find it so hard to plan trips to places other than Disney, because you know when you go to Disney - they have such high standards for cleanliness/comfort/safety.

I can't wait to see the rest of your pictures. :)

I was quite pleased with the hotel, staff was really nice too! breakfast had lots to choose from & there was a nice pool....there are a lot of bed & breakfast and old inns in town too, but they are quite a bit more $$...just depends on what you want for your trip

I am really enjoying your TR and all the pictures. I don't comment often but always reading! I also really enjoyed meeting you and only wish we would have had more time together but enjoyed the little we had!

I posted the other day from my phone, but don't see the post.

Great update. Those croissants look very inviting!
