A break from the Parks

I'm going to be the odd one and say play it by ear. If mid week you feel you need a break take it, if mid day on a day you need a break take it and go back to the park later in the day or not. We never had a day when we don't go to the parks but sometimes that might just be until 11 then decide to spend the rest of the day at the pool. We are one of the few families (mother and grown son but we have been going since he was 2 3/4) on the boards that just play it by ear. We never even know what park we are going to be at the next day in most cases, if we decide the night before we book FPs we absolutely want then, otherwise we just stand in line (the horror). We don't book ADRs in advance either, if we know we might want a TS that day we go to GS the morning of and book one, more often than not we are walking around a park and decide we want a TS that night and I get on MDE and book it. Makes life a lot simpler and vacation a lot more relaxing that way.

We don't usually take any breaks, commando for however many days we are there. However taking our 2 yr old DGS with his parents for 8 days. I am planning no park on arrival day(Sat), park days Sunday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday. That said, the day off that is planned is for DH and I with DGS so his parents can have an adult day to enjoy. We will likely do something with him but are not planning it so that we can play it by ear depending on how he is doing. Originally the plan was for the plan free day was Tuesday, but then they announced the line up for the Culinary Demo's so we switched days.

For us a break is not needed until the fourth morning.

It would be very hard for us to give up going to a park on any given day. Maybe a sleep in day, then pool or other stuff , then parks at night?

I "liked" some of the posts suggesting mid-week, but to be honest, we travel about the same # of days as you or maybe 1 more and have never managed the break day. We go-go-go every day and feel like it each day, but are flat-out pooped by the end of the trip. So, I keep saying "someday we'll do a break day!". . . next trip comes and no one is willing to chill out while there are parks to be seen! So do as I say = have a mid-week break to keep everyone fresh. Do as I do = no breaks! Allow flexibility for day 4 or 5 to be a sleep in day or moving at a slower pace, but assume you'll want to be in a park every day.
