$99 HP Touchpad

I don't think the price will go down until after Hp has fulfilled all their orders and releases the rest of their stock...

Just over a week ago nobody wanted them.

Ipad 2 plus will be coming out soon and then a few months later Ipad 3.
Technology changes so fast.... and like the MP3 players.... if they are not an Apple product the kids don't want them......

For us Adults that don't care about all the APPs it is a good deal to use for email and as an ereader.
It may be a blessing I didn't score one as now I will wait for the new IPAD 3.

I am getting one. I joke texted my Aunt early this morning for her to go to best Buy this am and get me one, she said okay and went with my Mom and other Aunt. They picked up one GB and one GB after waiting in line. I can't wait to play with mine tonight !! I got eh birthday present I wanted !!! and my BIL got the GB one her wanted.

Well the best buys by me are either in stock and saving for people who have to buy the 2yr air cards from them and then they are giving away the 16gb or selling the 32gb for $49 or one this morning only got 6 in stock (really? only 6? doubtful!) and another told me that tomorrow morning they will hand out tickets for a shipment that came or is coming in today!)

Update: TOUCHPAD AVAILABILITY UPDATE: HP says that there are shipments coming, and that they will continue to manufacture the Touchpads through the end of September. Unfortunately, no one is very forthcoming with hard numbers, but it does sound like plenty of these will be available. They just aren’t making any promises as to exactly when and how many will be distributed at a time.

The BB inventory checkers are not very reliable. I went to BB on Wednesday to pick up the HP charging dock. Went to the pickup counter and the guy was on the phone. Got off that call (not related to touchpad) and picked up the other call. Felt SO BAD for him. The person had been on hold 7 minutes (he told me phone shows time and told his mgr this also). Person on phone claimed on hold 20 minutes. The inventory checker said in stock at my store...of course there are none and person on phone was yelling and rude to guy on phone...demanding manager (hung up right as manager picking up phone). Second call comes thru...this person asked if they had any. He said no...that person must have said thanks and hung up. So two types of people. Guy from BB said the inventory checker not accurate. I live in town of about 50,000 they had 75 calls on Wednesday between 1-7PM.

Also I can say Walmart and Staples inventory checkers showing instore availability not accurate. Went to get hard case at Walmart--online shows my store had and price online $19.99. Guy was so sweet and said even though they had they don't match the online store---tried to get manager to do but the manager wouldn't and I understood. He apologized up and down. Staples also showed in stock so I went there---$29 or so I believe. I asked the guy where they were...he said stock thing not up to date and they didn't have. Said thanks walked out and ordered off Amazon (it is shipping today the case). All of this before confirmation of order from HP Small Business.

Guess moral is the inventory checkers are probably not very reliable. Think those lining up at BB early early might stand a chance if store gets. Also we all need to remember that those working in stores can't magically make stock appear. They don't have stash hidden in back and aren't out to get us. There is no need to be rude or nasty to them. They are just the bearer of the bad news. Same with websites (BN and OnSale are prime examples and I i had orders cancelled by both) where sites can't keep up with 1000's trying to order at once the few they have in stock. We can't yell, scream at them for the computers not keeping up after someone on SD or FW posting they are available at XXXXX website.

I do appreciate BN customer service and the gift card that was unexpected and will allow me to get books for my Nook!

Good luck shopping everyone....hope people get them. I won't believe mine is legit until in my hands. Figure last week most of us didn't want or know about these. Now that they are so cheap everyone HAS TO HAVE!

How much are the air cards and what can you use them on since you can't use them on the tablets?

Use your order number from the confirmation email in the web order line, enter your order date. Use that information only. And yes, half the time it says your order wasn't found. At least that site has updated itself with shipping times, which as others have found out isn't being updated for everyone.

forgot to mention (if you have not seen this in any of my previous posts), the site you have just posted, is the site that stated my ship date was 8/22 and arrival date was 8/26, then changed it to ship date 8/27 arrival 8/30...but still in the admin phase of the order..so this site is of no use to me what so ever.. it has not updated since 8/21 at about 11pm at night... this is the site I have been complaining about.. the other site where you log in with email is the one I could not access until last night.. and when finally getting thru, it stated that my order was on back order.. so to me, the log in site provided a much better picture of what was going on.. the other one showed me no updates at all since 8/21! not all sites are working the same for all orders.. and that I have not figured out why...

I'm not so sure I would trust that site. Nobody else is reporting this news. If HP were going to continue to manufacture through end of September major news sites like Engadget would have had that news by now. As would the two official HP twitter feeds devoted to touchpad availability. There is no way they would continue to make new ones at a $300 loss per unit.

I think it may be referencing what is already known, that shipments from the final manufacture run are on their way, plus any retail returned units.
