$99 HP Touchpad

For those who ordered through Small Business...

Here is what my order shows. I did not start this thread until after I purchased through Small Business on 8/20 around 1pm CST, so I'm probably ahead of most of you in priority.

My order date is listed as Aug 20. If you click "View>>" you will see more detail. I included the useful info. As you can see the ship and delivery date are the same.

Order Date/Time: 08/20/2011 3:29:57 PM
Estimated Ship Date: 08/25/2011
Estimated Delivery Date: 08/25/2011
Credit Approval Date: 08/20/2011

To get even more info, click on "Line Item Detail".

Order Date/Time: 08/20/2011 3:29:57 PM
Requested Ship Date: 08/20/2011
Credit Approval Date: 08/20/2011
Ship Complete: No

Here you will see the important table.

Qty Order 1
Qty Alloc. 0
Qty B/O 1
Qty Invcd 0
CTO Ship 0
Whse# IN

As you can see, I'm on back order. (B/O)

For Whse# I think this is Warehouse. It is either Indiana, as I am in the Chicago area, or "in". Anyone have anything different? If it is Indiana, then your orders will be filled by regional supply, which is the worst case scenario as people who ordered first may be supplied by a region that had more orders and/or less supply than other regions.

The final piece of information is ESD. Estimated Ship Date.

For me it shows a ship date of 8/25 and a delivery date of 8/30. This is the first time delivery date appears different than the ship date.

So there you go, please compare and contrast with your small business order. I used the link given in the confirmation email.

I just called the phone number on the email I received (which I posted earlier this morning). A recorded message said that if you ordered the touchpad BEFORE 4 am Monday, your order will be processed and you will receive free shipping (which is where I fit in, ordered Sunday morning). If you ordered AFTER 4 am Monday, your order will be cancelled. SO, that's the latest.

I ordered 1 16GB and 1 32GB from HP SMB on Sunday - 08/21 at 3 AM.
Got the confirmation email on 08/22 at 9 AM. My CC is not charged yet.
But my order is showing Ordered Date as : 08/22 5:54 AM. :confused3
Why? People any idea?
On the phone, the automated message for HP SMP said if you placed your order before 4 AM CST on Monday 8/22, you will receive your HP touchpad (the message was unambiguous) and free shipping with the discounted price. However, if you order post that time, your order will be cancelled.HP SMB: 1-866-625-0242 and choose option 3 .

@BrynaAtHp says they are no longer receiving any orders for HP SMB with no more coming. A next batch will be coming to HP Home, however.

I know 2 places that have them but they will not ship to me.that makes me real mad because you use to do it and know they wont.

Oh, well I guess I won't be getting one. I still haven't gotten an email from them and on their site I had an order # but it said it couldn't be processed. And now the login url I was using to check on it is gone and when I try logging in to the site in another place it says that my email/account doesn't exist. Blah. :sad2:

Some Best Buy stores are getting in shipments. Mine of course isn't but I did call one an hour away and they had 10 left in stock. Call your BB to see if they have any or are getting more in this week!

Amazon- and ON sale are being blasted by low ratings and irrate consumers

When the price decrease was announced this weekend, our websites and the websites of many major retailers were overwhelmed with customers placing orders for the HP Touchpad. In fact, the sudden influx of orders was well in excess of the amount of product available. We are now in the process of filling valid orders using all available inventory on a first-come, first-served basis. We will be cancelling all orders that we cannot promptly fill and sending cancellation notices. Thank you for your understanding and your patience as we deal with this unprecedented event.

Luvmy3,

Arent't you in the Chicago area? Which store did you call? If it is close to me, I will go and pick up for both of us and arrange to get them it to you. I live in the Northwest Suburbs.

Yes. I hear the same message.
But I am confused because I ordered them on Sunday - 08/21 3:00 AM (minutes rounded) but my order date is showing as Monday - 08/22 6:00 AM (minutes rounded) in email confirmation and showing the same in the order status also.
If they really follow same as the IVR message then I may loose Touchpads even though I ordered them a day before. Grrrrr...

I think that is their intention. I have an email from hp dated Aug 21 7:20 PM.
I called HP and they said the email came from HP home and they had no stock.

I am thoroughly turned off by Hp to the point that I want to get rid of all my HP products and replace them with another manufacturers products.I don't know if this was just a big publicity gimmick or what?
The touchpad only came out a little more than a month ago.

I think those that are selling multiples of them, should be taken down if they are not an authorized re-seller of the product. That should take care of the ones that bought 30 of them.

A big publicity gimmick? They bought Palm for 1.2 billion last year. The shutting down of WebOS will cost them 68 cents a share. HP's current stock price is getting slammed.

This is a multi-billion dollar failure and you think it is a publicity stunt?

HP could have done what so many other failed products have done, bury them in the desert a-la the E.T Atari game so many years ago, or sold them for scrap, or pushed them off on a foreign school system never to be heard from again. Instead they sold the thing at an insane price. You are mad because you didn't get your insanely cheap tablet? You are mad at HP for this? But if you had gotten 10 from Walmart to sell on eBay, or got through faster on their website... then you'd be OK with the situation?

Oh! And I keep meaning to say thank you, Bonoriffic, for posting this! I never would have heard about it otherwise.

My second one shipped from Best Buy, yay! The first one is for DS for xmas then I ordered it for my dad who wanted to get one for little sister. Now I just hope the one from Amazon ships, that's DH's xmas pressie to me : )

How dare you tell me why I am mad or what I'd be okay with.
You don't know me have any idea what my values are. If being confrontational is what makes you happy you have my deepest sympathy.
I would not have been upset if I was told there were out of stock then I would have had the opportunity to search elsewhere or have known there was a limited supply but to be informed my order was processed and promised delivery is deceitful.
Would I have bought 10 of them to sell on ebay......NEVER.
I was even apprehensive about buying one of them...... price so low .... new product I kept thinking there must be something wrong with them,
That's why i used my AMEX..... if it failed amex had me covered and I had a fancy drink tray.
I congratulate those of you that were able to purchase this at this low price.
What I am disgusted about is if you just google HP Touchpad cancelled orders
You will see this changing of dates and lost orders is not an isolated incident.
As for buying on ebay.... BUyer beware...
Is it worth more than $99/$149.... HP doesn't think so....Consumer reviews all agree. There was no rush on them last week when most vendors had dropped the price over $100.
Just my 2 cents and I hope you have a nice day.

Stupid question but do you need a data plan with this to download apps and play games and stuff? Thanks for the link to Best Buy's availability. Apparently, mine has some in so I'm going there when I get off work. Fingers crossed they are still there. WOuld be amazing Christmas gift for my DD.
