have a nice night, work at 7am on a saturday kinda sucks! i used to do long hours on weekends but now i've got a 9 to 5 job and i dont miss having to work weekends!
you'll have to let us know what monsters vs aliens is like, i might go see that, looks funny!

have a good night

The only shore excursion we will be doing is the fishing one at CC and it starts at 9am so we shouldn't have any problems yall will just have to tell me how to do the reservation linking i have no clue. I think the biggest table i saw when we went was for 8 people.

i havent got a clue at the moment how to link the reservations, i'll find out at some point before the cruise though.

just curious, is anyone here up for a fish extender exchange?

It's a sin that I'm up this early, let alone working, on a Saturday. At least it's only every other Saturday.

I have no clue how to link reservations either. I'm sure we can find out from the cruise boards. I think I'm going to call Disney next week and switch to second seating.

I was thinking of the FE. I think someone else had mentioned it on this thread. I have no ideas for it at all though!

we've got 5 months to think of stuff for it!! its just a bit of fun, i arranged one for our cruise last year, we had 5 or 6 people in ours but it was still a lot of fun! it was great getting back to our room and finding goodies in our bag!!
i'm sure we can find out how to link reservations, if i cant find out on here i'll give disney a ring, but again we've got ages to figure that out!
hows work? where do you work?

What kind of stuff did people make for the FE you did last time? I need ideas!

I work for AAA, as a travel consultant. We rotate Saturday shifts. It wasn't so bad when it was 9-3 but since we've moved in with a car repair facility, the hours are now 7-3. :sad2: The rest of the week I work 9-6.

that sounds like a cool job (apart from the early mornings!! :()

last year i gave out bags of sweets, door magnets and a mickey mouse note block (those things that have sheets of note paper in them, dont know what they're actually called) that i'd printed out a nice picture of the ship on it with our cruise dates on it. they came out really well considering i'm not in the slightest bit creative or arty! i took a photo of them that i swear i uploaded to my laptop but i cant find it now.
in our FE we received:
a DCL postcard with some disney mickey mouse christmas decorations attached,
some salt water taffy and a nice disney luggage tag,
a box of hersheys with a disney new york pin,
a cruise essentials bag (safety pins, band aids, highlighter for the navigators, etc), a cd with cruise related music in, some glow sticks, and a pirate stationary kit.

it was great fun doing it, there was only 5 rooms (including us) participating but it was great coming back to your room to find goodies left for you.
even gary who started off the cruise by kinda humoring me over the FE (he thought it was daft) ended up being the first one back to the room checking our bag (we had a tote bag instead of a proper FE, it worked great) and getting really excited when we had new stuff in it!

i dont mind organising this one too if enough people want to get involved? i made maps of the ship highlighting where people's rooms were, and emailed it to everyone joining in. it really helped me when i was delivering to know that i had a map with exact room locations on it.

(BTW, gary decided to join the disboards last night as he was curious as to how i spent so long on here all the time, so he may be popping by at some point)

It is a pretty cool job. Some days are very slow though so I spend most of my time on the DIS. :rolleyes1 We get pretty good perks. Marriott, Disney, and Universal are very good to us.

I'm in for the FE! It sounds like fun. You're going to have to walk me through it though, haha. Or point me in the direction of a thread that can. I'm a newbie to this DCL stuff! Looks like I have to get creative!

Hello to gary, if he finds us! :wave2:

I started a PTR, if anyone is interested. The link is in my siggy!

I agree, a FE sounds like tons of fun!! It gives me something else to plan. :thumbsup2

That stinks having to work so early on the weekends! During the week, I work 4 10 hour days, so I work 5:30 - 4. Usually, I am off on Fridays, except for every once in a while. A two day weekend seems so short now!!

We had to rip our bathroom down practically to the studs, which was a ton of work!! But the old disgusting tub is out, and my new (regular sized) whirlpool bathtub is in!! I won't be able to use it until probably Tuesday, but just seeing it is so nice!! We have to go to my MILs to shower for now though, which is kind of annoying.

If there are tables for 8, the for of us and our DH/DBFs should all be able to fit, since Mikkel will be with her wedding people. It will be fun to know people!!

the whirlpool bath sounds sooooo nice! i'm sure the inconvenience will be worth it once its all in and ready! you'll be so chilled out that night! :)
i think there are tables for 8, i think the table next to us last time had more people on it than ours, so i presume it was an 8. it sounds like a good idea, at least we'll know the people we'll be sitting with!
i've already started looking for ideas for the FE exchange, i've come up with a list of possible things for my goody bags! i've decided to do a gift bag with loads of little things in! i know we've still got 5 and a half months to go but i'm raring to go and get started shopping for them! but i know i cant really as i dont know how many people are going to be involved yet!

Hi everyone!:wave2: My DH, my 23 year old DD, and a yet to be determined lucky person will be on the September 24th cruise! We recently purchased into the DVC at BLT, and received a cruise voucher as part of the purchasing incentive..so we decided to use the voucher before our first DVC stay. This will be the second DCL trip that my daughter and I have taken and the first ever cruise for my DH. I am hopeful that since I know I am prone to seasickness that this trip will be much better than the last cruise we were on. :thumbsup2

Anyway, got the airfare booked, a rental car booked...now I just have to find out who will be our fourth traveling companion. When I went to use the voucher and book the room, I found out that even if you pay the difference to get a veranda, if you are a party of 3, by default you can only get a Navigators Veranda I initially asked my DBF along, but I have a feeling that she will pass on the offer...my backup cruise mate is a very good friend of the family that lives in Florida...therefore eliminating the need for someone to pay airfare. Thankfully we have lots of time to find our fourth person!

Hope to get to know you all of you as we are all counting down to vacation!

welcome to our friendly little cruise thread! glad we're starting to get more people on here that are on our cruise! the more the merrier!
sorry to hear you had a bad time last cruise with the seasickness, do you suffer badly from it?
i'm sure the others will be along soon to say hi, i'm karen and i'm cruising with my husband gary, it'll be our second cruise and we're really looking forward to it! (technically havent booked our holiday yet as i'm waiting for the free dining promotion to come out tomorrow!)

Jenny, did you see Monsters v Aliens in the end? we went to see it today, thought it was hilarious! lots of in jokes for us big kids! ;)

Welcome to the board.
I am thinking that i saw tables for 8people @least in Tritons but I can't remember it has been 4 years since i went on the crusie last so i am unsure but we can find out. It would be very nice to know the people that you are sitting with. My DFi is kind of shy around new people but with as much as i talk about yall to him he feels that he already knows you lol. I have to start back to class tomorrow so much fun but atleast it is not a really early class i am not exactly a morning person (except for when i am at the World)

Hi right back at you Karen! When my DD, Kelly and I took the Disney Cruise in 2000, I really didn't expect to be seasick at all, at the time we had a speed boat and had that out on the lake all of time and I was never sick. :confused3 I was feeling fine all the way up to our first dinner, and I felt like the room was spinning, so I excused myself and headed back to the stateroom. The funny thing was that I couldn't even walk straight, I felt like the entire ship was rocking back and forth. I tried really hard to sleep and I just couldn't. In the morning when the boat docked in Nassau, I felt great! We went to shop at the straw market, then we headed to Atlantis...had dinner in Animators Palate, all was good until the boat left dock, then I got sick all over again. Finally I broke down and went to the ship's doctor, who gave me some pills and by the time we get to Castaway Cay, I felt fine. Silly me thought I wouldn't need to take the rest of the pills, but I got sick again as soon as the ship headed out to sea.

This time I plan on visiting my family doctor and seeing if I can get some prescription medicine before we get on the ship. Hopefully I will see more of the ship than just my stateroom this time around

oh no! thats not a good way to spend the cruise! hopefully you can get it sorted in advance this time and enjoy your cruise!
i should be able to book our holiday today, i'm not so patiently waiting for the free dining offer to come out and it should be out today! so when i get home it'll be a frantic rush to get everything booked!

The free dining is out, Karen! Does this mean you will be for sure joining us? I'm really glad that we booked our free dining as a bounceback last September, because we also got 30% off of our room rate at Saratoga (it was only for Saratoga & Old Key West), which doesn't appear to be part of the normal free dining plan. So we will be at Saratoga for the week after our cruise. Yea!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!! :cool1:

Karen, the free dining is out! I just got an email about it. I hope that means you'll be on our cruise for definite! And yes, I saw Monsters vs. Aliens last night. It was so cute! I loved BOB. :rotfl: I loved all the Steven Spielberg references too.

Yay! :yay: Another person on our cruise! Welcome! I'm sorry to hear that you got seasick the last time. Hopefully, this cruise will be much, much nicer for you. My name is Jen and I'll be sailing with my DBf Joe. We've been on cruises before but this will be our first DCL cruise!

Mary, I love how we both jumped on here and told Karen about the free dining! Way to look out for our fellow DISers.

It looks like we have a pretty good crew going on this cruise! I have to switch my dining so we can all sit together. That'd be fun! Did anyone figure out how to link our reservations?
