9/10/2012 ~ 6 WONDERful nights ~ VC to L.A.

I know it's early but I've already talked to my employer about vacation time for this date. Still too early to officially book it but I've at least put the idea in place. It shouldn't be any trouble at all.

I'm from the SoCal area and a DL passholder so we'll be heading home after this one. How many of you are going to DL after disembarking?

We are in room 6315 :) Thanks for setting up the fish extenders :woohoo:
gottcha :thumbsup2

I'm thinking about heading to DL for a day or two afterwards. I love the redo on the Haunted Mansion at Halloween!

we're probably going to go to dl for a week or so afterwards. LOL does that sound long? haha all I know is the first time we went for 5 days and it didn't feel long enough, our second was 4 days and we were SO not done yet at 4 days...haha.... Can't wait!! :woohoo: i'm thinking of doing a day or two of chill out to break it up too though. Beach day maybe? or just rent a car and do some sightseeing, since we've never actually been to LA or anywhere else just Disneyland.

Tinkerbell, what do you mean by 'renting' dvc points? How does that work?

My name is Dave and I'm taking the family on the VC to LA cruise! DW, DS (13) and DD (11). This will be our second trip on the Wonder. Can't wait!

I will try to answer this for you. . . When DVC members aren't going to use points that they have that are going to expire, then can "rent" them out to anyone that wants them. So for instance, if I have 100 points I'm not going to use, I may choose to rent them out for $xx, typically $10-$15 per point. The member will make the reservation for you, using his/her points. You pay the member, 100pts x $12 = $1200. Depending on where and when you chose to use the points, you can get a pretty good stay at a DVC resort for a really good rate.

There are stickys on the DIS that will explain this better, and in more detail, but hope that helps and gives you a little idea of what renting points is about.

We've never been to SF, but it seems like there are a ton of things to do there: Alcatraz, Chinatown, Coit Tower, Golden Gate Bridge, trolley cars, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. What else sounds good to do there? We're going to Seattle for a day first, then Vancouver for a day. Anyone know what's good to check out in those cities?

I can't wait for this cruise!!! :thumbsup2

Dave

I really enjoyed the Underground Tour in Seattle. Totally offbeat and cool if you're into history.

On my last cruise I had everyone send me this info

Dis Screenname:
Stateroom # (if known):
Total # of guests:
First name (and ages of children) of each guest:
Special Celebrations:
Email:
Special Issues (allergies, etc...):

After our cut off date I sent everyone a spreadsheet. Will you be doing something like this?

Thanks

I just joined this forum a few days ago, and I'm wondering if anyone is doing FE's? On our last cruise, we did them with a group from DisBoards and my kids had as much fun delivering them as they did receiving them!

Not that I'm excited or anything, but I'm already packed and sitting by the front door. I've been sitting here so long the neighbors thought I was a Jack O Lantern. September??? We have computers that can skip the winter months, right? I mean, if we can stream live sports, why can't we just stream right over to Summer? :)

Also, just FYI, I'll be easy to recognize because I'm the crazy fat bald guy (well, I have some "hairs" left -- like 7) who carries around a backpack full of photo gear. I mention this because I take a lot of pictures and if you get me your email, I'll link you into my server so you can download any you like after the cruise. I can also take pix of your family for you and such, which a lot of people appreciated on our last cruise because the Disney photos, while very good, are $20 each and the price can add up fast! And I use a lot better photo equipment than cast members have, which is why we live in a shack under a bridge with a billy goat and a stick.

Jealous that your doing the B2B I've been toying with the idea not sure yet... Yes if the FE group gets to be too large of a and people want it split up I shall do that, as well I can create a spreadsheet we didn't do that on my last cruise but it wont be hard to throw together I'm sure, also I'll set the cut off date (probably a month out I would assume) closer to the cruising date still have lots of time :thumbsup2

Yup, the FE list is at the top of Page 6, I can add you on if you want as per your previous post for Vancouver I can suggest some things if you want, the first thing I would recommend is Stanley Park and the Aquarium :goodvibes if you want any more info I'd be happy to help

Thank you so much...yes, please add us to the FE list. And thank you for the tips on what to see. We're going to fly up a few days early and do the tourist thing!

Hello All,

I am booked on this cruise as well. Coming with my mother. This will be my 8th DCL cruise, 3rd time on the Wonder. Would also love to the FE with everyone. If anyone is interested, I have a document that I have created for my last few cruises that makes delivering your FE gifts really easy. I am happy to do it again for our group here once we have decided our cut-off date and we are on that home stretch.

Happy to meet everyone!
