She's baacckk....and just a few hundred posts behind.....again... :rotfl:

Hey now, I have only missed a 24 hour period! It's not my fault everyone is so chatty! ;) This will be short lived as the dreaded 3am shutdown will occur VERY shortly.:(

MORNING

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Seven year old boy goes on a Disney cruise for the first time,
On the first afternoon on the ship, he and dad are alone, mum unpacking.

During this quality time together the boy has a question.

Dad, what is it called when two people are in the same bed on top of each other?

Dad a bit surprised by the sons question, goes on to gently explain,
Its called making love and its how babies are made.

He later goes back to the stateroom comes back after that and says,

Dad the thing we were talking about is called bunk beds and mum wants a word with you.

True story?

Sounds like someone could have beniftted from "Naughty Mud Love" (Rasaul)
Less expanation required!

Caroline, if you want to head North and a little East instead of West, I'd be honored to host your family for the night :thumbsup2

:lmao: I think I may need to keep in the same direction to make it on time. But we should have a mini meet some time! Thanks for the offer!:goodvibes

Is anyone as interested as I am in Catagena? One of the problems I have with this absolutely phenomenal cruise is there is not too much in the way of historical sites. Of course, my family is thrilled bcs I am always dragging them agaisnt their will to anything historical I can find - its kind of my hobby.

I was lucky enough to go to London with my mom for a week a few years ago - sheer heaven for me.

My kids did very well at Williamsburg this year - we had a family reunion. It helped that I got my son a pretend musket he could shoot things with, and my daughter got a Colonial outfit for her and her American girl doll. They didn't scream or throw fits like MY SISTER & BROTHERS children.

Years ago, I went to the Mex Riviera, and most of the cathedrals, etc are relatively new - by Mexico standards.

Cartagena looks really good in that aspect - old cathedral, zocolo, fort. Has anyone been there? All I can remember about it is from Romancing the Stone - not good...

I am excited about here too, although not for its history (well, I would have to read up a bit on it, then I might be interested!) Just the fact of visiting a place I would never venture to outside of a cruise makes it exciting for us!

Where did you get yours at?? I would love to see what that looks like....

OK trying this again - hope I dont get kicked off again. Anyway, my bad - DH's costume has the bandoleer belt and sash but I cheated and bought it off where else? Ebay! Can I post the info here? She has included pictures but since I'm not sure on how to link I'll pm you the info.

My costume includes about 5 or 6 items - overall, I liked it. DH's is cool - includes vest, cropped pants, bandoleer belt, sash and shirt. No boots but he jumped when he saw his . Figured since I can't sew a lick - this would be ok - we rented in the past and it always cost us about $150-$200 for a cruise rate since we always had them for at least 3 weeks - and before Halloween - figured might as well own if we're going to pay that much. :confused3 Anyway, if somone knows if I can post the info on my winning auction let me know and I;ll post. Costumes look great and the seller is awesome to work with.

Any Chance you would be driving through Kansas City Missouri?

That's what I am looking for! a mishmash of places DISers live and I can follow my own route! :goodvibes The one thing I really want to see is Mt. Rushmore. Don't ask me why, just on my list.

Hilarious!!!!

Hey Caroline-
I'm just posting a random thought so you can reply in real time!

So...

Why is Goofy (a dog) Mickey's best friend, and Pluto (a dog) Mickey's pet?

Pyramid2000 - we are up in MN!! You can stop at Chicago, Wisconsin Dells, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, etc.

Not to give advice - but my sister gets xanax (SP?) from the doc - just one for the trip and one home...

Flying is yucky - but very convenient...

Now you sound like my husband. Really, I have flown many times. I just swore off of it about 2 years ago. It's not the actual flight that is the problem (ok, it is a part), but the anxiety I get just THINKING about it. Gets worse each time and I have tried just about everything.

For instance, if I told myself that I would be flying to CA, 18 months from now, I would start having dreams about it now!!:sad2:

I very well may fly out there but I can't tell myself that. Plus, I really want to see this beautiful country and what a better time to do that!:thumbsup2

oh my

You could stop by me, but it would be awfully close to your home to already schedule a stop. LOL! I'm near Baltimore, MD.

LOL. I can get there in about 3 hours! When I drive, I like to drive far!;) Thanks for the offer, and I am sure we will have a mini meet at some point with all of these NE DISers.:goodvibes

I can't remember exactly how far to the pier, but it's not bad, I wouldn't change hotels just for that night.

Now I know many people say that the Grand Californian is the best, but honestly I prefer the Disneyland Hotel. It's more Disney than GC and has a great Neverland themed pool.

Keep in mind DL is way different than WDW. You can walk to all hotels and both parks. And staying on property is not as necessary and does not carry the same perks. Unless I get a really great deal onsite, I'm usually staying offsite, right across the street from the main gates.

I stayed at GC last time it had its own DCL check in for looking at docs etc, and coach sevice to port, I might do Disneyland hotel this time will consider later.

Here are a couple of the clues for DS Pirate Party Treasure Hunt (they label each of the cards and they have tWo difficulty levels):

from the easy ones: PIRATE COVE - "for reading and study, I'm a help to you, I'll make things light when the day is through".

The kids need to figure out what it is. For this one, it is a LAMP.

So the kids run to the Lamp and look for another clue.

Next clue, from the harder list: SINGING PARROT - "I'm made of glass, this is true. But when you look, you won't see through. Reflect on this....and you'll find a clue!"

This would be for a MIRROR.

There are 15 easy and 15 hard.

If you guys want, I can post more, without the answers, and when you get it, I can post another.

Cute! I will have to admit I was a bit confused at first thinking that I missed this on the ship!:rotfl:

I think it was at the GC they had the DCL booth set up, where they went over your transfers and I believe they checked over all of our documents. It is probably not so much an issue with the on-line check-in now. But whenever we have stayed at the Hyatt before a cruise DCL always has a fairly time consuming check-in before the buses wisk us away to port. It was nice not to have to go through that in Cal.
Paula

It was very fast at port on arrival

If you're going the "northern route", I assume that's I-80. You'll go right by Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio on Lake Erie. If your kids haven't been there, I'd really try to spend at least a day. It's a great first stop from New Jersey. It's been voted "Best Amusement Park In The World" for 9 years now by Amusement Today Magazine, has 16 roller coasters and close to 70 rides (including a nice area for young kids). Most of the newer coasters have set some kind of record (ie. tallest, fastest), so if you're afraid to fly, might not like these either:lmao: , but I'm sure the kids will love them.

http://www.cedarpoint.com/

Ohio will probably be my first stop since it is a good distance away. I have heard of this place from a fellow Geek cruiser and it sounds great! Now for coasters, only my DH will venture on them, although my oldest DD is finding her way around rides now.:thumbsup2

Comments like these always crack me up, I've been to the US a number of times and I always get comments from people here saying, "aren't you worried about your safety?". So much we see on TV is people being attacked, raped and murder in the US dramas so that's what people think its like.

However they don't bat an eyelid if I go to a developing country as they aren't so known about.

People are funny creatures - they think their home is the safest place to be but stats show you are more likely to be attacked, raped or murdered by someone you know rather than a complete stranger so for everyone's safety we should regularly go somewhere where we don't know anyone - oh and leave your loved ones at home too :rotfl2:

Paula

Good point well made
