Presume it cant be ready for us in August 2008, but we might see building work!

Orange County Register - The Walt Disney Co. is set to announce Wednesday a major expansion of Disney's California Adventure theme park in Anaheim, a Disney official said late Tuesday.

The park opened in 2001 across from Disneyland, where a parking lot used to be. But California Adventure has never been as popular as its classic 52-year-old counterpart.

Bob Iger, Disney's chief executive officer, and other top Disney officials plan to release the details of the expansion, renovation and new rides at a news briefing Wednesday morning at the company's Glendale offices.

A Disney watchdog Web site, MiceAge.com, has reported that the overhaul will cost $1.2 billion, including a lagoon show, a "Little Mermaid" ride and "Ratatouille"-themed roller coaster.

I have been reading about them doing extensive work there. I guess it will give me a reason to go back. Probably a stopover before or after DVC Hawaii in 2011!:woohoo:

You can count me in this little club too Stacey! I have 2 bad knees. One since Jr. High ('70-'73). The left one used to dislocate all the time and the other is bone on bone. Just love the cold and rainy weather...not!

Add me to the group too - diagnosed when I was 4 with arthritis in both knees - one knee tells me when it's going to rain and one when it's going to snow.

The secret Santa sounds great. Count me in.

It really was great to get the latest newsletter. Thanks.

I haven't been on lately so playing ketchup. It has been a tough week. My dad passed away on Sunday and the funeral was today. The board has been a great diversion this week. Something to keep my mind off all that is going on around here. I feel the need to share with all of you fellow cruisers, even if I don't post too often. I usually get on a couple of time a day to read all the posts. (Shh, mostly when I have a lull at work.) I feel I know all of you and look forward to meeting you in person.

Now if I can figure out how to post all those great pictures. I have gotten as far as signing up at Photobucket.

Terri

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad, Terri. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Wow this appears to be a very busy group. I think this cruise is still sold out. Do you all think any spots will open up at a certain point?

Yes, we are a chatty bunch of pirates and wenches! As for openings, my guess is you won't see any until after the 90 day payment mark - May 19th. Rumour has it that DCL oversold this cruise by 30% are waiting to see how things fall at that point. Good luck!

We wanted to do the REAS package for this cruise. We figured we'd have time to relax and use some of the things like the Rainforest Pass, champagne breakfast, etc. Unfortunately, we found out that they don't offer the package on cruises that are longer than 7 nights. So no REAS for the TOAL.

Mike, DOn't worry about the loss of REAS... I'm sure they'd still have some type of rainforest pass and if you want the rose petal turndown...I'm sure one of us pirates could arrange something for each other;)

AS for breakfest, just order room service for the next day.

Cheryl my nephew started it and it has stuck. I tried so hard to get Adam to call my Mom Gramma, but it wasn't happening--she's Memaw!:)

DD always called my mother "mommom". Yet she calls her DGGM "granny" like i do.

You should get a job as a weather girl on tv (you would be more accurate...):lmao:

Well, we are getting off of the ship in Cartagena, so I want to be prepared. :lmao:

My DS gets confirmed next year as well. Our diocese confirms in 8th grade, but our bishop does it in the Spring, so it'll be like May. DS is trying to decide now which saint name to choose.

Cartagena :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Both my DSs are doing first communion this spring. Yay! Suits for semi-formal night! (Yeah, I know where I am going...)

Hi all,

I just wanted to give a big "thank-you" to Tom for the latest edition of the newsletter. I know I don't post much, but I try to read as much as I can and look forward to meeting everyone when we are finally on the ship. One of the reasons I have so little time (in addition to working) is that I am training for my very first full marathon this coming January at WDW. I am in my mid-fifties and overweight, so this is no small endeavor. I have been training since last January and have never worked so hard at anything in my life. I am relatively slow, so training consumes hours and hours each week. I noticed that sk8ingmom's DH is also doing it and wondered if there is anyone else who has signed up for either the Mickey(26.2 mi) or Donald (13.1).

...or the Goofy - 13.1 on Sat. AND 26.2 on Sun.

Oh goody! Mini meet! Where are you staying?
I don't run. I can't run. Running is evil. (see knee/hip post below)
But I'll be there in WISH gear yelling for everyone.

Yes THANKS for news letter.

Have you seen this? one place DCL, will NOT go to in 2009/ 2010/2011/2012.

Yeah, I've been crammed into a 30 year old limo/taxi with 16 strangers in the Bahamas. How about you?

Here you go....

You are too funny Stace!

I wonder if JR has a picture of the plank in the set that had the deck 10 soda machine....:rotfl:

Wait! There's a soda machine at the end of the plank???

Yes, The President said he was very excited to meet the Dalai Lama, since it had been a long time since he had been to a zoo.

He didn't want to panda to the enemy, but it was a strategeric decision, and he's the decider.

That doesn't sound fun Lorri. Does you elbow predict sun?

I only have one knee that predicts the weather. I dislocated it in HS - skated 2.5 minutes on a dislocated kneecap, got the silver medal. Hasn't been the same since and now makes a nifty sandpaper noise when I go down steps.

...and between 20 years of figure skating and a birth defect, I have the hips of an 80 year old woman.

Getting old sucks.

HEY TOM!!! Um I hate to be a pain in the add, but is there a way to access a copy of the newsletter on the website? For some odd reason my email address was listed under my acct. in the website to allshookup@null :confused3. I changed it back to my real email address so hopefully I'll get the next one, but I didn't get the latest edition (I did get the first 2). I'm assuming it's because of the odd email address that was listed?

Not the website e-mail (I use a different list), but apparently Comcast blocked it. I have had several e-mails and pm from people with Comcast e-mails saying they didn't get it.

Anyone else who didn't, pm me or send e-mail, it will go through if I send it one by one.

You should get a job as a weather girl on tv (you would be more accurate...):lmao:

Years ago when I worked for a local tv station the weather girl would on occasion ask me what the knees said and every once in a while she would give the forecast and then say that one of the staff's "knee" agreed and those were the days that she was 100% on the mark ;). Today that weather girl has job on the Weather Channel!

DS calls my mom Nana and my MIL Oma (German for grandma). I called my dad's mom Grandma and my mom's mom Amo (Oma backwards).

We plan on making use of room service for coffee and tea every day of the TOAL - it's a great way to start your day and add some fruit and one of those bakery basket things and you're set until you go to one of the restaurants or perfect for breakfast if you have an early excursion.

Terri--so sorry to hear this news, here are some :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: and :flower3: :flower3: :flower3: coming your way.

I am sure that this thread has already had this conversation, but since I am relatively new here "WOW" 30% seems so high. Hopefully they get the cancellations that they expect, because I definitely plan to be on that ship.

I think everyone should check your signature box, the new rules went into effect today, and I see some of you have been cut off at the bottom of your siggie. If you don't know what is going on, take a peek over on the tech board.

Or, click on this link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1610271
