I guess that means I win! No lie, dr yesterday says that everything I am explaining to him about my foot points to gout. Tells me to watch my diet and quit eating red meat and drinking beer - are you kidding me? I eat red meat once in a blue moon and I never drink beer. Needless to say I was upset, he gave me some cortisone and did a blood test. I am awaiting results of the blood work and I am still in a lot of pain.

The doc had no sympathy for me whatesoever and I was bawling because one I was in immense pain and two he told me that basically I should give up my running because running will aggravate my foot - he stood there and looked at me bawling like a man does when he doesn't know what to do with a girl crying - no words of encouragement, nothing.

I hope he is right; that it is a Gout flare up because he tells me I should be walking on it and honestly it hurts too bad to walk on it at this point. I give the cortisone a day to work and we will see how it is. By Monday if I am not better I will be seeing another doctor. I just hope I am not doing more damage to my foot by trying to walk on it.:sad2:

Anyways..........what do I win again????

Sorry to hear that, they do say that gout can be very painful. I don't blame you for seeking another opinion. :flower3:

Ah, yes....my Megan was about four years old when she was being naughty and stuck her tongue out at me. I told her not to stick her tongue out at me and she replied that she wasn't...said she was "just tasting the air"!!

Kids say the darndest things.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am posting here only now and after this cruise, I will be stopping the Dis-boards.:sad1:

Andrew, sorry to hear that. I really hope you don't let a few nasty folks ruin your dising.:sad2: Give the other boards a break for a bit. But I come to the boards for fun and there are places I don't spend any time.:flower3:

Hi, thanks for that, I am taking a rest form the main cruise forum, as its rising my Blood pressure a bit, but will still come here and UK Dis.

I have to agree with you, Andrew. That last comment was completely unnecessary. Don't give it another thought. We really appreciate your experience and wit! :grouphug:

I agree too. That comment wasn't appropriate.

DH thinks he will be going on the cruise.. earlier this week, he had talked with his aunt sophie and reported back that she would only watch the boys 1/2 the time.. so we needed to get someone else for the other 1/2.. well I told him that I have asked everyone.. and no takers..

So.. he was okay.. no problem.. and I said .. Shall i tell Sally that she is going not you?? He was WHAT??? Well the deal all along has been that I was going and he was my first choice  but if he couldn't them Sally would.. He never thought I was serious and that I would just cancel the trip.. So after thinking about it some more.. He talked with Aunt Sophie and she is in for the whole time and DH is going on the trip.. YEAH!!!!

On another note... my older daughter came home yesterday from her Brownie meeting complaining of being sleepy tired and low in energy. It turns out she had a fever of about 103 last nite and 105 this morning. We kept her home and I'm hoverin' over her with chicken noodle soup, grapes, Asian pears and childrens' Advil. I also moved a little TV and DVD player into her bunk bed where shes' camped out now. She's hovering around 100-101 now... so the medication is just keeping it under control now - or so it seems. And if this persists into tomorrow morning then she will miss the visit to the Easter Events at the Reagan Library - and a birthday party in the afternoon. However, it is best for all considered if she stays home if she has any symptoms tomorrow morning.... right?

So this means I'm likely to be at chat tonite.

Hope she gets to feeling better Tom.:)

okay everyone..........just got off the phone with the wonderful orthopedic - its definitely NOT gout. Basically dismissed me and told me to try and walk on my foot even if it is painful, I have a boot on and will protect my foot - ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Never once did he mention that I should be resting, or elevating it. ITS SWOLLEN and RED - HELLO! I am not a doctor and know these things. The cortisone is taking some of the pain away but not enough. At any rate, I have an appt tomorrow with another doctor, I had all my info faxed to him and he is willing to see me on a saturday which tells me he must be a caring individual. Thanks for all your prayers and hugs, they are appreciated.

Let us know what he says:goodvibes

Evening

We are under a tornado warning in all of Central Florida.. until 2 in the morning.:scared: :scared: and of course I am all by myself :scared:

Hope all our Florida friends stay safe:)

We have bad storms coming on Sunday night Monday morning, severe weather warnings being broadcast for very strong gales etc, (for us), thats 80mph+.

Thanks for rubbing it in Roger. Looks like we will end up with 12-16". Alan and Adam are out plowing.

We are getting hit hard too, Paula. We are in for the day...the whole City has been cancelled.

... gee wiz... I don't get it with Omar's spring collection ??? I googled it and come up empty handed? I must not be the only one confused here on this?

15 days of cruise food. We're all ordering formalwear from Omar the Tentmaker, i.e. clothing roughly the size of a tent.

I alluded to this in chat last night...feel free to skip this post...

RANT WARNING

Well, so far DH and I (maybe) are going on TOAL. The kids, notsomuch. I now know why Passports are being processed so fast. NO ONE IS PAYING ANY FREEKING ATTENTION.

Here is our story:
Some of you may remember that I was all excited last spring when it looked like we would need Passports to leave Alaska (we had to drive through Canada), and the CG was going to have to get them for us. Well, the kids and I got our no-cost-to-us passports – mine came in hours before we left – BUT there was an endorsement on page 27 that made them only valid when traveling with a military member on orders. OK, so much for free passports, now we have to do the whole process again.

So here we go again. I went to the web site, answered the questions and the web site spit out a no-fee-passport renewal form. Sweet. Although I wasn’t holding my breath on the free part. We went to an office that was open on Saturday and the guy looked at me like I had 9 heads. He said I must have checked the wrong box somewhere. I checked everything about 9 times, but OK. Of course no one in the government is answering the phone on Saturday, so we would have to come back during the week. “Anytime between 12 & 4.” Oh so convenient for working families. We insisted on signing all the forms (literally every version of the passport application!) in front of him while we were all there, so DH could take a day of leave and go back to the post office by himself. The post office guy was actually quite nice and wanted to help us.

So, DH goes back, they get someone on the phone who tell him that we used the wrong application. Uhhh, it’s the application that your web site filled in for us based on the information we supplied…but OK. We started all over again, filled out more forms, wrote a check, and sent everything in.

DH had an expired regular tourist passport, so his was no problem and showed up in a week. 2 weeks later (yesterday) here is what arrives in the mail:
A new passport for me – only the Endorsement section says: See Page 27. On my old passport, page 27 said something like “only valid when traveling with active duty military member on orders.” Well, page 27 of my new passport is blank. So I can’t wait for the hassle that is going to cause!

For the kids, we got their old passports back with a letter stating that they are too far away from the expiration date (2012) to renew them. Ummm, we aren’t renewing these passports, that’s why we had to fill out (and pay for) an application for a new passport. The best part…no birth certificates! They not only cashed our check, but kept the kids birth certificates! DH called “customer no service” as Clark Howard would say and got the run around. We have to apply again…using the same forms we just used…and we have to pay again…and apply for a refund that we may or may not get from the first time…and of course the $25/per fee we paid at the post office is not refundable since they did their part…AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!

So basically we have to do the exact same thing we just did and hope for a different result...and pay for it!

We are going to get back on the phone before we do any of this, but regardless, this whole thing is ridiculous.

OK rant over, thanks for listening, carry on.

:furious: Oh man, that stinks!!!! :furious:

You can rant to me all you want....I can relate (to a degree)....Although, I still have hopes that dd8's passport will show up somewhere!

This is what happened to her's....

We all applied for them together, and about 3 1/2 weeks later mine, dh's, and ds's all show up. None for dd. So, we just assume it will be coming in a couple days. A few days later our 3 birth certificates show up....none for dd. Wait, wait, wait....so finally a couple of days ago (approx 2 weeks after ours showed up) we call all over to try to track it down. Finally talk to someone at the passport office, and she says it was addressed to "XXX Collins Way". Well, that is not even close to our address, in fact we have no street of that name in our zip code! So, again....someone was not paying attention. So, she tells us it should have been sent back to them, but it hasn't shown up yet. Nor has her birth certificate. So, we will wait a little while longer, but we may have to order a new birth certificate for her, wait for that to come in, and then have to order a new passport as well. UGH!

This stinks M. Sounds like you have fallen into a government black hole. Good luck finding the one person in the State Dept that can straighten this out for you. I did find this if the red tape gets too thick.

Free U.S. Passports from Nassau Paradise Island?
This is weird. The Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board will issue rebates for the cost of new US Passports for your entire family (4 per room), providing you stay for 2 days at one of 19 participating hotels. The deal comes as new regulations are requiring US travelers to show a US passport to travel to and from the Bahamas.

They also have a website set up providing helpful tips on applying for your passport. We suppose if you're going there anyway, you might as well get a free passport. That sounds so strange, doesn't it? Free passports, get your free passports.—MEGHANN MARCO
