I went shopping with my DD yesterday and I bought a dress for the cruise. I tried to see if I could find a picture of the dress on the internet, but no luck. I also bought my DD a dress. I tried mine on last night and I think that I will splurge for a pair of those miracle working spanx.
I am still trying to figure out the Tux situation for my DH and DS. Has anyone ever rented one through DCL? Is it better to buy one instead? I would really like to limit the amount of luggage, so if renting is a okay then this would be my preference. Does anyone know the cost of renting?

Happy Birthday Andy (goofyforgoofy - DH of goofyforlife)

hmm It's the opposite at my table. I have the waiters bring me a kid menu too every night as i would rather have some of the stuff from there.

I am weird :upsidedow that way and usually will ask for a couple substitutions on an adult meal.

I love Mickey shaped pasta lightly buttered and cheese sticks and sometimes would just rather have the fruit cocktail.

Well that sounds like a good idea - anyone have a copy of any of the children's menu's. Sometimes find the adult meals very bland and did not realise you could order from the children's one. Will definitely join you in giving this a go.

Not sure if the rate is higher for the double length cruise, but the DCL rental company can be found here. With shoes $105.

If you shop discount mens wear, for not much more you may be able to buy tux and shoes.

If they double fee due to length of cruise.... may be best to buy (except for kids growing....)

Wow disappear for a few weeks and everything changes. Had a busy January and then my computer had to go in for repairs and we brought it home last night. Logged in and had a moment of panic. I always do when something that I don't expect appears on the screen. At least I was able to find the new thread and get through these 21 pages. So I'm a caught up as I'm going to be.
Barbara

Barbara they have been running quite a few commercials here for the Villages. I always think of you when I see it. :)

QUICK QUICK - a tink-sized bottle of Patron Silver for the first one to get me a picture of M in this - ON THE ZIP! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Don't forget the camera. I'm SERIOUSLY considering taking a small printer so that I can print pictures to post all over the ship of this! :rotfl: ;)

Of course, there are a few in this group that are tight with some of the cruise directors and a few who are pretty good at computer skills... so we can either hack in or get the CD to post the pics on all the monitors on the ship (and jumbo tron between movies?)

:lmao:
You guys are funny. I think I will have to opt for the Tink shirt and kid's wings, though.

A costume covered in lightbulbs is a packing challenge that I'm just not ready for.

I loved the waitstaff we had on our cruise! My DS10 can be a picky eater and they were determined to find him something he liked. Finally settled on the broiled chicken, which they had prepared even when it wasn't on the menu.

Our waiter always managed to come up with a plain tossed salad with ranch dressing for DS9 every night. I think they had to run up to Topsiders for it. DS9 LOVES tossed salad with ranch.

He can dine with my DS7. His meal request for his birthday since he turned 5has been clam chowder and roasted acorn squash. Four was "roast beef chicken". It took me about a week to figure out what he wanted! He turned 4 two months after our first DCL & he had eaten the adult menu roasted chicken several times - roast beef chicken!.

It is frustrating trying to figure out what they mean sometimes. :goodvibes

Wow, we can even get Aeros here in NZ, now Reeces Peanut Buttercups we can't get ;)

It is a tossup between Snickers and Reese Cups what is the best seller at my store. And I keep a stash of Reese Cups in my office for when I need a little pick me up.

Put up some "Get well soon" cards and any visitors will then think you've been too ill to clean... sounds like a fine plan to me :rotfl2:

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I'll have to use that sometime.:goodvibes

I think it was 7 rooms. I wonder if we can get everyone's attention and find out for sure??

Hello? Calling all Doubletree pre-cruisers!!

We need a head count!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
That might get their attention.......;)

We are in for one, Stacey. Don't know how long it takes to get to the port, but DH is landing at Long beach @ 10:30AM

I just booked a cruise on RCCLs Explorer of the Seas for next April vacation out of Bayonne, NJ! $4500 for 9 nts in a balcony cabin going to Puerto Rico, Domican, St. Thomas & Haiti & we don't have to fly! :woohoo:

:cool1: Yeah to booking cruises that don't require airfare :cool1:

Happy Birthday Alan/DH PBader!!!

Other cruise lines allow you to book as soon as you are paid in full, and Norwegian allows you to book at any time after the intial deposit.
I think DCL should let people book excursions and such as soon as you are paid in full. DCL's method of 90 days for repeaters, etc is awful. They DO know that this board, and others like it exist, and they DO know that they are going to get flooded....and they DO have the money to make a change in their system. There's no excuse for it.

Oops....off my soapbox now.

I agree...they really need to stagger the traffic on the website because it just can't handle it. I think their thinking is they are going to sell out all bookings for excursions & Palo even if the website crashes so there is no incentive to improve the procedure.

You know what the problem with this is?? The model doesn't NEED spanx. It lulls us "Pooh size" people into a false sense of security.

I get the 'ole "muffin top" when I try to wear those things

My DH was suppose to take DD to the annual Father/Daughter Valentines dance last night, but DD decided at the last minute that the dance is lame now (ST!) & she'd rather just go have dinner with her Dad. I think DH was a little sad that DD is growing up sooooo fast, but they still had a nice dinner together. She was especially thrilled that Dad got her a new cell phone with all the bells & whistles she's been begging for.

Awww, what a dissapointment. After we split up, Julia found the Verizon store and proceeded to beg for a phone (again). UM, I think Dad already said no, but nice try

It's a girl!
:cutie: :lovestruc :cutie:

Thanks for the link Tom. I called and they told me that the price on the website is valid for all cruise lengths. They did warn me that with childrens tuxes the sizing information is very important because they do not carry extra inventory on board.

good evening everyone! the laundry fairy...aka: me....has done her work here. of course, she skipped out completely last week. made for a very loooong weekend of laundry! i'm glad i'm a shopaholic, and the kids had more than enough clothes to get thru the last week, but i can not let myself skip laundry ever again! yuck!!
i'm starting to look for clothes that i can get now for the cruise. what was the verdict on the tux issue? do the guys have to wear tuxes on formal? or do some just wear a suit and tie? what are your kids doing? my boys will be ages 5 and 10....should i get tuxes?? dd is of course gonna wear a pretty dress...she is very easy to shop for. myself, i'm still not sure what i'll take. i really am trying to figure out the boys first.

I am sure that will be lots of men and boys with sportcoats instead of tuxes. We are renting them for the cruise to save luggage space.:)

I am not sure about the tux....someone from the last repo said they charged for the one week price. I will be renting one for DH so will keep you posted.

The packet we were sent has the tux form with the same prices as the 7-day. Classic black tux package is $95.

These were from the Westbound folk, who were very helpful

As many of you know, my dream WDW job is Tinkerbell. I want to fly to Tomorrowland during Wishes every night in a light-up costume! (2nd choice is the spinny bird lady in Festival of the Lion King)

I was crushed a few years ago when I found out that the height requirement was 5'1" - I'm 5'2".

Anyway - you folks on the 1pm PV zip line are in for a treat. Just wait until I show up in a glowing ferry outfit! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Seriously, I am definately getting a Tink tank top for the occasion and DH is threatening to buy me the wings they sell for the little girl costume. :rotfl:

Hmmm, now where did I put my wand....

This is Elizabeth's dream job too. And she is 5'1" exactly. She has no fear and would love to be able to be Tink someday.

I'll have to read over there about the nightmare booking issues. I think they have really been way more chatty lately. But they are much closer to sailaway than we are:)

So glad that is Mark's job!!

Put up some "Get well soon" cards and any visitors will then think you've been too ill to clean... sounds like a fine plan to me :rotfl2:

OMGosh:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I never thought of that. I do know you are only suppose to clean as high as your tallest visitor. :lmao:

Someone on my last cruise found the link for me. Max size for flying Tink is 5'1" and 110 lbs. The parade Tink is even smaller - I've never seen Tink in a parade, but I think I heard she's in the pirate and princess parade :confused3

I'm getting personlized plates for my Mustang. I wanted TINK ISH, but I'm limited to 6 letters. Can't decide between TINK SH and TNK ISH. From the Tink magnet on my car it would be pretty obviously that the plate means Tink, not tank!
