They did that to my mom not long after 9/11. We were flying down to WDW that December and my mom came with us - she was the only one picked from our party to go through it and believe me when I tell you they went through EVERYTHING! The took her to a sectioned off area, did a full body wand, pat down and then went through all her carry-on items. It must of taken them about 15 mintues for the whole procedure.

We also got selected when we traveled to the US just after 9/11 (3 weeks later). We thought it was because their geography was poor and they thought New Zealand was just south of Iraq.

Either that or they still were holding a personal grudge against the NZ government not permitting nuclear powered ships into our harbours - either way, we kept those thoughts to ourselves.... some people have no sense of humour. :rotfl2:

And last time I went to the UK, I got the 3rd degree - they wanted to know why I wasn't travelling on a UK passport seeing I was born there. No friendly "welcome home" there...

I hate when I do this..I accidently clicked on the kid's thread (I skim..didn't read in full) and couldn't figure out the "new" user names and why they all sounded like teenagers in thier posting.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Although....where I went in...someone thinks the DQ is unsupervised...hope they aren't disappointed...kids..gotta love em!
I did that once and was rather frightened! :scared1:

I thought you would all get a kick out of this wording

MY 15yo DD is coming on the trip... (canterqueen8)

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! She doesn't know yet...

Oh BIP.... Ruby has a buddy to hang with (i mean takeover the ship with) ....:rolleyes1
those 14 and 15yo's are going to take over! :scared:

I seriously don't know what you're talking about. I'm gonna pm you because I think you may think I'm joking around when i'm not- I'm serious!

I'm not worried about other thinks about how I look- if I was... I'd skip dinner every night. LOL I just didn't know if I should "not participate" in this princess thing if I don't have a princess type dress... is all. Do princesses wear black dresses that aren't formal length? Well this one might... LOL

Thanks!

Awesome!!!

Thanks for the reassurance. I was just thinking about the night when everyone (atleast those participating on this cruise) is wearing super formal dresses, gloves- the works.... if I'd stick out like a sore thumb. LOL

Alrighty then. :)

Okay. I'm totally lost on what he's talking about but this isn't the first time he's mentioned it- he's mentioned it many times and I haven't a clue what he's talking about. Seriously!

I'm not talking about dinner! I'm talking about the princess night and ballroom under the stars where everyone is talking about wearing very formal gowns, gloves, and tiaras... :rotfl:
I think princesses can wear whatever they want! I have 1 formal and 1 semiformal, but I won't be wearing gloves and a tiara.
ON MSN today:

Charging for checked luggage and legroom isn’t enough for some carriers — starting today (Aug. 1), coach passengers flying aboard US Airways Inc. must pay for a drink of water.

This morning, US Airways began charging fliers $2 for bottled water and sodas and $1 for teas and coffees. First class members, trans-Atlantic passengers and a select group of others are exempt from the extra fees.

Soon we will be charged if we want to use the bathrooms...
Kathryn is going to be in big trouble if they ever do that! Checking out bathrooms and reporting on them is a very big part of her life!

Sunscreen rule of thumb:

1 oz per person initially with reapplying needed after excessive sweat (we'll have that) or swimming. So an 8 oz container of sunscreen that would ideally only last 4 days for 1 person.
I have 10 bottles of the spray Neutrogena sunscreen already ready but will probablly get more before we go.
I needed a math warning for this!

DD27 and her boyfriend came over for dinner last night and broke the news. They have finally set a date for their wedding. They have been together for a few years and have been talking marriage but had not set a date. They are getting married on July 11, 09. They said I could give them a Disney Cruise for their honeymoon. :rotfl2: He is a great guy and is very good with her son. I will have to find something special for them on this cruise.

This is not her ring, but I didn't want to be outdone by Crash now that I have learned how to post a picture.:rotfl:

It was also good news after DH told me the fan on the air conditioner compressor broke and would have to be replaced. Fortunately he is in the home building business and their HVAC guy found a replacement and is going to put it in for us.

Congratulations on the engagement!

Tonight is the Twilight party and DD is excited to go to the party and get her new book. I wonder if she will have it finished before the trip???;)

17dd and a couple of her friends are going to the one at our nearest B & N -- it's a vampire prom theme. ;) Oldest dd (almost 25) wanted to go with them. ;) So, she came over to help them with hair & make up.

Does anyone know what restaurants are in the Ports of Call at San Pedro? I have some relatives that would like to come down and see the ship off. I told them that I know there are restuarants there...Anyone know?

PM Roger, he either posted it on the pirate zone boards or blogged on it

Alana is so excited for tonight! We got her hair trimmed today and the stylist put her hair up in a roll thingy on the back of her head! Didn't even charge us for that! I painted her nails too. Ours is prom theme too. We're taking her best friend. I'll just be happy hanging out at B&N for a couple hours! Have a Starbucks, pastry and book and I'm set!

Someone please tell me to stop buying dresses. It is tax free weekend in TN and I bought four more! I actually bought one and took it back before I even left the mall because I convinced myself I'd never wear it again. However, I couldn't do the same with the others.... ughh. I bought DH a beautiful pasta pot at Williams Sonoma so that I wouldn't feel so bad buying so much for myself :)

Bizzare packing question...

How do you figure how much toiletries to bring?
Like the basic stuff...shampoo/conditioner,deoderant ,toothpaste?

chrissie

Probably too late now to use my method but I save ends of tubes, bottles and take them away with me - throw them when I'm done or if I need the space coming home. I don't worry if I run out either - there is always somewhere to buy this stuff...

Not as long as we pack enough duct tape!!!

I hope you all had a great day. I hope to make some headway this weekend on getting stuff together to pack.

Any patch participants who have not PMed me, please check your PM box and send me a response. I need to know how many patches you are bringing to swap.

I do not have gloves or a tiara to go with my short dress for Princess night. I might try to find a tiara. But I am still not very mobile. I would also like Mouse ears for Mouseketeer night, I have never had a set of Mouse ears.

Stop buying dresses!!!!!

I'm lucky, I'll miss tax free weekend here in NY - I'll be on the TOAL:cool1:

That would be a really good idea...if you haven't thought of it already. :) It should be someone who will be at the first stop who has a list of everyone who is supposed to get on their bus and also a list of the hotels they need to stop at. I know that there are only two families at our hotel and I really wouldn't want to be left behind. pirate:

I don't think we need to be overly OCP'ers. The bus company has the list of hotels & the number of passengers for each hotel - everyone has been sent a pm about the buses arriving at 8:30am. The buses will go to each hotel. Everyone is an experienced traveler/adult. When one books a shuttle for pick-up at a hotel - one just is outside w/luggage awaiting the shuttle (or in this case the Coach Skyline bus) to arrive.

I honestly believe that everyone can take responsibility to be outside the hotel w/luggage and get on the bus.

BTW - I spoke at length w/the bus company rep today - and there are 4 buses - there is no "1st stop" per se.

Please just relax - be ready to be picked up at 8:30 - and when you see the beautiful Coach Skyline bus pull up - you'll be ready to be transported to the Port and the TOAL!!!!!!!

Thanks Chris :goodvibes

Iwas wondering if we should order some flats of water to the hotels. I think you said the delivery was between $4- $8 for delivery. Wonder if we get a commitment for the water from each hotel we can eliminate the rush on Sunday at least with this. Just a thought.

oh, sorry for the confusion. This is something I have planned with DD that day, so I was just commenting on how busy that day is getting for us. Not as a group...:thumbsup2
oohh gotcha :)

I really appreciate that but we have all booked the VIP tour. I figured that this is the one and only time we will get to CA for a very long time and I don't want to stand in lines all day. It includes vallet parking, breakfast & lunch in their VIP lounge, a 3 hour tour private tour of the backlots including prop warehouses & other things not on the regular backlot tour, transportation in our own tram :), 3 hours of being escorted to the front of the line for all the rides. We will get lanyards that we can use to do the FOL stuff after the tour is over and I plan to use those to see the shows (front row reserved seating). The kids are all excited. Why? Because Todd's son and my kids are bringing their DS lites and they will be able to prochat while we are going around on the tour. :rolleyes1
LOL
Sounds like something my kids would do/be excited about.....

It's the wave of the future.
- Charges for not sitting next to a whining baby
- Magazines
- Air
- Premium for ontime arrival.
- Premium for having your baggage arrive.
- Charge for a sober pilot.

Sigh.....
If they start charging for air or sober pilot- I'm not flying anymore. LOL

Same response for this. Who cares?
It was more of a question of should I participate if I don't have the full length gown...... or is it okay that I won't be "like everyone else". Yanno?

Bit of bad news regarding the price of tickets at WDW.

Looks like it is again creeping up.
ack! Figures..although I would have rathered they went up in Jan so I could beef up on 10 day park hoppers (for the future) after we regroup on finances after this cruise! OHwell.....

You can get a tiara at claires- if you have one near you- for $5. I did. Go get one- we can be twins..... short dresses and tiaras. LOL
I wish I had mouse ears for mousketeer night too!
