Congrats Shannon and the family on your addition! Hope you are feeling wonderful by cruise time.

Happy Birthday Cheryl!

I heard on the news today that Delta is now going to start charging $50 bucks for a 2nd checked bag....that is so messed up!

Of course, we are flying Delta home from MCO! Just more stress trying to figure out all the packing for a family of 6! I still have not received any "grandfathering" letter from Delta or our TA who booked our flight, so I have no idea what or if we will have to pay. Just ticks me off, all these additional fee's!

There is information on Delta's website about the 2nd bag and who is eligible for rebates.

http://www.delta.com/traveling_checkin/baggage/baggage_allowance/second_bag_fee/index.jsp

We are coming home on Delta too and I have printed that information

Delta won't give me a Grandfathering letter but our printout of our online ressie says April 9 and the deadline was April 3rd so I am hoping for the best. we still aren't sure if DH is bringing back 1 or 2 suitcases.

pirate: 'ing - Celebrating on the TOAL is a great plan!!

 One more thing off of my list..DD Friday school teacher just called and gave me the name of the book they will be using for the year..so I ordered it and it will be here on Friday!

My goal today is to reprint my VR magnet with the correct date (and DCL still hasn't responded to my letter - I didn't ask for anything but an answer on what I wasn't advised) and start cutting the magnets to size.

I need to stop by Office Depot today and get sharpie markers to put with DD shirt for the characters signing and a couple of highlighters for us.

We will be off to the Farmer's Market later this afternoon.

I changed the cover on my bed. I bought this on ebay when in Chicago, got it cleaned and has been put away ever since. Now I am getting excited. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Wow that looks awesome Tina! I bought an AKL bedspread a while back, but I'm waiting for my room to be painted, etc. before I put it on my bed.

I love reading all the "Brush with Greatness" stories! Didn't realize what prestigious company I was sailing with!!! pirate:

Off to do some shopping. I still have to get DD & DS some decent clothes for dinner. All DD wears is denim capris & T-***** & DS wears cotton shorts & T-*****. This should be fun!

Bip (and anyone else doing Sea Life Park in PV)...did you see that the water slides at Sea Life Park are currently closed for maintenance? From their website..."We would like to inform our guests that as of July 21st and until further notice, the Sea Life Park Vallarta Aquatic Area will remain closed due to jobs maintenance. Only the dolphinarium will be open and operating on regular basis to offer the Swimming with Dolphins programs that you have reserved or would want to reserve for those dates."

I had made our reservation via phone so I called to get clarification on the dates. Basically, right now they don't know when the slides will be operational again. They may be operating when we're there, but they may not be. The lady I spoke to did say that the dolphin programs would continue, and that the lazy river and the child's play area (I'm thinking the toddler area?) are also open.

I know that those of you who booked Sea Life over DCL are still saving a lot of money. I am very disappointed, though, because the slides were a big reason that I booked the Dolphin Encounter in the first place. We hadn't planned a dolphin excursion with DCL but when I saw the photos from Sea Life park (and the slides!), I booked one because I knew that my kids would have a blast at the water park. I'll just continue to hope that they get them up and running before we get there. I can't imagine being there and the kids seeing the slides but then not being allowed to go on them! :sad2:

I have a friend who used to be a producer for Law & Order CI and some of the stories she used to tell about Vincent D'Onofrio and his temper were outrageous.

I met Jesse Martin and Jerry Orbach when they were filming Law & Order about a block away from where I work. I also met George Clooney when he was filming One Fine Day. He was just so, so nice and damn but he was just as good looking in person. Michelle Pfeiffer was there too but she was sitting off in a corner and refused to talk to anyone. I also saw JFK Jr. a few times on the street. My favorite celeb encounter was when I was a teenager and I ran into Barry Williams and got his autograph. Ahhhh, Greg Brady. My girlfriend and I were just swooning, lol.

You're lucky! I've been to NYC how many times and never met anyone famous there!

Slash from Guns & Roses was on our DCL cruise in 2006 (my sister had a small, no so nice encounter with him, my father had a small, unpleasant encounter with his inappropriately dressed wife), and one of the guys from Boys II Men was on that cruise too.

Hmmm - all my "famous" people are figure skaters, hockey players, and politicians (including the newly indicted "Uncle" Ted Stevens).

I did chat with David Gregory in a press pool once. Nice guy. He's about 8 feet tall.

DH has met 2 Presidents (Ford & Bush 41).

The Port Canaveral Authority has chosen CH2M Hill to oversee the modification of the Disney Cruise Line terminal.

The expansion, slated for completion on October 1, 2010, will allow the two new Disney ships access to the Port. The ships, currently being built in Germany, will be substantially larger than Disney's existing fleet.

The contract between CH2M Hill and Port Canaveral is still under negotiation.

Just saw this on the DIS news page. This is my company (we are employee owned so it IS my company). And the guy who is in charge of ports for the Southeast used to work in my office. Maybe I can transfer to the Port Canaveral office.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I hadn't even heard it through the company grapevine yet...I had to read it on the DIS board.:confused3
My husband also works for CH2M Hill and we are going on the cruise, are you?

I know that we are excited about what CH2M Hill is doing, So awesome..

Take care and talk with you soon,

It was right after one so that may have been it....

I forgot my "big" brush with celebrity-dom...when I worked at Knott's Scary Farm..I was asked to escort a celeb thru the exit and on to the ride...I met his family as the gate and had no idea who it was...as I went back on stage to scare people..a fellow creature stopped me and said "I can't believe you just met Alice Cooper!" I knew Alice Cooper was..but since he wasn't in make-up..I didn't recognize him.

Let's see..I kinda saw Eddie Murphy when he filmed Beverly Hills Cop at my Dad's work (he wouldn't sign autographs)..and I had already posted about my meeting with Donny Osmond at a concert.

And my favorite..when I was a teenager..my Dad used to take me to Dodger games...we arrived really early once and as my Dad went off to get us some food..I sat in my seat. There was a guy next to me in a Dodger jacket and sat there and talked to me about baseball and such... finally..he got up and said "well..it's time to get warmed up"...walked down a few rows..jumped up on the top of the dugout and jumped down..I had been sitting with Mike Scioscia. He was the catcher for the Dodgers and is now the Manager for the Angels. I just remember him being really nice and just taking in the field before the game.

You're lucky! I've been to NYC how many times and never met anyone famous there!

I once almost bumped into Richard Dreyfus on Broadway (literally bumped into him - you know how crowded those streets get).
Briefly Met Walter Koenig (Chekov) from Star Trek & John Stewart. Shook hands with President Clinton.

Actually my greatest "brush" with fame was not meeting a particular individual. I had the good fortune (after a long wait in line) to be in the gallary during part of the final day of Clinton's impeachment trial (saw the dismissal of the 2nd charge and the closing). That was a trip....

Brush with fame - have a friend who was on the Sopranos for 4 years and did some Law & Order episodes too. He was also in American Gangster with Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe. DH catered for some famous names when he was catering one was Bon Jovi and family. We have run into Geraldo Rivera at restaurants near where he lives. Met some Food Network starts at national food shows, DH is in the food industry if you couldn't tell. When I was with a local travel agency I worked with David Bryan's (Bon Jovi) mom.

Way back when I met Christopher Atkin (Blue Lagoon)
Brooke Shields - met her at a college party, she was in a lot of the same classes as a friend while they were at Princeton

In the late 80's I met a lot of the hockey players from the NY Rangers - went to a lot of games back then. A few friends and I were invited to a couple of their parties, I had gotten friendly with a friend of one of the players.

Tina that's so cute! I had thought about bidding on one of the blue ones a few times.

Given the Disney/ABC relationship, will DCL carry the Olympics on their TVs since its on NBC and its related channels?

Johnny Depp touched my cell phone while he said "Hi Girls" to my friends who couldn't make it to the AWE red carpet.

Met Marty Klebba at a POTC fan event. Chatted with him about his mini chopper motorcycle.

Gotten several soap star autographs at the soap weekends they used to do at California Adventure. DS even ended up with his picture in a soap magazine. The star (Kiko Ellsworth) he met took a liking to him and was chatting it up quite a bit with us. The photographers caught on and took their pic. Kiko even acknowledged us every time he saw us in the park the rest of the day.

Desiree - I may have been there the day Walt Wiley ran down your DH. We saw him several times in the park a day or two after one of the soap weekends.

DS got to 'sing' on stage with Third Day -they let all their fans in orange shirts come on stage. He also ran into the drummer, Dave, before the concert but was too star struck to say anything. We've been through the "Meet and Greet" line with these guys 3 or 4 times. Hoping for another in October.

While working for United I checked in Tom Jones (It's not unusual to be loved by you....) but didn't realize who he was. After he boarded my buddy came over singing to me and I couldn't figure out why.

Working outside with the small commuter planes I got a request to hold the plane for a passenger. Held it for 20 minutes and David Carridine came stumbling on. Seriously he was so drunk I don't know how they let him fly.

So with all these mini encounters, DS is still mad that I can't figure out how to get him to meet Miley Cyrus.

Brush with Fame!!
I got to kiss James Darren (moondoggy from Gidget). :cloud9: Chill Wills came up to me on broadway and said I look pretty and walked away. :thumbsup2 Also met Walter Payton from Da Bears!!! He truly was a great person.:flower3: :woohoo: :woohoo:
