Congratulations, Shannon and DH. All the best.:cool1:

Oh! Thought of another "famous" person - only Jimmy Buffett fans are likely to get this - DH and I had a beer with Captain Tony one night in Key West. We met him a few times, but one night we just sat at the bar and chatted with him for about an hour.

:thumbsup2 I just had to retire my Capt'n Tony polo shirt, but when we called into KW on the Magic last Oct, I picked up a long sleeve button down :-)

My only brush with fame is that Martina McBride is married to my second cousin. She let me interview her for my college paper once. It was Halloween, so we took her and her 2 girls trick-or-treating and then a friend and I went to her concert. :)

:wizard: Love the DIsney bedroom!!:wizard:

Brush with fame: nothing big, but in a past job I spoke on the phone with: Bruce Willis (awesome phone voice), Marlon Brando, Ben and Jerry (ice cream guys), Indigo Girls, members of Grateful Dead, others I can't remember... I got to meet: Michael Stipe, Mitch Snyder (homeless advocate), Ralph Nader, Dave Wakeling (English Beat/General Public - who is an incredibly nice person). I turned down going to a party one night - and missed partying with the Dead......major bummer!

And one time in a grocery store I did a double take at a woman before realizing it was golfer Nancy Lopez, then did an "ooops, I shouldn't stare"...she smiled really graciously at me!

we saw Eddie Money at Cocoa Beach pier at after our last cruise in 2006.

cruise related: I am caught somewhere between panic and denial over how close this trip is......I guess I am REALLY going with denial to avoid the panic......pirate:

I sooo resemble this remark! LOL
I feel like I have everything under control...but I keep adding stuff to my lists, so my lists keep growing. I think what makes it worse, is that we are not traveling before hand. We just wake up on the 17th and head to the port. But because so many are leaving days or weeks before...their finalizing of packing and preparing makes me feel like I'm behind! I am really hoping to have everything done a few days before we leave, and be able to jump over to DL to meet up with those who are enjoying the magic prior to the Magic!

I think that how your pregnancy is is an indication of what their personality will be. DS is easy going and generally a really good kid who is mature and listens to me...and tries to tollerate DD. DD has been a little monkey since she was born and has always challenged me wanting to be too independant for her own good. I don't think that she liked not being in charge of things from the beginning. LOL!

I'll have to wait and see on that for the long-term! But DD(18mo) really wants her way too! She was only early because my body kicked her out (that's what happens when you have a ton of water around her). If she had swallowed the whole time, everything would've been fine!

Happy 25th Anniversary Linda and Ron

Happy Anniversary!

I 'sang' with Martina McBride once! We were at her Christmas concert outside of Boston and I got picked to go up on stage and sing Christmas carols with her and a few others. I was close enough to see the run in her nylons :lmao:

I also met Joey Fatone on the last EB PC cruise, but from the sounds of it, who hasn't :rotfl:

I did also get to chat with Roy Disney on the last EB PC cruise.

Last posting before we hit the road....

Alicia and I broke down and ordered the Olympus 850SW today. It should arrive just in time from Willougbys in NY. We got a square deal... not the cheapest but fair for a deal.

olympus850.jpg

The features of this camrea are simply irresistible to me! Shock resistant from 1.5 meters, waterproofed to 3 meters, crush resistant and freeze resistant too! Ours will be black. I just hope it takes decent pictures most of the time. It's been tough finding conclusive and insightful reviews online.

Last Mango in Paris!!!!pirate:
bsjboffice.jpg

Had to go by Captain Tony's and get the same picture you did last Feb when we were in KW w/ the Magic!

I remembered a couple of other brushes with fame..

I met Charo at Disneyland one day..she was with her hubby and son. Also Cindy Crawford with her family.

I had to collect on a few celebrities due to work

I spoke with Kim Richards by phone for work. (not a collection account)

I went to school with members of Oingo Boingo and Striper (Christian Rock Group)..they both performed for us at our school before they hit the big time!

I didn't say they were exciting :rotfl2:

I wish I had started doing these sooner: (my apologies to my SM, as I haven't and I don't post enough)

Finally:
1) Rum, Wine, Juice or water? What's your usual "poison"? And fel free to reply with something other than the basic 4 options offerred here. ..don't drink much (unlike my college years!) love DOTD and fruity rum things...a good mojito..liquer in my coffee..One year we made really good friends with the shots guy who came around after dinner on a RCCL cruise!

2) If you had a THEME SONG.... what would it be? Alternatively, what was the last TUNE you listened to? dunno...our wedding song was Van Morrison "Have I Told You Lately.." right now it seems to be "World You've Dreamed of lately" by Daniel Powter...last tune, something from Mamma Mia or Jonas Bros (that one NOT by choice - DD is addicted to them)
.
3) What's your favorite reading subject and or material? sci fi , fantasy, best sellers, embarrased to say I sometimes read Nora Roberts.....fave authors: Clive Barker, Marion Zimmer Bradley, too many to list..used to read everything/anything I could get my hands on....now don't have that kind of time...

4) Do you have any favorite snacks... any with a trade name? peanut M&Ms with salty popcorn!!! - though I am trying not to think about snacks to take some more weight off before the cruise!

5) What does HAPPINESS mean to you? My daughter ...hands down....

6) Do you sing in the shower? If so ... tell us what you last sang IF you can recall... No, but I do to a very loud radio or CD....had to be something from Mamma Mia!!!!

7) Tell us one interesting/odd fact about you. I am sure there are plenty of odd things; few interesting...but I got nothing..some friends would say my love of Disney, but here we all share that!!!!:wizard: Well, maybe one odd thing: I love the IDEA of doing crafts and buy scrapbooking and holiday project stuff. I then put it in a closet and say I will get to it someday....just can't seem to start...always to be something "more Important". Last time we cruised, I was up late the night before doing signs!

Time to go ....

We bought the same camera in pink (for me!) over the weekend from Circuit City. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet though. Am debating if I should pick up a second battery. We have an older waterproof Pentax, but I'm hoping that maybe this one will work a bit better. I'll probably bring the Pentax as back-up or so that DH and I can each have a camera while out at the beach and/or pool.

I now how you feel. We took DD (now 7) on her first cruise (Thanksgiving 2001) when she was 6 months old. Here's DW ordering from the Concierge service while our Butler is entertaining Sarah:

We had diapers in every closet, but we did have room in the cases on the way back for plunder.

Andy

Yeah, this was on Celebrity, Disney had no suite availability at such short notice.

Too cute!!!

The Port Canaveral Authority has chosen CH2M Hill to oversee the modification of the Disney Cruise Line terminal.

The expansion, slated for completion on October 1, 2010, will allow the two new Disney ships access to the Port. The ships, currently being built in Germany, will be substantially larger than Disney's existing fleet.

The contract between CH2M Hill and Port Canaveral is still under negotiation.

Just saw this on the DIS news page. This is my company (we are employee owned so it IS my company). And the guy who is in charge of ports for the Southeast used to work in my office. Maybe I can transfer to the Port Canaveral office.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I hadn't even heard it through the company grapevine yet...I had to read it on the DIS board.:confused3

Cool!!!!

I shopped with Vincent D'Onfrio (L&I CI) a couple of weeks ago - he lives pretty close to me. It was funny, I was coming out of the dairy aisle heading towards the deli section and there was this man staring at me - he looked familiar but I couldn't place him. I went about my business in that area and kept glancing over to see if I could figure out who he was (I actually thought he might be somebody that my DH works with) and every time I looked that way he was staring at me. Then I finally figured it out, duh! It was kind of cute, he was pushing the shopping cart while his wife did the shopping.

I've also met Marie Osmond and Emme (plus size fashion model) at ToyFair. Years ago when I worked retail I waited on Alice Cooper. I also work for a celebrity, at least in the doll collecting world.

I love dolls!!!

You're lucky! I've been to NYC how many times and never met anyone famous there!

Slash from Guns & Roses was on our DCL cruise in 2006 (my sister had a small, no so nice encounter with him, my father had a small, unpleasant encounter with his inappropriately dressed wife), and one of the guys from Boys II Men was on that cruise too.

I'm not surprised!!! The other night I couldn't sleep and watched Wives of Rock (or Rock Wives?) and she was such a Witch!!! She actually said *Yea, he was married to someone else when I met him. What did I care?*

The rest of the wives seemed pretty normal & nice (except the one that used to work for a plastic surgen.... she may have been nice but, she was freaky looking with all of her *fake stuff* and sleazy clothes.)

Of course, we are flying Delta home from MCO! Just more stress trying to figure out all the packing for a family of 6! I still have not received any "grandfathering" letter from Delta or our TA who booked our flight, so I have no idea what or if we will have to pay. Just ticks me off, all these additional fee's!

Go look around Delta's website - we're flying Alaska - I found the grandfathering bit - in their Checked Baggage explanation section. I printed off the necessary info and will take it with us when we check in.

I succumbed to tempation and picked up the 770SW a couple of weeks ago. I've been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pictures. I'm sure the 850SW will be as good or better.
