I've never posted a video before, so I hope this works... I think if you click on the picture it will play. When we were at the port last month I took some video of the ship leaving and the horn went off right when I clicked record, one of the times! It has a bit of an echo...but I still love to hear it!

Awesome...Thanks for posting. I love to hear the horn and would seek out being on Deck 9 or 10 when I knew it would be played.

I'm assuming he was the captain of the Coast Guard vessel that CAPTURED the fishing vessel . . .LOL . . that is amazing amount of coke . . .can you imagine 2.5 tons of RUM??

I have a feeling with this crew, 2.5 tons of rum would still be gone!

DH was the officer in charge of a boarding team that busted a Colombian fishing vessel. His team actually took the fishing vessel through the canal. As senior guy, he was Captain of a boat with all that coke onboard.

I will be sure to get that as well I have Victorias Secret Strawberries and cream now... HMMMM I can see .. err Smell it now.. thanks for the input:):goodvibes

Another cool point is that if you use one smell (flavor as I call it) then when you get home and use that same smell/flavor, you will always be reminded of the cruise! I have one I used back in '98 in WDW and it always reminds me of that trip. Also, another smell/flavor from our '05 cruise. It's very interesting how that aroma will take the brain back to that time!

Before that I had to take my cat to the vet and my car completely died half way there. Then once I got there I had to put my cat down.

I'm so so sorry to hear about your kitty.

I hadn't thought to distress our costumes. I guess I will work on that next week! ;) Ours are all *clean* looking! :rotfl:

I worked so hard making ours, I think I'd have a tough time "messing" them up!

While googling "missed connection" this cool image of Bobba fett came up....

Well...

... my travels have just been mildly STRETCHED.... as instead of heading off at 2PM we're now heading off at MAYBE 7:30PM. We're actually driving since the cost for travel is FREE if we take the company car versus about $450 if we pay to fly myself and the kids. I don't know about anyone elses' thoughts... but as a consideration besides cost savings - it takes a comparable amount of time to fly moderate distances. IE, it takes 50-90 minutes to drive TO LAX ... only to check in an hour plus early.... and the opposite almost applies on the other end (SFO) adding the hassel of a rental car plus actual flight time. SO the transit would run about 6-7 hours. Well.... to drive would take 5.5 hours... allowing about 90 minutes for stops enroute makes it the same 7 hours travel time. So long as our kids are OK with sitting so long - which they are from long practice driving moderate distances of 2-3 hours. Plus - I prefer to drive long distances at nite - as it seems to be easier on my eyes.

So this will be 5+ hours tomorrow ... and we'll go in the evening when they're more likely to eventually nap - plus we have our 2 DVD players - plus my Zune so we should be just fine. Alicia will probably nap most of the route - if not busy untangling the conflicts and disagreements between the kids. While I will most likely enjoy the cool melody of Sergio Mendes plus a few other tunes - which probably will include Boston, Oingo Boingo, the GoGos and maybe even some Kealii Reichel! http://www.kealiireichel.com/

At any rate - Dan, we'll miss you - however - you've got a higher calling to attened to - not to neglect the complication of travel in the Bay area. Some folks say our Los Angeles traffic is bad - while I often think traffic elsewhere is worse ... with the Bay area being no exception.

Driving makes increasing sense nowadays. As an exile from Southern California, I do think we generally have a better deal in terms of traffic (but then again, I don't have much of a commute and tend to avoid the peak traffic times and bottlenecks).

My ringtone is "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" and my message tone is the DCL horn

My ringtone is the theme from Kingdom Hearts

How did they inform you of the flights? We should be on the MCO to SJC flight also.

Andy

They showed up this morning online under reservations. We're actually flying through SFO. We asked for SJC, but they didn't have that airport available for some inexplicable reason. Not the end of the world.

Name Tag

So I have had to adjust the design slightly for the name tag....

If I put the DCL wave/mickey silhouette on the tag is that ok (with all of you and legally?)?

Chrissie

Sure Chrissie,fine with me!

Lorri,
I like your style! Go for it. If you do it now you will be cool for the TOAL - unless it's something big that takes more than 1 session. MY DD 18 also got one too, DD 21 was a little annoyed that we didn't wait for her, but with me it was really spur of the moment cause I am such a chicken, thta's why it took me all these years. I got a small butterfly on my pelvis. Now I am already looking for the second one, have an idea what I want, but don't know where to put it. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just on the phone right now with Disneyland booking Fantasmic Reserved seating for August 15th at 9:00 PM - anyone else doing this???? Can't believe I am actually getting a ressie, so excited. We did it last time we were in DL and it was a great experience!

I was thinking of doing the Fantasmic seating... Is it really worth the money? Any info would be appreciated.

You'll get all kinds of opinions on this.

For us, it is worth it once every few years. I love not having to wait so long for a spot, love having a chair to sit in, and the treats are really good. But we haven't done it since they switched the riverside seating to a boxed treat. It used to be a buffet and so we really felt we were close to getting our money's worth. Also, there's only 2 of us so it wasn't so bad. I can see it being tough for larger families.

Many people like the balcony seating better, but the balcony is no longer available because of the Dream Suite. We've done balcony once and that was enough. We much prefer the riverside. We feel like we are experiencing the show at riverside, while we were just watching the show from the balcony.

I can never smell "Shore Breeze" again thanks to my Mom on our last cruise. Those bathrooms are tiny Mom- do no need 3 squirts.

Hey all

Do most make their costumes for Pirate night? Or, do many buy them? If they are bought....any good sites? So far what I am seeing is pretty impressive.

Thanks

Purchased. Not nearly as cool as some of the ones I see here, but it will be fine.

I was actually surprised on the Med cruise, given all the fuss about pirate night, how few people actually did dress up. I figure it should be more this time at dinner (because so many DISers are together), but even so, I expect when wandering around the ship, anyone where a costume will still be in the minority.

So, kudos to those dedicated enough to make, buy or steal a truly authentic looking pirate costume. And hurrah for those of us who have the nerve to walk around in a cheap vinyl one from an online costume store! And thank God for the vast numbers of other swabbies who aren't wearing costumes who will think we are cool for dressing up regardless of which one we choose :cool2:

Hi everyone

I tendered my resignation today...I have mixed emotions...I will miss the kids and feel awful I could not say good bye...but it was time...

Chrissie

Chrissie, I imagine that the kids will really miss you. Some of the little things you shared about their days really made me smile. :flower3: Do you already have a new position somewhere ?

Is it August yet?

I really need a vacation after today. First off, I had to come into work early to pull a 12 hour shift. Before that I had to take my cat to the vet and my car completely died half way there. Then once I got there I had to put my cat down. And then on top of it, I wasn't able to go to Disneyland today. For you that don't know, today is Disneyland's Birthday.

Happy Birthday Disneyland!

This is the first time in 9 years that I haven't been there to celebrate its birthday there.

I am very sorry about you cat. You sure didn't have a good today, may tomorrow be brighter.:)

I had no idea that would still be available. I couldn't find out where it is while searching the DL site for prices and such. This is our first and probably last trip to DL for a long time so I might just do this if it is still open. Off to google!

For those doing the DCA Segway tour.......we did it last summer and enjoyed it alot. It was my 3rd Segway, DS's 2nd and the rest's 1st. We had a ball and everybody did great.
